I was just going on what YOU wrote about your niece and her friends.
I hope this helps.
To: GretchenEE
I do seem to have run afoul of the mob.
And to think that this is a conservative forum. No wonder girls dress like they do these days.
To: Demetrius Slaughter
This thread is hilarious,
thanks to you.
But why do you repeatedly write,
"I hope this helps."?

"Their choice on fashion is a tad on the slutty side."
Yep, Jenna's more than Barbara's. Barbara's outfit is just ugly, not really slutty.

Barbara (L) and Jenna Bush, the daughters of U.S. President George W Bush, walk together from the Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas, April 11, 2004 Here's a contrast:
During Bill's first year in the White house, Chelsea was assigned a specific sedan to ride in for a state function, as was everyone else. The driver held the door open and she backed out , turned, and said, "I won't ride in this car! There's a military man in there, and I don't ride with military men.!" The senior officer calmly got out of the car and found another vehicle to ride in. In another incident, Chelsea asked the Marine escorting her to school to wear civilian clothes in the future, not his uniform because, "My family doesn't like military people." In yet another incident, Lt. General Barry McCaffrey had been summoned to the White house. As he was leaving, he encounterd a young woman who was a member of the White house staff. General McCaffrey smiled and said "Good morning." She replied , "I don't speak to the military." U.S. News & World Report 3/15/93; Sunday Telegraph of London 4/1/93; The Buffalo News, 4/14/93.
"During Clinton's first year in office, an incident occurred which was buried by the news media. The occasion was a departure for a state function, a routine operation. Vehicles were lined up outside the White House... Young Chelsea Clinton, like everyone else, was assigned a specific sedan. But when Chelsea was about to get into her limo, she turned around and declared, 'I won't ride in this car! There's a military man in here, and I don't ride with military men!'" - Lt. Col. Tom McKenney in the 1994 book, "The Clinton Chronicles"
"My family doesn't like military people." - Chelsea Clinton; quoted in Truth In Media; Jan. 18, 1998 issue.
Chelsea also refered to her Secret Service bodyguards as her "personally trained pigs"
Pure class, the Bush Daughters are.

"so, cajungirl, the consensus is that DS is a womanish fraud? i don't know about that. he is an opinionated, self-righteous, judgmental sort, though."
I think he is a Texan wannabe, transplanted Yankee, from New England. No true Texan male would even think the thoughts he posted, much less use that fr--ch vocabulary in public. We should all be proud that the girls spent Easter visiting the troops. That is all that the twin discussion should be about. I'll bet not one of those soldiers said they wish the twins had stayed home because they wore a denim jacket or hose with funny shoes.

Well "bless your heart" for that hon-nay.

Perhaps I used the wrong term. It may come as somewhat of a surprise, but I am not an expert on women clothes.
Her Easter dress had short sleeves and she looked very pretty in it while she sang in the choir with her mother.
She did not have bare shoulders in church.
To: Demetrius Slaughter
That's okay, then. :)

It pains me to be in disagreement with you because I honor and respect your opinins on just about everything.
I purposely didn't reply to your first post to me. I read it and chose not to respond.
The big -- and it is huge -- diff between Christianity (evangelical, charismatic, the type I live) and the Taliban is that the Holy Spirit indwells the congregants, motivating them to cling to the Word of God and His standards dispersed among mankind over thousands of years and whose worth is proven. The type of Christianity of which I write is the type where the Spirit lives in, and law of God are written in, the heart, internally governing the actions of the believer, with the help of the standards of God's Word; the Taliban try to control from the outside while leaving the heart as corrupt as ever.
I don't understand why it is so unbelieved that women do tempt men by the way they dress. This does not excuse men who commit crimes against them, but I am addressing the responsibility of every godly woman to dress in a manner that neither offends God nor stumbles men. Women are as responsible for the way they dress as men are responsible for the way they interact with them. Isn't personal responsibility a core component of conservatism?
Our society has departed so far from modesty that we see this thread going the way it is, making the simple desire to see a beautiful young woman clothed more modestly seem ridiculous, even to some, outrageous. It reminds me of the frog and the slowly-heated water story.
