Those are the first pictures I've seen. Sigh. I've seen the smoke but I'm pretty far from the action.
Looks like the Sports Med center is in danger. Damn. My PT is there.

Rumor has it a cigarette thrown down a trash chute ignited chemicals and started the fire.

I'm 3 blocks from there and the fire is quite a distance. Don't worry.
I tried to walk up there during my lunchtime walk and it was too far for me to walk in 30 minutes.

Aren't the Museum of the Confederacy and the White House of the Confederacy located adjacent to the VCU campus? Museum of Confederacy is off Rt 161 and significantly north of this. The Confederate White House is in completely the opposite direction down town from this fire but about the same distance south. No harm should come to either.

The fire started by an electrical control center which malfunction which led to a reverse circuit. No injuries as of the last ten minutes except smoke inhalation (fireman) and he is doing fine.

Maybe some knucklehead in physical plant turned them off after the sprinkler system in one of the MCV campus building burst over a weekend soaking every floor from 10 down to the basement....

I heard Warner is gonna offer to deport 1000 Yankee retirees for every million dollars taxes are increased.
It's a wildly popular proposal but I suspect he'd just deport the few conservative ones.
I can't see any sign of the fire from ten miles east. But of course it's not likely I would anyway.

I just hope the White House and Museum of the Confederacy aren't affected! Any word on where the fire is in relation? Have no fear. Museum is quite safe. This was one of the more dilapidated sections of Broad Street, but a tinderbox just the same.
