Woah, thanks for the heads up. Beware of Marvin too. When I told him what happened, he said: well, she didn't get you, did she.

I feel like Charlton Heston in planet of the apes.

As I was saying on another thread.

The democrats want to drive the car over the cliff at 60mph and the republicans want to go over the cliff doing 50mph.

Other than that, there isn't a whit of difference between the two parties.

Maybe someday the republican kneepadders will wake up to this simple truth. I doubt it, though. They aren't called the stupid party for nothing.

I wonder whether Ann Coulter supports this? Somehow, I think she'll be too busy to write about it and certainly not in anything but glowing terms. Maybe Hannity will say something against it. Or Rush. Nah! After all, they all have their precious 11th commandment. Can't criticize a fellow republican, now can we?...

And people try to tell me that Dubya doesn't want to give amnesty to the illegals. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Duped again.

I hate being right all the time.

The more I think about it, the funner it might be to watch it all unfold.

It won't be very fun. The labor unions of Mexico aren't real funny --- they hold a lot of power and some of the more powerful sindicatos can shut that country down. Labor unions might not attract Americans in big numbers but most of Mexico's labor force is unionized and it was that group that won the Mexican Revolution and brought in the PRI party. There is almost now way the next Mexican Revolution won't involve our country --- and I've heard the family stories of the former refugees on what kinds of things went on.

Jeb is very pro Mexican.

Mexico doesn't give Americans the Mexican drivers license when we visit Mexico --- and Mexicans can use their own drivers licenses in many if not most US states. Since the cops don't usually act as border patrol agents and don't stop people to check on their citizenship status, if an illegal here is driving, they can present their Mexican drivers license and liability insurance on the car they're driving and they're fine.

The thought that Jeb could try and become president someday scares the tar out of me...for me and my country. We would than be put on the spot of choosing between him and a Democrat...but there would be no difference then would there.

I follow you. As an American living in Panama, I can rent a car and drive with my Panamanian driver's license in the U.S. Therefore, these people don’t need U.S. driver’s licenses right away.

I suppose each state has its own rules for how long one can drive with a foreign driver’s license.

Of course we have buses here in Florida.
The challenge is that we will have to replace that bike rack on the front with a carrier for leaf blowers and lawn mowers. In the rear we can install a trailer hitch for the hot roofing tar pot.
The "crew" rides on the roof.

No matter who does it, pandering is still ugly. I wonder what part of "The voters are against licensing ILLEGALS to do ANYTHING in this country EXCEPT be DEPORTED" the brothers Bush fail to understand?

It seems a pretty simple concept, but they are, apparently, missing the bus.

Note to Karl Rove - If you like your cushy WH office and want to continue occupying it after this year, you REALLY ought to drop this hot potato in a HUGE hurry.

OK, I guess I am on the wrong side of this issue, given the way most freepers feel, but I live here in FL.

It's not a matter of rewarding illegals, it's that they are all over the roads anyway, driving without ever passing a road test, and without insurance.

I have at least two friends that were in serious accident with illegals. It's like getting robbed. There is no restitution, they are just gone. They run away to Haiti or wherever it is they came from. We all have to carry unlicensed driver insurance to protect ourselves.

I would say IF it would make a difference to protect the good drivers on the road, IF the illegals could be held accountable and made to carry insurance and to have to pass driver's tests, (and I know those are big IFS) having a special class drivers license might not be a bad idea.

What is it about ILLEGAL ALIENS that the Bush Boys don't understand? "Guest worker amnesty" and "drivers licenses" aren't the freaking solution; mass deportation, is.

Start with 5,000-10,000 illegals every week, nationwide, and in a few years, they'll be gone.

I'm feeling ill; think I'll go lay down for a bit.

See FR Exclusive: Jeb answers questions about his support of drivers licenses for undocumented workers for the details straight from the Governor's office, courtesy of our very own Summer.

This plan is getting beat up pretty badly on the morning talk show here in Melbourne, FL. At least our state senator voted against this in the committee vote. From Jeb's info, 400,000 illegals in Fla and the state can't do anything??? Sorry, not good enough. If true, then the 9/11 commission should be dealing with the jurisdictional issues behind the problem and getting some recommendations on the table.

Insurance is a big problem. If you get hit by a car driven by an illegal alien, you are stuck with the repair/injuries bill because no license = no insurance.

Hell, I got rear ended by an Indian, reservation type, not Asian, who had a license and no insurance, and that was that. Fortunately he was the one with over a thousand dollars worth of damage, mine was only $500.00 which worked out really well since my deductible is $500.00. There is no reason on earth for illegal aliens to be integrated into the process that legitimizes their illegalities, no not one, and I repeat for good measure...

Exactly. No illegal is going to have anything that has to do with official documents such as insurance. They aren't going to hang around and wait for the cops to show up and file an accident report. Even if insurance was available to them, they wouldn't buy it -- they couldn't afford it anyways.

> Under the proposed law, illegal immigrants applying for a license would have to be cleared by background checks both in Florida and in their home countries, the paper said. <

This is so F-ed up! When the background check shows that they are here illegally, they should be arrested pending deportation. End of story.

Now, we have a post-modern Republican Party to go along with the more evil Democrat version. Great.
