Of course there is a genetic component. There is a genetic component to just about every desire that we have - violence, child molestation, substance abuse, etc. Just because it is genetic doesn't mean that society should accept it. Overcoming and transforming base human desires that are destructive to the individual or society is part of being a human being - most of us are able to do this and still live happy and satisfying lives. Just because a tendency has a genetic component does not imply that society must therefore accept it - that is just downright silly thinking.

There is no difference governmentally in a civil union or marriage. If there were, then religious people performing the marriage would not have to be licensed by the state to perform a valid marriage.

I can start the Church of the Scott's Turf Builder, but I guarantee that if that Church is not recognized as a religion and has the proper governmental stamp of approval and IRS status, I can't perform a valid marriage on anyone.

The old "born that way " argument is so stupid. Everybody is different. I DO believe that some people may be born essentially "gay", transgenedered, whatever. Some people are born hard core straight, and then there are probably people in between who are turned gay by some insident, upbringing, or choice.

Making this a choice/no choice debate is close-minded on the part of the liberals and gays. I know the reason, they feel the NEED for their sexuality to be "born" into them so they can use the same defense/excuses as the disabled, or racial minorities.

Bah, my stepdaughter is a lesbian, but she and her partner are not the same with their sexuality. It is apparent that what drives their "preference" is different.

 30.  Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?"   He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there."
 31.  Abraham said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?"   He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it."
