A Few of FR's Finest ....Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.
Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :) If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day! ~ Billie

Afternoon Billie, MB and Maggie. Trust you had a great Easter weekend.
To those of you who knew my uncle from Minnesota I must report the Sad News that Ole was Shot.
He was up by the Canadian border on his 4-wheeler cutting some trees, when some rangers looking for terrorists spotted him. According to the news reports, using a loudspeaker, they shouted to him "Who are you and what are you doing?"
Ole shouted back, "OLE..........BIN LOGGIN!"
Ole is survived by his wife Lena and Lena's good friend Lars.

Were you shoveling snow on March 7th,
or complaining because it rained?
Here is a bit of perspective:
A backhoe in the Iraqi desert helps Marines from Marine
Wing Support Squadron 273 (MWSS-273) fill sand bags
at the fuel supply point that the Marines are setting up,
March 7, 2004, at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq.
Hundreds of sand bags are needed to line the area
giving the Marines at the fuel supply points
the protection that they need in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom.

"Music to the ears, eh?" ROFL, Diver Dave - -
Don't you wonder at times how on earth we were able to move at lightning speed and present outside for Roll Call within a mere 15 minutes to go to the head, return to the squad bay, dress, make the bunk, and dash to the center of the building and down a flight of stairs?!!
(And I also had to remove hair curlers and comb out my hair, and put on lipstick)
Now that would take us a half hour or even more, plus a cup of coffee to get us through it all..:))

Thank You (((((Rus))))) for bringing us our weekly reminder of the true heroes that are working hard and making sacrifices to ensure our freedom.
Beautiful posts, ((((LadyX)))) and ((((Mama_Bear))))))
Dear Heavenly Father, please place Your bloodline of protection around our beloved military people, especially those in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bless them and their families for the sacrifices that they make.
Please help us in times of grief when You call one of our beloved military members Home. Only You know when the time is right for one of Your children to join You in Your Heavenly Empire. Allow us the strength to bear our losses, knowing full well that Your children are safe and happy with You for the rest of eternity.
We ask these things in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
((((((HUGS))))))) to all.

......."the strength of the Corps lies in the individual Marine. The character (often defined as "what you are in the dark") of these warriors is defined by the three constant Corps Values: honor, courage, and commitment. "......Honor: Honor requires each Marine to exemplify the ultimate standard in ethical and moral conduct. Honor is many things; honor requires many things. A U.S. Marine must never lie, never cheat, never steal, but that is not enough. Much more is required. Each Marine must cling to an uncompromising code of personal integrity, accountable for his actions and holding others accountable for theirs. And, above all, honor mandates that a Marine never sully the reputation of his Corps.
Courage: Simply stated, courage is honor in action -- and more. Courage is moral strength, the will to heed the inner voice of conscience, the will to do what is right regardless of the conduct of others. It is mental discipline, an adherence to a higher standard. Courage means willingness to take a stand for what is right in spite of adverse consequences. This courage, throughout the history of the Corps, has sustained Marines during the chaos, perils, and hardships of combat. And each day, it enables each Marine to look in the mirror -- and smile.
Commitment: Total dedication to Corps and Country. Gung-ho Marine teamwork. All for one, one for all. By whatever name or cliche, commitment is a combination of (1) selfless determination and (2) a relentless dedication to excellence. Marines never give up, never give in, never willingly accept second best. Excellence is always the goal. And, when their active duty days are over, Marines remain reserve Marines, retired Marines, or Marine veterans. There is no such thing as an ex-Marine or former-Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine. Commitment never dies.
The three Corps Values: honor, courage, commitment. They make up the bedrock of the character of each individual Marine. They are the foundation of his Corps. These three values, handed down from generation to generation, have made U.S. Marines the Warrior Elite.
The U.S. Marine Corps: the most respected and revered fighting force on earth.

GOOD EVENING!!!
HAPP EASTER! (since I missed saying that here yesterday)
I had a busy week! Every day of the Triduum I had to read at the Mass. Including the Easter vigil on Holy Saturday evening. This was the first tim I was to a Easter Vigil Mass, it was beautiful but loooong!
what made it long was the candlelight ceremony and the Comfirmations and Baptisms of People who came into the Catholic Church after taking RCIA classes
RCIA = Rite of Christian Iniation for Adults
l have to explian this Mass to you all in another post.
I didn't get home until about 10:00 PM. But I still got up in time for the 7:00am Easter Sunday Mass.
I went with my mom and my sister and her husband and daughter, as well as a couple who are friends of my mom and dad, to a new Bon Evans restaurant that just opened up here in Glen Burnie a week ago. The food was Great!
Thw weather wasn't so grate, we had rain and it was cooooolllllddddd!!!!!
I had Easter dinner at my parents' house with my youngest sister and her husband and daughter; my other niece (My other sister's daughter) and her boyfriend, who is on medical leave from the Army. He was in Saudi Arabia but was sent back to the State because of an appendicitis attack.
He's doing well now, but he might be shipped out again to the UAE or possibly Iraq. please keep him in your prayers. Also, there was some good news His brother's wife gave birth to a healthy boy Sunda afternoon, about 12:30.noon
This is his first nephew.
My brother was also there with his wife and two younger children. his oldest son, Brian who is now in Korea, is engaged to a servicewoman and they are expecting a child. Mo mom and dad are going to be great-grand parents!
But I resisted the urge to call my brother (who is ONLY in his early 40's) "Grampa Dave" HEE!HEE!
Please keep my nephew and his fiance both in your prayers as they are still in Korea.
Even though they are coming home on leave in May. They'll be going back later on this year. They are trying to get transfered back to the States to raise thier child in the US even though he/she will be born in Korea but since it will be on a US Army base he/she will have automatic US citizenship. BTW, my future niece-in-law is an American, she is from California. She's just stationed in Korea.
My sister who had the surgery a few weeks back is doing just fine, she is getting stronger. but now my youngest sister has the same problem and is scheduled to have the same type of operation as my other sister. only she is worse, but everyone including her doctor says she'll be fine but still keep her in your prayers. Her name is Teresa.
I know I'm a bit long-winded but I had so much to tell you and I know I must've left a lot out.
Hope everyone here had a wonderful and blessed Easter!
God bless You all!

This is an awesome letter and the timing could not be more perfect. I've just about had to stop listening to the news, even FOX Radio, because everything is so negative. I will never be taken in by lies or lose my resolve or waver in support of our Troops or President Bush.
