GF reader Zombie took movies of the unbelievable events in San Francisco this weekend: Movies of the April 10, 2004 Rally in San Francisco.
Here, UC Berkeley Lecturer Hatem Bazian calls for an intifada in the United States:
Are you angry? [Yeah!] Are you angry? [Yeah!] Are you angry? [Yeah!] Well, weve been watching intifada in Palestine, weve been watching an uprising in Iraq, and the question is that what are we doing? How come we dont have an intifada in this country? Because it seem[s] to me, that we are comfortable in where we are, watching CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox, and all these mainstream... giving us a window to the world while the world is being managed from Washington, from New York, from every other place in here in San Francisco: Chevron, Bechtel, [Carlyle?] Group, Halliburton; every one of those lying, cheating, stealing, deceiving individuals are in our country and were sitting here and watching the world pass by, people being bombed, and its about time that we have an intifada in this country that change[s] fundamentally the political dynamics in here. And we know every Theyre gonna say some Palestinian being too radical well, you havent seen radicalism yet!

Fighting words are NOT protected by the Constitutional guarantee of free speech. I've heard similar rantings from professors here in Seattle.

Oh.. intifada. I thought you said empanada.
Great. Now I'm hungry.

As much as I believe that discriminating against all middle easterners of islamic religion is only prudent, I think that armed US troops anywhere in the US is a very bad thing, even to joke about.
Starr Jones was joking about lobbing a WMD at Bush for pre-empting American Idol tonight, and the St. Petersburg Democratic Club just put an ad in the paper calling for Rumsfeld to be put up against a wall and shot.
What are we doing here? What happened to discourse?
Make no mistake, I believe that the current platform of the D party is actually treasonous, not just anti-American.
Don't look forward to a day when tanks or troops are going through any city in the US. I suspect you were being facetious, but we're all creeping so far in that direction.

There's fairly good reasons, actually. (1) People who throw rocks at other people in the street get shot; (2) there isn't a large, disaffected population to do the rock-throwing, and (3) there's nowhere for the rock-throwers to hide.
Academics are always in this "let's you and he fight" mode. In the real world people hit back.

Therefore, I call for a counterintifada against leftists, Marxists, Nazis, anti semites, anti Westerners, Islamists, Ba'athists, anarchists and all other forces who wish to undermine the USA and the West, particularly such individuals who either work at or attend the University of California. As a life member of the UCSB Alumni, I hereby declare war against the vermin within. I call for a purge to commence at the earliest possible point.

And I'll bet you thought COINTELPRO was a step too far? What will it take you to want to protect our own country from hard core revolutionaries who want to foment war within, so that we can easily be attacked from without?

Precisely why the DemonRats want to disarm us, and to psychologically brainwash Americans into becoming pacifistic sheep - starting in grade school.

I wonder if the 9/11 Circus Commission has any interest in actual threats against our country today... or if they're only interested in analyzing what George Bush had for breakfast on August 7 and how that proves he knew the whole thing was scheduled for September.

(1) People who throw rocks at other people in the street get shot; (2) there isn't a large, disaffected population to do the rock-throwing, and (3) there's nowhere for the rock-throwers to hide. And there's always (4) - the United States restrains Israel from full retaliation. But nobody restrains us from such, except when we have a Dem president and we restrain ourselves.

Precisely right, ZULU.
If we don't soon get control back of the schools and governments, we're going to lose to the liberal-demokkkRATs and the UN socialists, in 4-5 generations.
This current generation is badly-crippled in the blue states, and partially-crippled in some of the red states, already.
It's been going on for 50+ years, and the results are well evident in Europe, Australia and many other parts of the world.

I was being partially facetious. OF course the troops entering Berkeley would only be after they had declared themselves as being an independent republic. As always, it is hard for me to eloquently express my disdain for those traitors in Berkeley and elsewhere.

UC Berkeley: A Safe Harbor For Hate
In support of a fellow protestor charged with felony assault on a police officer, Hatem gets to the real reason for the charges.
If you want to know where the pressure on the university [i.e., to prosecute the trespassers who were arrested] is coming from, look at the Jewish names on the school buildings." (UC Berkeley is a state institution whose main buildings are Sproul Hall, Dwinelle Hall and Wheeler Auditorium.

Students Express Anti-War Sentiments at Rally
Hatem Bazian, a UC Berkeley lecturer and director of the Al-Qalam Institute for Middle Eastern Studies, said the United States poses a greater threat to the world than Iraq because it is the only country in the world that has used nuclear arms in war.
"In this university and institutions of higher learning, we have been responsible for more weapons of mass destruction than Iraq has ever dreamed about," he said.

Students for Jihad
Reports of last year's exhortations to "kill the Jews" by organizers like UC Berkeley professor Hatem Bazian and featured guest of honor, Sami Al-Arian, currently in federal prison as a leading fundraiser for Islamic Jihad, have not slowed this event down a bit.
