Just great. I drive 20k+ miles a year. Have done so for years. Never had an accident. Never had a moving violation. Drive a late model car -- I make sure it has good brakes, tires, and that the lights work (not so much because it is the law -- I kind of like being able to see and to stop when I have to). I pay a lot of $ for driver's insurance. I pay my *&%^0@#$! taxes and no one has ever given me credit for not being a terrorist, unlike Jeb, who wants to give illegal aliens credit for not being terrorists. Now I get to see my insurance skyrocket (yeah, I'm sure the illegals will buy insurance) while I dodge old cars without brakes and held together by duct tape! WHAT LAWS DO I HAVE TO BREAK SO THE GOVERNMENT WILL GIVE ME ALL KINDS OF SPECIAL TREATMENT?!

No worries. Any self respecting terrorist would be afraid to drive on our roads.

The insurance rates already rise...although, like health insurance, we don't see it directly.

Here's an example. My Mom is a tiny woman in her sixties, and lives in rural Iowa near a town with a meat packing plant. The town is over 50% illegal Mexicans by most estimates (what a shock..with the packing plant and all). Anyway, she was in a store recently, and was behind several young Mexican men in the checkout lane. They spoke at least some English to the clerk at the store. She paid for her purchases and walked out to her car, just in time to see the same Mexicans, who were parked next to her, "attempt" to back out. They bashed into the side of her car.

Upon seeing her, they exited the car. She attempted to speak to them about the accident, whereupon, they suddenly spoke NO English, and began closing in on her in an intimidating fashion.

She figured that they probably had no insurance so, being frightened, she got into her car and drove off. I wonder how many times this happens on the average day across the country.

She paid for the damage, and didn't turn it in on her insurance...but I'm sure many do.

Look, it sounds reasonable enough to me.

Jeb is the Governor of Florida. He has no say over immigration policy.

And, in any case, I'd bet good money not very many of those licenses will ever be issued. A background check here and back in their home country? Any guesses as to how fast the DMV will manage to get those done?

Sorry, American citizens do not qualify for that kind of treatment. Just go to work, pay your taxes, and shut up.

You'll be the first to find out if it happens, as you'll be the one standing at the end of long line, behind them.

"Jeb is the Governor of Florida. He has no say over immigration policy."

I hear his brother works in Washington or something.

Check out the security procedure here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1112740/posts

Help me understand this. Jeb Bush is willing and able to oversee a hugely complicated verification process with the consulates of several foreign governments, but he's unable to get his own federal government to enforce our immigration laws.

Does Jeb hire Rube Goldberg to design all his proposals?

My mind still just boggles at the thought that the debate goes further than the recognition that these people are here illegally.

There should be no licenses. Applications maybe, then nab them when they come to pick one up and ship them home.

The lunatics are finally in charge of the asylum.

They really are. I can't believe what I'm reading.

"standards to ensure recipients ''won't be terrorists,''"(What an imbecile!)

"The bill would affect hundreds of thousands of people" (Try millions)

''Our roads and streets will be safer because of this,''(Right)

By not granting the licenses, Garcia contends, the state "almost tells these folks to break the law (What an in your face comment to make...but he's making it to imbeciles so what the hell's the difference?)

It seems that a policy that ignores them is a policy of denial.''(What a moron! Who said to ignore them?)

illegal immigrants applying for a license would have to be cleared by background checks both in Florida and in their home countries,<(That should speed up the process)

The people who wanted cheap labor AND legal status for them better be careful what they wish for...when the illegals come out from their underground hiding they ain't going to work for peanuts anymore.

They'll have SS cards to boot, making the illegal's employers payroll increase by 7.65% minimum. Not to mention the contributions the employers will have to make on their illegal back pay once the lawyers get a notion.

The more I think about it, the funner it might be to watch it all unfold.

You ain't the only one.

Can you imagine what this site would be like if a Democrat was proposing the exact same thing?

Crazy days indeed.

Hell, give um the licenses, let them vote, after all, they are here illegally. Who are we to say someone is breaking the law? How do we know what illegal really means? Lets just redefine the word illegal. And get rid of those pesky borders while we are at it.

Lots of votes on that platform!

Can we sneak a freeper into government service at the Citizenship and Customs service? It'd be a hoot to see a press release outlining how they'll be going to court to seek out driver's license records for illegals in those states that offer them to illegal aliens.

Hmm, come to think about it, someone with a private group might just send out a press release, especially if they happen to have a similar name and logo.. You know those reporters, they hardly ever bother with fact checking anymore.

You bet, they've already learned how to manipulate all of our social services, welfare, hospitals, food stamps, workers compensation, etc. Wait till they start forming giant illegal alien unions.

When Marvin Bush's (the president's brother) housekeeper died (God bless her), when her SUV got away from her -- Marvin Bush couldn't have acted more surprised, if he had taken lessons. To this day, no one has a clue how that big Ford Explorer overpowered that little Hispanic woman on the Bush estate. One thing is certain though, the property where the the housekeeper lost control of the vehicle was assiduously steam cleaned the following day. For Jeb Bush to risk repeating it -- is plain irresponsible. It's a lose, lose situation all around. But law abiding citizens shouldn't be penalized just to line the pockets of those, who couldn't possibly spend what they have in two lifetimes.

Jeb is very pro Mexican. Remember, he is married to one. One of the reasons he lost for governor of Florida the first time is because he wanted bilingual education in that State. He would make a scary president. If his brother fails in letting all those wetbacks into the United States, he will try his best to do so if he becomes president. Beware of him.

Jeb Bush is now on the same level as Gray Davis. I'd like to see Jeb recalled for this crap and teach the other governors a lesson. It'll never happen though.
