A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Spring Fever. Anybody have it besides me? As winter snow melts into sunshine and greenery, it attacks indiscriminately, enticing the mind to wander, sometimes for days.
No need to call the clinic, the only treatment for this affliction is a good dose of spring. As we usher in springtime, all manner of wonderful little surprises will be peeking up at us soothing the symptoms. Little shoots of pale green grasses, pointed spears of crocus and daffodil plants, and small petaled flowers of thrift and phlox are now emerging from their winter sleep. What an exciting season change this is, as we witness nature awaken in the spring!
Below is a special collection of poems and famous quotes by other's that have been afflicted by this harmless epidemic, along with some pictures and graphics that captures the meaning of spring.

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. ~ Anne Bradstreet
Spring unlocks the flowers to paint the laughing soil. ~ Reginald Heber 19th Century Hymn writer
A host of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. ~ William Wordsworth
April hath put a spirit of youth in everything. ~ William Shakespeare
No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. ~ Proverb from Guinea
There is simply the rose; it is perfect in every moment of its existence. . . ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Loveliest of trees, the cherry now Is hung with bloom along the bough. ~ Alfred Edward Housman
Every spring is the only spring - a perpetual astonishment. ~ Ellis Peters
Is it so small a thing To have enjoy'd the sun To have lived light in the spring, To have loved, to have thought, to have done... ~ Matthew Arnold
May everyone have the best spring ever as springtime breaks in all areas of this great country!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Out and about the area the almond trees are in full blossom.
Around these parts, the locals call them "amond" trees because during harvest in Aug and Sept a tractor with a shaker device attached, grabs the tree trunk and shakes the tree and the amonds fall to the ground. It shakes the tree so hard, it shakes the "L" right outta almond. :)

It's like the sun came out! You're back. :)
To: Temple Owl
Thanks for noticing Temple Owl. I did have a little help from Billie, she advised me to vingette the pictures instead of just framing them...and she was right!

How adorable! Did you make that in Photo Explosion? I know how happy you are about your recent discovery in PE. :) Thanks. :) No, I think I made it entirely in Photo Deluxe, including the heading. There are things that are easier for me still in PD - this graphic had only 3 kitties in it originally, and so much easier for me to cut and paste tedious stuff at Adobe PD.

To: Billie; The Thin Man
LOL! Thanks! And thanks, Aqua, for putting my name there! Would hate for him to think you did that ugly thing and feel he had to be 'nice' and say glowing things about it when he really hated it. :)It's very elegant as was yesterdays welcome graphic...I don't care what Skinny says. :)
To: Diver Dave
These are all beautiful additions to the thread Dave.
