Barbara (L) and Jenna Bush, the daughters of U.S. President George W Bush, walk together from the Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas, April 11, 2004 after President Bush (news - web sites) and members of his family visited with soldiers wounded in Iraq (news - web sites). Bush awarded 10 purple hearts to troops recovering in the hospital, after attending an Easter Sunday Church service at a chapel within the army base in central Texas.

"Shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second can catch an unflattering moment and freeze it in a shallow mind." Amen...and there is an overabundance of shallow minded shutterbugs working diligently to catch and freeze those unflattering moments in the daily lives of the Bush family. One thing is for certain - we'll never have to wonder if there is anything worse going on behind the scenes with the Bushes. The media is sparing no device or effort in discovering and reporting the very worst they can find about them, and throwing in all of the "unflattering" images available to them along the way.
That strong Texas wind played havoc with the dresses, but the girls are gorgeous regardless of wind and fashion.

When I got into my thirties, however, I came back to my roots and returned to the church and to a productive and conservative lifestyle.Okay, then Jenna and Barbara have about 8-10 more years to figure things out. Your comments about them were way overboard. I think most of us at one time or other did some pretty stupid things in which we learned from. These two girls are under so much more pressure and scrutiny than any of us will ever be under. They were covered up, whether it was your tastes or not really doesn't matter.
I think one is more likely to raise well behaved and productive children by giving them a loving, supportive, but structured upbringing with rules than if one just lets one's kids run wild and partake in all the latest fashions.
Both girls are getting ready to graduate from college for goodness sakes and they are NOT CHILDREN anymore. They are adults now.

Yep, agreed. This one's a baiter and I'm not biting anymore!

No, I mean at all times.
She is very religious and she knows that God is always watching, even when I am not. She is more concerned about not offending God than in not getting in trouble with me. I am willing to cut her some slack., but I am happy that I do not have to cut her any slack, since her behavior is unimpeachable.
I am not so religious as she and her mother are, so I do not always do the right thing, but her and her mother are pretty darn well behaved.

BTW Howlin mentioned slips upthread,,,do young women, do any women wear slips anymore? I do not believe I own one. I haven't seen a slip in years. I guess in knits or thin dresses but I don't wear that kind of dress. and the shoes are perfectly fashionable for young women. People are awfully fast to criticize two young women who are doing a family duty, pleasing their parents, grands and the troops. I just hate that when people do that to young people. It is not really our business you know.

And the scabs comment were just innocent?? If you are so Conservative, you would never imply that comment of a young lady! Perhaps you may want to check that 4x4 in your own eye before pointing out the splinter in theirs?? The jean jacket was worn to get into the building w/o ruining her dress. You think the AP is going to give them any flattering pictures??

"They are adults now, not that it seems to matter to you."
Sure, but what they wear when visiting their parents reflect on their parents and, as I mentioned, their parents are still supporting them.
If a self supporting adult wants to wear trashy looking outfits to church that is different from two girls who are still their parents dependants.
To: Howlin
yep.
First he bashed them for there attire, then inferred with a comment of girls dressed like sluts and whores, with several bashes at Lauras mother skills, and others all subtle but there none the less...verdict...troll

and, as I mentioned, their parents are still supporting them. I'd be interested in knowing how you know that.

I don't care if they are 25 years old, if I am paying the bill, I have a say in how my money is being spent. If the girls want to go out on their own and get a job and pay for all their own expenses, then of course they can cal their own shots and dress as poorly as they like.
But it isn't your money and the clothes aren't that bad. Maybe the problem is that you have a problem with not so pure thoughts since you made the whores and sluts comments earlier.
To: xsmommy
"i would not rail on them for being indecent."
Me either.
If you think I have railed on them for being indecent, please provide an instance.
I just think that their clothing was not appropriate for going to Easter Sunday services or for visiting wounded troops.
Wearing jean jackets with jeans for walking around a college campus is entirely appropriate as is wearing a loud bright green dress with bold graphics and spaghetti straps to a party at which adult beverages are imbibed appropriate by a single young thing out on the hunt.
To: Demetrius Slaughter
Not the best in wardrobe I'll admit. But one thing comes to mind when I look them. You could put either of these young ladies in an old flour sack and they'd STILL look better than Chelsea (how do YOU spell ugly?). And Amy Carter. Clothes are great, but they don't cure ugly.

trashy looking outfits again, trashy, as defined by YOU. just maybe, the pres and his wife, didn't think those dresses were remotely trashy, as sounds to be the consensus of freepers on this thread...
