[history]
JENNINGS: Yes. I've become fascinated by St. Paul, because -- not everybody likes the movie "The Last Temptation of Christ." But there is that great scene at the end of the movie where Jesus turns out to be dream, and Jesus encounters Paul preaching in a marketplace. And Jesus says: "No that's not the way the story goes at all." In fact, you know, I didn't do this. I wasn't -- I wasn't crucified. And Paul says: "Excuse me. You stick to your story, I'm sticking to mine."

This is from part of the interview transcript.
Peter is trying to make a new book for the New Testament. The Acts of the Anchors. A book that says the "truth" about Jesus.
"1. And there came forth a decree from Peter Jennings that all Americans should be taxed."
2. (And this taxing was first made when Clinton was president.)
"3. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city."
4. "And Peter also went up from Canada, out of the city of Toronto, into America, unto the city of New York........"

I'm sure his favorite scene from the movie is at the end where the wimpy actor playing Jesus has sex with Mary Magdeline. That's the more "objective" view.

- I sat down last night and watched all 3 hours of Jennings' history of early Christianity. I loved it.
- Seven years ago I finally got to see "The Last Temptation of Christ" on the Bravo cable channel. (I had wanted to see it in the movies, but the religious fanatics had chased it out of the theaters.) I loved it.

Yeah, I saw parts of it on Bravo. If you like lousy acting and girly Jesuses, then this is the movie for you.

I saw a little of "The Last Temptation" but got pretty bored. Loved the music, but the dialog was straight out of Brooklyn. It should have been called "Really Goodfellas."

I liked the Last Temptation too. So it wasn't Christion orthodoxy by any means, but in the end, Jesus is triumphant over evil. Cool by me..

Jennings got his facts wrong about "The Last Temptation
"
And his show last night should have called, "Jesus and Paul: the gnostic and anti-christian view."

Peter Jennings is one of those real haters of the message of JESUS. This past century modernism has worked to destroy this message. Peter Jennings is one of their cheerleaders. Poor ole' Peter....he can spout his garbage all he wants...it will not change the TRUTH OF JESUS CHRIST. Peter needs to understand there is a BOOK OF LIFE, it will be opened up if your name is not in it you'll end up in THE LAKE OF FIRE called the second death.

5. And Peter sayeth, "A new birth of oppression for Christians is now at hand. The Courts of America have found Christians to be unconstitutional. Go ye likewise and gag a Christian so that immorality and vice might spread throughout the land.."

What's a gnostic?Comes from the root for "knowledge." There's lots of variations, but the one I'm referring to has Jesus as a teacher of the knowing that, if one acquires, brings "salvation," "kingdom of God," etc.
If you saw the program, it was best represented by the commentator who was the author of "The Gospel of Thomas."
It's a "salvation by knowledge" theology, and it separates and vilifiles the cosmos from God. It has some truth of course, but taken to the extreme, as Jennings did, it leads away from orthodox Christianity.
More on gnosticism here.
