KERRY'S CRASH CONTINUES

April 6, 2004 -- THE latest daily tracking polls by Scott Rasmussen show that President Bush has moved up six points in the past week to take a three-point lead over Sen. John Kerry. The Bush surge is catalyzed by his negative ads, which castigate the Democrat's record on taxes and terrorism, and by the Kerry camp's abysmal failure to answer the charges effectively in paid advertising. For a while, the Kerry collapse was disguised by the national focus on Richard Clarke's accusations about Bush's policies before and after 9/11. The short-term impact of the Clarke hearings was to besmirch the Bush image, but once the headlines faded, the remorseless Bush attacks on Kerry began to take their toll in earnest.

Dick Morris always has fascinating takes on the strategery of presidential politics.

I see Morris is citing a Rasmussen poll, the company with the worst record at calling the 2000 election. I didn't believe them when they had Bush down, I don't believe with him on top.

"Hello I'm John F Kerry and I approved this message"

"I slaughtered innocent women and children in Vietnam for our corrupt government"

"Then I abandoned my comrades by joining the anti-american movement because of the corrupt government"

"Then I ran for Congress because I wanted to be part of corrupt government, I had my price!"

"Now I have been in the Senate for 19 very profitable and corrupt years and now I deserve a shot at the top banana. I want to be the Big Boss of the Corrupt Government"

"I married rich women, so sue me. I did nothing wrong, heck I plan to do it again right after the election!"

"So vote for John F Kerry, thats me, because I deserve it and you peasants know it".

The Rasmussen poll is only one of many that show President Bush on top.

Fortunately, President Bush leaves the decisions on deployments of troops in the field to his threater commanders, and does not micro manage the war effort in the manner advocated by noted military strategist Dick Morris.

I disagree, your comment should be directed to the Democratic followers and not the self proclaimed elite who direct the poor and destitute followers who believe their best interests will be a focus of the elite as long as they vote Democratic.

While the news media will cover U.S. and Iraqi deaths with the same sensationalism, American voters care vastly more about the safety of our own troops than the restoration of peace and order in Iraq. -Dick Morris

If this is true it does not bode well for the future of the nation.

It is true. There is no amount of feel-good news that can compensate for body count. And unfortunately, the benefits of success in Iraq, while extremely important for the long-term, will be intangible in the short-term, and absolutely unreported and unexplained by the media.

Bush will win, but the Iraq "quagmire" factor precludes the landslide which is the only outcome that could advance conservatives' domestic causes.

Kerry is running for President. In a world as unstable as ours, there is always an outside chance that terrorists could take out the President.

John Kerry's VP choice is a big part of the ticket decision.

Even if President Bush does not run in 2004 with Ashcroft, he is expected to use a member of his cabinet (like Rice).

We deserve to know who we may be calling "President".
