Sorry for the vanity, but this is information I thought Freepers would like to hear about.
Apparently due to unresolved contractual disputes, the Los Angeles and Chicago affiliates of leftist Air America Radio have pulled the programming from their airwaves and returned to local programming.
I'm hearing this second hand, so if anyone has verifiable information or clarifications, please post them.

ErrAmerica's press release somewhat explains it:
Press Release
Statement Regarding WNTD in Chicago and KBLA in Los Angeles
Statement of Evan Cohen, Chairman of Air America Radio:
"Air America Radio is temporarily unable to be heard on WNTD in Chicago and KBLA in Los Angeles, but Chicago and Los Angeles listeners can still hear our broadcast on the web at airamericaradio.com and on XM Satellite Radio (channel 167).
"MultiCultural Radio Broadcasting's conduct in this matter has been disgraceful. To shut off a broadcast that listeners rely on without warning and in the middle of discussions is the height of irresponsibility and a slap in the face of the media industry. In addition, it is a clear violation of their contractual obligations, and we are seeking legal remedies against them in court."
To: Howlin
I knew someone was going to ask that.
Multicultural is the name of the radio group's ownership corporation.

I still have that LP in my collection. Might have to pull it out tonight.

Nice of ErrAmerica to publicly slap the "MultiCultural Radio" representatives. I guess they don't have any respect for them. What a surprise..... /NOT

To shut off a broadcast that listeners rely on...I'd love to know how many people called the station complaining!

I suspect the 'contractual dispute' is a failure to deliver ratings anywhere close to what was promised. So quickly? Arbitron only does radio audience surveys a few times a year, no?

"To shut off a broadcast that listeners rely on..." Bwahaha!
To: hellinahandcart
Yup. Whatever happens, it just doesn't look good for ol' ErrAmerica. If they didn't pay the bills, one would think the station has a right to switch programming.
Also, it would seem that ErrAmerica would want to try a little harder at pleasing stations. You know, persuading them to air their drivel. Resorting to threats of legal action doesn't bode well for that sorry group...

What kind of man uses a pink highlighter?!
I bet all the other Stations in other Cities are running to the bank this very minute to see if their checks bounce too.
This is great.
To: Hildy
hehehe... some more:
It sounds to me like George W knows the owners.
This is disgusting.
OMG...These people hate the truth---they will stop at nothing to avoid it. It is no accident these stations are down simultaneously. God help America.
Here's a great one:
It can't be the bill collector. They said they have enough $ to keep AA going for 2 years without ad revenue.
(Not even making any pretense that it will be profitable enough to pay for itself. And these people think they know how to run an economy...)

Air America's two weeks still ranks as Franken's SECOND biggest bomb, it outlasted Stuart Saves His Family's box office run by about 12 days. I wonder if Al went with the "clown's with balloons" check design??

Maybe Soros gave too much money to Arlen Spector and didn't have enough to fund the "AA" account.

Didn't Franken have a short lived tv show too? I seem to remember him as a tv reporter. I think it too only lasted a few weeks.
