Clearly the focal point of this memo. Good eye! I think the whole sentence is substantive:

These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation.

. . . and all it cost was four airliners, the twin towers, a wing of the Pentagon, and three thousand lives.

It will be interesting to see how the journalists and other Democrats finesse this.

Either Gorelick recuses herself from the commission, or the commission itself is finished. From now until Gorelick is out, this is not "The 911 Commission" but The Cover-up Commission.

I am not sure why. I made graphics from with PDF files by doing a screencapture of the exact PDF pages.

Perhaps, being 'secret', there was an additional coverpage, not in the PDF.

The doc was 'from' and initialled by Gorelick. She was Deputy AG into 1997. So, the doc was issued at least during or prior to 1997.

The partisan widows are at fault on having Gore-Lick on the panel. They forced the Bush Administration to accept this Kangaroo court when they could see it was going to be a political witch hunt. The Bush Adm wanted to have it done right but the widows and press forced their hand and agreed to having Lick and Benny V on the panel. What a joke! Release all the documents on TWA 800!!!

Considering the evidence that has now been put forward following the testimony, on 04/13/04, by Attorney General John Ashcroft before the September 11 Commission, you and your fellow commission members surely will require that former Assistant Attorney General Jamie Gorelick resign from her position on the commission and require her to make herself available for thorough questioning by the panel.

Having this woman remain on the September 11 Commission is comparable to allowing the driver of the get-away car to join the prosecution team in a criminal investigation. What an outrage!
