I posted the following statement to our front page in response to the criticism I'm receiving lately as to not being fair and balanced and perceived mistreatment of trolls and assorted malcontents. Got news for all, I'm NOT fair and balanced. I'm biased toward God, country, family, liberty and freedom and against liberalism, socialism, anarchism, wackoism, global balonyism and any other form of tyranny. Hope this helps.
Statement by the founder of Free Republic:
In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.
Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.
Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.
We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.
Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable.
May God bless and protect our men and women in uniform fighting for our freedom and may God continue to bless America.

Hi Jimmy
Hi again Jimmy
Being disrespectful to the owner of the site is poor form.
Really glad JR's on our side.
As a conservative member of Free Republic, I am also pro-all-of-the-afore-mentioned-values.
I'll not join the love-fest that this thread is turning out to be, but I will say that Free-Republic is a real power in today's political landscape.
Thank you for that, Jim.
Many here, when pointing out President Bush's good points, will refer to the fact that President Bush has appointed two conservative Supreme Court Justices. What they fail to acknowledge is that were it not for us conservative "mal-contents" that do not toe the GOP party line, we would have 1 conservative Supreme Court Justice, and Harriet Miers.
We "mal-contents" may be a thorn in the GOP's side, but we serve a purpose.
If nobody pushes for a better situation, a better situation will not be achieved.
Thank you very much Jim Robinson for giving like minded conservatives a forum.
"Others have intimated to me that they only lurk because they believe you support Open Borders and Bushamnesty."
I didn't know what JimRob believed, but I'm afraid I do now. Just got a lecture for using word "Bushbot" once too often w/regard to amnesty for illegals. First time this has happened to me since I joined in 1998. I wonder how many other old-timers are getting it over the amnesty border issue. I have heard a lot have been zotted over this contentious issue. Guess I believe it now. Time to lurk, just like you said, as now I'm afraid to speak my mind if it is anything that is in disagreement w/the present Administration. I thought this site was for conservative thought, not just to support Bush regardless of the issue. I don't know now, except for this depresses me. Feel like my free speech ain't so free. And I thought most of my comments made on this site over the many years have been reasonably thoughtful, although perhaps too long. I'm wordy. But lots of other comments from other Freepers have been positive responses to mine. I think this illegal alien issue has the potential to seriously divide Pubs, which is unfortunate. We need a united front for the next Prez election. I'm for George Allen myself, at least at this moment. Well, I'm off to sulk and lurk. Got slapped in the face after 9 years of being a Freeper, and was accused of hating the site. Yeah, that's why I've been on it for 9 years, because I hate it. Sulk, sulk, sulk. Off to lurk with a Midas muffler on my mouth.
I've done battle with the Bush supporters a great deal. But you have to know when to cool it. I refuse to engage in back and forths. I post my views and leave it. People can call me every name in the book after I post. I don't care.
An example: on the elections thread, you made an inflammatory post about the "Bushbots." This was a night for unity, and people were happy about the results. Your comment came out of left field and stirred up all the same passions we argue about every day. You went back and forth and wouldn't let it go. Tonight was not the time nor the place for it. We won. All of us.
We chew on each other all the time around here. Emotions run high and so does frustration. I live in Tucson and I'm so rabid against the illegals that even people who agree with me don't want to talk with me about it. So I understand your position.
But we are guests here. Mr. Robinson has made his points about how guests should behave. I've been here a long time and have always been free to post unfettered. I appreciate that.
There are enough threads around here where people are verbally brawling and name calling. My goodness, every single day we do this fighting. If there's no fight, just don't start one. My best to you.
Thank you for your advice. It's appreciated. I was responding to comments on this subject that had already come up on the thread, along with the typical remarks about anyone who disagrees w/any of the Bush Admin policies being referred to as "little kids on a playground", acting childish, having a tantrum, and like comments. And they are never called on for their insulting comments and/or admonished, not just on this thread, but on lots of threads. It appears they can say what they want about those that disagree w/them on border issues or some obvious flaws w/the Bush admin positions, but we can't respond w/out endangering ourselves for making comments.
Perhaps I went a bit overboard, but believe me, so do a lot of others on this topic. In fact, it has a bad potential to split our party down the middle. I get so aggravated when I perceive what I believe to be an elitist "we know better" attitude, when it's over a topic that is so dangerous to the well being of our country, our security, and our borders. So, I guess I'll just lurk for a while, or only post mundane comments of a generic sort, as I feel I can't speak freely any more if I try to point out what I see as flaws in the administration's thinking. How is it Bush is so good on some things, but falls down so badly on others. I voted for him twice. Now that he's not running again, I see an attitudinal shift of doing what he pleases regardless if it goes against the base of his party or not, and even if it has the potential to affect the mid-terms and/or 2008 elections. Although, in retrospect, don't we all do fall down on some things.
Perhaps I'm being too hard on him, but the border issue really has me upset bigtime. It's what I see as a potential mistake of great magnitude, by both our Prez and by many in our Congress, mostly Dems and RINO's. It goes contrary to my belief in the preservation of our cultural values and our constitutional duty to protect our borders. No borders, no country.
It's still all so disheartening to me. After 9 years, I didn't expect to be called a troll. Oh well, I think I'll troll my way to bed and sleep it off. Thanks again for your good advice. I really appreciate it. Made me feel a tad better.
Oh, now this just made me madder. I went back to read the comment that I thought was made by JimRob to me, and it turns out it was a comment made by JimRob to someone else, and put in a comment to me by the person I had been going back and forth with. I read it wrong, thinking it had come from JimRob to me, when it was actually that little jackal I had been debating with. Will have to put my glasses on and read the fine print next time.
My apologies to JimRob if he reads what I said here, although I haven't really said anything negative anyhow, just was depressed thinking I had been called a troll and that I hated a website I have been on for 9 years. Ooooh, now this makes me really mad. I'll stay away from the one who did this to me like the bubonic plague. She/he is a dirtier fighter than I could ever be in a lifetime. I knew my glasses were not strong enough, but not that bad. LOL! Now I can go to sleep knowing I wasn't called a troll. But thanks again for your advice anyhow. Man, this still really has me ticked off. Now now, flaglady, hit the sack and sleep it off. Nitey nite.

