A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Spring Fever. Anybody have it besides me? As winter snow melts into sunshine and greenery, it attacks indiscriminately, enticing the mind to wander, sometimes for days.
No need to call the clinic, the only treatment for this affliction is a good dose of spring. As we usher in springtime, all manner of wonderful little surprises will be peeking up at us soothing the symptoms. Little shoots of pale green grasses, pointed spears of crocus and daffodil plants, and small petaled flowers of thrift and phlox are now emerging from their winter sleep. What an exciting season change this is, as we witness nature awaken in the spring!
Below is a special collection of poems and famous quotes by other's that have been afflicted by this harmless epidemic, along with some pictures and graphics that captures the meaning of spring.

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. ~ Anne Bradstreet
Spring unlocks the flowers to paint the laughing soil. ~ Reginald Heber 19th Century Hymn writer
A host of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. ~ William Wordsworth
April hath put a spirit of youth in everything. ~ William Shakespeare
No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. ~ Proverb from Guinea
There is simply the rose; it is perfect in every moment of its existence. . . ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Loveliest of trees, the cherry now Is hung with bloom along the bough. ~ Alfred Edward Housman
Every spring is the only spring - a perpetual astonishment. ~ Ellis Peters
Is it so small a thing To have enjoy'd the sun To have lived light in the spring, To have loved, to have thought, to have done... ~ Matthew Arnold
May everyone have the best spring ever as springtime breaks in all areas of this great country!

The Feet Of Judas
Read: John 13:1-20
I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. John 13:15
Bible In One Year: Joshua 16-18; Luke 2:1-24
When we read the story of Jesus washing the disciples' feet, we may think we understand why He was doing that for them. John, for instance, was a close friend. Then there were Peter and Andrew, who had been so faithful in following the Master.
Each of the disciples must have had something that endeared him to Jesus. But why did He wash the feet of Judas? Jesus knew that He was stooping down to serve the one who would soon stoop to perform history's worst act of treachery.
Jesus was performing the most menial of tasks for a person who treated the Creator of the universe as being someone worth no more than 30 pieces of silver. Knowingly, the One whose name is associated with giving life got His hands dirty to serve the one whose name would stand for betrayal and death for the rest of time.
Doesn't Jesus' example tell us something special about service? Doesn't it remind us that we are not called to serve only those who are like us, or even those who care for us? We are called to serve all peoplethe lovely and the unlovely, the friendly and the not-so-friendly.
When was the last time you "washed the feet" of someone like Judas? Dave Branon
When Jesus took a servant's towel
His honor set aside
He humbly showed us how to serve,
And how to conquer pride. Sper
It's difficult to stand on a pedestal and wash the feet of those below. Colson

Good morning. I think springtime arrives in Memphis a little earlier than it does in North Georgia, we still have alot to look forward to here.
To: The Mayor
Great message this morning.
Went to see the 'Passion of the Christ' for the second time yesterday and think it's a good idea to go back to see it the second time. The first time is so emotional that you miss alot of the story.
To: Aquamarine
I agree, the 2nd time I was able to concentrate better..

The sun is shining and it's 35 degrees, suppose to hit 45....Great news! It got down to 14 degrees here yesterday morning. I can't even sleep when the temperature drops that much, the furnace can't keep up. The temperature drops too quickly in the mountains for the thermostat.
