George W. Bush and John Kerry are tied among likely voters in West Virginia according to a survey by the American Research Group. A total of 46% of likely voters say they would vote for Bush if the presidential election were being held today and 46% say they would vote for Kerry. A total of 2% of likely voters say they would vote for Ralph Nader and 6% of likely voters are undecided.
In a race between just Bush and Kerry, Bush leads Kerry 47% to 46%, with 7% undecided.
These results are based on 600 completed telephone interviews among a statewide random sample of likely voters in West Virginia. Of the 600 likely voters, 32% are registered as Republicans, 57% are registered as Democrats, and 11% are not affiliated with any party (independents) or are affiliated with a minor party. The interviews were conducted March 23 and 24, 2004. The theoretical margin of error for the total sample of 600 is plus or minus 4 percentage points, 95% of the time, on questions where opinion is evenly split.
Bush leads among Republicans and among independent and minor-party voters. Kerry's lead among Democrats is less than Bush's lead among Republicans, with 22% of Democrats saying they would vote for Bush.

So Nader takes 1% from Bush and 1% from Undecided? That seems a bit strange to me. (Well, at least the Bush part.)

I consider it pretty good. Bush carried WV by just over six points in 2000, but it had been a pretty reliable Dem state before then. This poll was conducted right in the middle of the Dick Clarke attacks, which makes me feel even better.

If the poll says they are even, then I bet bush is up by 10 points.

I think this looks good too, when you consider Bush has just started to campaign and the Dems have been at it for what seems like an eternity.

All of these polls and particularly the online polls are absolutely meaningless and worthless. The only poll that really matters is the poll on the first Tuesday in November.

NO it does not seem strange. It is proven over and over again to anyone who studies 3rd party candidates.
The fringe party members all tell you the same thing... Just ask them.. They say their is not a dimes worth of differnce between the Repubicans and Democrats. The truth is they believe it.
Do you think Earth in the Balance Gore was Green enough for the left party? Was the man who touted global warming on the coldest day in a decade not green enough in 2000? Nearly 3 million of them in 2000 saw so little difference between Bush and Gore that they voted for Nader. Had Nader not been on the ballot those that voted would have split their votes. Half of the Nader voters would have voted for Gore the other half for Bush.
The fact are plain to see. Fringe party members on the left and right see no differnece between Democrats and Republicans.
You would think the far lefists wouild find a Democrat much more to their liking than a Republican. But they do not. When no far leftist is on the ballot they split their votes about half for Democrats and half for Republicans.
If the Nader voters thought that Kerry was better for their side than than Bush they would vote for Kerry not Nader.

West Virginia used to be a solidly Democratic state in presidential politics. Its not a good sign John F. Seinfeld is only running even there - at this stage, he should be leading by a double-digit margin. West Virginia went for President Bush in 2000 and should go for him again in November.

All of these polls and particularly the online polls are absolutely meaningless and worthless. If that were true, candidates and parties would not spend thousands of dollars on countless polls.

What does this poll tell us? That 46% of those in the polling sample are idiots (those who say they'll vote for Kerry).