Being a Taiwan-born Chinese, I have never been ruled by the communist China. My voice should not be seen as voice from Beijing's mouth; but a voice from an ordinary human beings. I have to say that your statement sounds like this: in order to keep U.S. hegemony, you and your party supporters shall do anything you can no matter if your means is legitimate to wipe out enemies and potential threats. Things like pre-emptive strike or other invalid measures are entirely acceptable. All you want is just to keep U.S. hegemony over your rivals.
Every empire has risen, and has to fall. There is no ever-lasting super power. There is no invincible army. I asked some of my American friends about simple historic facts such as: Do you believe if the large-scale defeat of U.S. ground troops in modern history ever took place? Most of them told me that it NEVER happened. I told them it did happen in Spring 1942, several months after Pearl Harbor raid. 35,000 American troops plus more than 100,000 Philippino troops all surrendered to Japanese after the fall of the Philippines. Japan challenged the power of U.S. 60 years ago but failed. This time in the beginning of the 21th century, U.S. is hardly win over the long-run.
Before 1830 and before the advent of industrial revolution, China used to have the largest economy. Its GDP made up 30% of global output in 1830.Actually Chinese Empire had maintained that kind of hegemony over thousands of years, not just several centuries. Just like today's U.S.A., CHINA was the sole super power during the medieval time. In 1830, U.S. was a new-born nation and the majority of Chinese people never known its existence on earth. China had risen, had to fall. Interestingly, U.S. seemed to be well aware of the potential Chinese power. After Mao Zedong defeated KMT and forced it to flee into Taiwan, U.S. tried very hard to contain red China and, many times threatened to drop atomic bombs in the heartlands of China. That's containment policy and pre-emptive strike strategy against Chinese communists and Chinese civilians. Were these plots eventually successful?
A nation like China which has huge population can't be contained. Chinese people are destined to be the next super power. That's NOT surprising. China just reveres to its original No. 1 global position centuries ago. The matter is time. Sooner or later; but, you can choose between a peaceful or threatening partner during the periods of rising China and the decision is entirely in your hands. I mean if you potentially opt to have pro-war or pro-hegemony alike policies towards your rivals, your decisions will likely provoke similar counter-measures adopted by your rivals and your rivals may NOT stop rising but tend to be more hostile toward you. There's no ever-lasting empire. American should admit this.
why did you take off the thread about the vatican condemning the attack???
We aggressively defend our God-given and First Amendment guarantee of free religion.

Welcome to FR
Why Liberals, for the most part, are not welcome on FR.
I wonder if there are as many conservative disruptors on DU as there are liberal disruptors on FR. Somehow, I doubt it. < :P
