[history]
April 12, 2004 -- Democrat John Kerry - a pro-choice Catholic whose abortion views have prompted some Catholic leaders to say they want to bar him from Communion - yesterday received the sacrament during Easter Mass in Boston. "It was a wonderful service," Kerry said after the Mass was celebrated at Boston's Paulist Center by the Rev. John Ardis, who has said he was "inundated" with calls urging him to refuse to give Communion to Kerry.

Several months ago, my wife's priest told the congregation that,
"..if Catholics voted per the teachings of the Church, there would be no abortion!" (I was surprised to hear this, most of the parish is comprised of rats!)

What Kerry does within his church is between God, the Church, and Kerry. It is an issue, it is a big issue, but for the media is grabbing this like a pit bull and leaving other issues alone. How I react to Kerry and his beliefs is solved at the ballot box.
What I want the media to investigate and report on are Kerry's Vietnam wounds. These wounds, and Kerry talks about three (3) wounds in a four (4) month period, with one day in recovery which gave Kerry an early release from Vietnam.
I would like the media to report on the psychatrists assigned to deal with the returning Vets who reported on the village killings they admitted performing.

The only day in recovery is one that Kerry himself claimed.
There is no evidence of any time off for any "recovery".

Applause and cheers from the congregation accompanied Kerry's departure from the church [after receiving communion at the Paulist Center]. It looks like open rebellion folks.

This altar incident underscores everything wrong with certain elements of the US Catholic Church. Sadly, many in other denominations have the same problem.
The hierarchy has a reputation of bending the rules for the elite and powerful in exchange for what amounts to nothing more than money and photo-ops. The spectacle of a major politcal figure being denied Communion because of his ungodly abortion views wwould do more to strengthen the Catholic Church than 1000 fundraisers and fish fries.

The moral obtuseness of American RC bishops resulted in the homosexual scandal in the seminaries and Church, and this cowardly approach to Kerry and his blatant, antiCatholic errors only aids despair and indifferentism.
Reception of Holy Eucharist is so serious a threat to the salvation of nonbelievers that early church fathers taught that it was seriously sinful to give them communion. The holy body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus that is the Eucharist cannot be taken by one who is not in communion with the beliefs of the Church. Reception of it by a person of such a disposition as Kerry's is an objective condemnation.
The pope taught concerning public espousal of abortion by politicians and validity of communion with the Church; it's a shame the cardinal could not obey.

The man is using his office to legislate mortal sin.
What is the church waiting for?

Now that I look at this closer I came to the following conclusion. Three wounds in four months? This bozo was a Klutz.

Actually, it's not just personal. Catholic voters in places like Boston and NY have traditionally been Dems, because they come from the immigrant populations that Dems are so good at scooping up. Kerry is courting them aggressively by declaring that he's Catholic; in other words, he's using his alleged religion for political purposes.
If he didn't want to say anything about it, or wanted to continue going to the Protestant churches he usually frequents, his "Catholicism" wouldn't be an issue. But he wants to use it for vote-getting purposes, all the while rejecting its teachings.
It's similar to his attitude on Vietnam and the American military. He wants to use it, while hating it.

What is the church waiting for?Well, they are starting to do it but until they all agree at some USCCB meeting that they will ALL of them refuse these pro-death politicians it will be on a diocese by diocese basis. Then, even if the local bishop forbids reception there are priests who will continue to be disobedient.
The good news is that the more bishops who have the backbone to refuse Kerry and other "Catholic" polititians of his ilk the stronger they become and the more encouraged the devout Catholic population becomes. I'm waiting for his bishop to declare him excommunicated.

A TRUE Catholic does not receive communion from a Protestant church as kerry does. He is an out and out fake.

Concensus. You get the idea that a lot of bishops want to present a nationally united front. I'm not sure why, exactly. There's supposedly some committee working on a statement and none of them wants to come out ahead of it and then have to reverse themselves. Not that the answer isn't clear.
Or, they're waiting for the Vatican to say it for them, which is absolutely possible, as wimpy as some of those guys are.
In the meantime, we just keep praying.

The old time Catholic constituency is gone. The new age church he attends along with his wife allow him to move through the rituals without question. Nobody from that special church will question Kerry or his wife. They are special. The Kerry's will just have to increase the donation to the church. That will take care of any challenges presented by anyone. There are many folks that realize that John Forbes Kerry is all about show. There is no substance or character. That matters little to Massachusetts voters. They voted Old Kennedy in many times. Character matters little to the diocese or the voters.

Kerry will answer for his morality decisions on judgement day. He needs to answer today, though, about his abbreviated service in VN where he was supposedly heavily decorated (without wounds) and his participation after VN, especially where the assassination of US Senators was being planned.

And here I was hoping Pope Pius XIII would have given him Communion. I still want to know when he last went to confession in order to recieve Communion.
To: malia
This is a legitimate issue. This is just more evidence of how Kerry wants to have it both ways. Shame on those Catholics who cheered Kerry.
To: kattracks
a pro-choice CatholicThat's an oxymoron.
Applause and cheers from the congregation accompanied Kerry's departure from the church.
Probably the local chapter of the VOTF CINOs.
