US and Iraqi forces clash with insurgents in Fallujah
There have been heavy clashes between US troops and Iraqi insurgents on the edge of the flashpoint town of Falluja. US commanders have been vowing to pacify Fallujah after last week's killing of four US security contractors there. Meanwhile, an Italian news agency has quoted a local official in Nassiriya as saying some 15 Iraqi militiamen and civilians had been killed there in clashes with Italian soldiers. Italian officials said 12 Italian soldiers were wounded. The militiamen are said to be supporters of radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, accused of leading a wave of confrontations with occupying coalition forces. 48 Iraqis and nine coalition soldiers were killed in fighting between occupying troops and Sadr's militiamen in Baghdad and Najaf on Sunday. And the US military has said attackers on Monday killed four US Marines in al-Anbar province west of Baghdad, while three U.S. soldiers were killed in separate attacks in a Shi'ite area of Baghdad on Monday and Tuesday.

There is a slugfest going on right now in Fallujah....it isn't for the faint hearted.
I hope we have Abu Zarqawi trapped in there.

What a magnificent plus if Zarqawi is in there! Somehow I think he is way too cunning to let himself get into such a situation.

CBS News says the Marines have entered the city..

There is at least one inbedded reporter asI've seen one of the stations do an interview with him. He is not, though, TV, but radio, so there are no live video feeds coming out of the battle zone. I think the imbeddeds here are all either radio or print journalists/photographers.

The 'rats are PRAYING for heavy American casualties, and a humiliating defeat.
ANYTHING to get back into power.

It seems like that hasn't stopped John Kerry, and he freely admits to creating atrocities.

As I said to another poster here, THIS WAR IS NOT OVER YET. Let's hope we win it, once and for all.I have never thought the war was over regarless of what was, what was not, nor how it was said.
1) The north (sunni triangle)more or less, no major fighting in 2003. (something was always wrong with that picture to me).
2) It was stated that Iraq was the stage set for the war on terror). Is the current battle a part of the war on terror?
3) The enemy has stated and continuously reiterates that they want to kill us and that is the one thing I take them at their word on.
Meanwhile Fox News reporting Marines moving into urban area of Fallujah for all different directions.

"Belmont Club"...roger that!
DOG put me on to the site earlier in the morning..
I was up till 4:30 this morning reading...about current events as they've been "revealed or released"....
I would be going nuts - if we hadn't thought to bring my sainted wife's wireless IBM Thinkpad along... Being out of touch at a time like this would have been heartbreaking...

On another thread here CNN is quoted as saying that they have "taken over" Najaf.
To: PSYCHO-FREEP
What kind of aircraft are these AC-130s? Those boys are going to need everything for this mission and they can take down the whole city because it seems as if Fallujah is the base for the attacks and has been. We've basically stayed out of there and they've had the run of it, but things are going to change.
To: Dog
Al Sadr is supposed to be there now.

These poor "warriors for Allah" are going to get their last lesson on the difference between a "street strutting masked Arab gunman" and a trained disciplined warrior..
It will be the last thing they learn, fortunately..

What kind of aircraft are these AC-130s? How can you have been here 3 years, and not seen what comes out of an AC-130?!?
Just to help you out...
