You know you're in trouble when the man with the best American energy policy is a Saudi. We've had our differences with Adel al-Jubeir in the past. But the adviser to Crown Prince Abdullah had a point the other night on CNN when he noted that the pain Americans are now feeling at the gas pump is part self-inflicted.

Frankly, I respect al-Jubeir forthright presentation and hope FoxNews will use him again as a news consultant.
But the real question is, What energy program does the Kerry-Kennedy Team offer as an alternative to Bush's energy program which is held up in the Senate? Wind energy by these two bozos is not a credible policy.

differing state restrictions make it difficult to sell gasoline in the U.S. Good points. I'm not at all convinced that the chemical formulations imposed on gasoline by the greens are doing what they're supposed to. How should we know? It's not like "pollution science" is a tried and tested branch of scholarship.
What's that additive they put in gas to make it heavier than air, so the pollutants won't go airborne, and so, of course, they're running off into the water? Is that an urban myth?
Pardon my lack of focus, I'm insufficiently coffee'd...

Yes, let's listen to these reasonable Saudis. Let's calm down about OPEC and the energy crisis. Let's mellow out.
Then while we're sipping our martinis our Saudi friends will be hijacking planes and crashing them into our cities.

Kerry is against all outsourcing except the outsourcing of our energy production. Stop the outsourcing of oil production Senator Kerry -- support drilling in ANWR.

"Wind energy by these two bozos is not a credible policy."I don't know about that. Combine wind energy with all their hot air and those two bozos might have enough energy to power us into the next millennium.

those two bozos might have enough energy to power us into the next millenniumThat's true but with any real energy policy has to consider costs. Keeping Kennedy in liquor would probably cost more than buying all of Saudi Arabia's oil at $500 per barrel.

I agree and have only my tag line as comment.
Let's get ourselves independent of foreign oil by making the alternatives competitive.
Overconsumption of energy is an addiction. I am tired of subsidising the wasteful use of energy with taxes on my income.
Freedom from the Arabs requires freedom from imported oil.
To: vbmoneyspender
I heard yesterday (radio) that ANWAR would bring in 304 months worth of oil. If true, we need a number of add-ons.

Even Christ Matthews was laughing at Jennifer Granholm the other day when he asked her without drilling how will we get energy and she said "windmills".
He laughed and said, "But cars eat oil!"
Also Jimmy Hoffa was on with Matthews, another day, and Hoffa said Kerry told him they would be "drilling all over the place", for the teamsters.
The whole table started to laugh at that one. Hoffa just looked down sort of sheepishly.

Not 304 months, but 3-4 months!

I don't trust them either. But the guy's comments are right on. Add to the Springfield refinery issue, two refineries in Illinois that did supply Chicago have closed in the past two years. Think the Windy City will hit $2.50 because of it's boutique gasoline is hard to source ?
To: OESY
"....a domestic policy that inhibits supply by putting some sources off-limits -- think ANWR, the Rocky Mountains, the Gulf of Mexico and offshore sites on the east and west coasts." Since when is the Gulf of Mexico "off limits" to drilling?? Maybe along the Florida coast, but last time I read about it, they were still drilling along the Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas coastlines.
Drilling offshore would actually HELP the beaches in California, as much of the oil that reaches shore there is from natural seepage from offshore oil formations (all pollution isn't manmade, folks). Drilling into these formations would reduce such seepages.
To: prion
"I'm not at all convinced that the chemical formulations imposed on gasoline by the greens are doing what they're supposed to." Actually, they are doing EXACTLY what the greens want them to do---drive up the price of gasoline and limit supply and usage. Remember, the green's ultimate goal is the elimination of internal combustion engine usage (hey, I didn't say they were SANE, now did I).
To: Wonder Warthog
Yes, you're quite right. Clumsy wording on my part. I suspect the additives don't do what the greens
say they want them to do.
In actual fact, the greens are neopasturalists, who want to return us to a barefoot agrarian society, one economic blow at a time.
