A few days ago, the esteeemed host and founder of this foremerly great website invited me to do the following:
"654. To: JohnGaltfla (#367)
Oh, it's much better to go out in a blaze of glory. Martyrdom, 72 virgins, plaque on the "Great Ones" wall of fame and all that rot.
jimrobfr posted on 2004-03-19 03:29:45 ET"
Obviously, he was concerned that some of his better non-bot posters had abandoned FR for greener fields where our financial and intellectual contributions would be appreciated. It was amusing to watch former FReepers belittle, banter and blast JimRob in various forms.
I was wrong.
FR has changed.
Deal with that fact boys and girls.
Many of us grew up in a more conservative era, where our nation and our freedoms were first and foremost. Now we learn that it that is not the case. Principles are for losers according to the Bots and most of the ignorant posters here on FR. To create noise and call those of us who have been loyal to the conservative cause such creative and wonderful names as "Soros lovers", "Mobyites", "communists"(now that's a good one for those of us who have been overseas staring at AK-47's), "DUers" and names which are forbidden for me to mention but ok for the Bushbots.
The noise has driven off many of the best posters from this site. Now FR has become the Fluff of the RNC, posting such creative threads as "Pray for President Bush - Day 1276", "The Economy (Freep this poll)", " FReeper After Actions", "After Action Freep A.N.S.W.E.R. AUSTIN TX 3/20/04", etc...
It sounds more to me like everyone is proud of responding but no one has the convictions excpet for what the RNC faxes them. This election should not be about "Republican" v. "Democrat" principles. Neither party has any principles. If you morons believe that, then you are bigger fools than I thought. This is about the future of America an the viability of capitalism in this nation.
Why "FReepers" can not see this and hold "their man" to the Hamiltonian principles of limited Federal government and enhancing our freedoms by reducing dependency on any government. By controlling immigration, restructuring the tax system to pre-1916 form, and by enhancing the defense of this nation by using actions instead of words when dealing with foreign powers (little things, like enforcing the acts against nations which do business with Cuba, as Bush promised in 2000). Unfortunately you mind numbed morons don't care. If you're 401K shows a fiat currency positive figure, you're all happy as a fly in a cow pasture.
Go for it.
As Senor Cartman would say:
"Screw you guys, I'm going home"
No, no, no. You got the adjectives all wrong. You make it sound like a picnic outing on a sunny day. When describing immigration, we reformers who try to sway people to our way of thinking must use such hyperbolic terms as 'epic' and 'titanic' and 'tectonic' and 'demonic' and 'galactic.'
Texasforever (I am all flamed out.)
Apparently not.
I don't worry about my health, but it's certainly a waste of time. I'll put her on the same list as Dane, Cinfla, Kevvie boy, Roscoe and the rest of the perpetually disturbed. :^}
I have to say, I was searching for something that I would have found offensive (if I were you), and I just couldn't find anything that egregious. So, using that exchange as an example, my answer to your sincere question is that I personally wouldn't have considered that an attack, and therefore I wouldn't have considered it anything to "police". It wasn't personal (that I could see - did I miss something?), and I guess I consider pretty much all questions related to politics fair game around here.
You seem to be very articulate and confident in your positions. It surprises me that you felt like you were under attack there. Is there a different example you could direct me to?
Government spending has been high forever. Illegal immigration has been going on for a long time.

Oh, well that explains everything. Thanks.
I wasn't explaining everything, but you're welcome anyway. I was correcting your erroneous comment.
These problems were worse 15 and 20 years ago with Reagan.
I got concerned when that same poster attacked burkeman1 more recently calling him a DU troll. My gut reaction was that he was looking for an easy target (burkeman1 qualifies) and picking fights for whatever reason. There's a fine balance between keeping people like the subject of this thread on the forum while still allowing newcomers who want to really challenge the views of posters like Burkeman. My overriding concern is that forum could in theory be converted into an echo chamber by a determined group of outsiders pretending to be extremely strong Bush supporters who challenge each and every post that posters like Burkeman1 make.
Or am I just being paranoid? Is it worth having dissenters like burkeman1 around who aren't always easy to debate with (to put it politely)? Personally I think that is the biggest strength of the forum.
Another flaky goldbug runs for the exits. Ho hum.
Be careful. He's "Atlas."
Oh, good God. Well, I can see your account has been suspended, Beck, so you cannot respond. And I don't know if you'll even read the responses. But I'll give this a shot...
First, how dare you treat with disdain the thread that asks for prayer for the President. You need not participate if you don't want to pray. But tossing that thread, along with other activism threads aside as needless and unworthy, is mighty haughty on your part.
Secondly, if you don't think there is a real difference between Democrats and Republicans, then you're the moron. I've been on the other side, sir, and there is a huge difference. Do I agree with everything this Republican administration has done? Hell no. Will I support it as best I can and defend it against the Democrat Party operatives? Hell yes! Politics is the art of the possible, and I think G.W. is doing a darn good job, considering the hand he has been dealt.
Finally, you giving up on the web site is a sad event. I suspect you have plenty of positive contributions you could submit to FR. Perhaps you fancy yourself a modern-day John Galt, rushing off to find a "secret" place where real conservatives can enjoy themselves in cyberspace. I doubt you'll find it: but good luck.
I hope you'll reconsider joining FR and being a good member, even if you don't always agree with what is discussed. While I believe all good members here at FR are conservative, we're definitely not "bots". We have our differences with politicians and with each other...but we also are able to divine the differences between the two electable parties. (I suspect you do, too.)
Yeah, but "Atlas" re-posts DEBUNKED tinfoil nonsense like this thread that he started (3 years *after* I had already debunked this newsmax/worldnetdaily nonsense).

American cheese isn't really cheese anyway. It's a processed food similar to Velveeta. However, Velveeta does melt nicely and is good when mixed with Ro-tel tomatoes and eaten with tortilla chips. In Texas it's called comfort food.
Honestly, I couldn't see why you felt attacked - BUT, I also wasn't really able to see why the person you were debating on that thread had pegged you as some kind of pro-Kerry troll. (I think he/she just put your tag together with your position on the topic, which was a reasonable one being reasonably argued, imo - so they questioned you...your sign-up date should have been a clue to that person.)
As for the forum in general: I do see the problem with people here practically campaigning for John Kerry because of their hatred for President Bush. It is impossible to distinguish some people's posts from something you would typically read on DemocraticUnderground - really. If liberals aren't allowed to advocate for Kerry here, I don't know why fringe, extreme-right conservatives would be.
I don't know if a person like the subject of this thread is worth worrying about. I think he's probably exactly where he belongs, in a sea of name-calling, rabid anti-Bush sentiment. People like you, on the other hand, are a different story. You seem to state your views politely and reasonably.
Big difference there, imo. Not that my opinion about any of this matters. LOL (I just wondered why you felt "harassed".)
