Goodbye you cheerleading losers
Self ^ | 03.21.04 | Self

A few days ago, the esteeemed host and founder of this foremerly great website invited me to do the following:

"654. To: JohnGaltfla (#367)

Oh, it's much better to go out in a blaze of glory. Martyrdom, 72 virgins, plaque on the "Great Ones" wall of fame and all that rot.

jimrobfr posted on 2004-03-19 03:29:45 ET"

Obviously, he was concerned that some of his better non-bot posters had abandoned FR for greener fields where our financial and intellectual contributions would be appreciated. It was amusing to watch former FReepers belittle, banter and blast JimRob in various forms.

I was wrong.

FR has changed.
Deal with that fact boys and girls.
Many of us grew up in a more conservative era, where our nation and our freedoms were first and foremost. Now we learn that it that is not the case. Principles are for losers according to the Bots and most of the ignorant posters here on FR. To create noise and call those of us who have been loyal to the conservative cause such creative and wonderful names as "Soros lovers", "Mobyites", "communists"(now that's a good one for those of us who have been overseas staring at AK-47's), "DUers" and names which are forbidden for me to mention but ok for the Bushbots.

The noise has driven off many of the best posters from this site. Now FR has become the Fluff of the RNC, posting such creative threads as "Pray for President Bush - Day 1276", "The Economy (Freep this poll)", " FReeper After Actions", "After Action Freep A.N.S.W.E.R. AUSTIN TX 3/20/04", etc...

It sounds more to me like everyone is proud of responding but no one has the convictions excpet for what the RNC faxes them. This election should not be about "Republican" v. "Democrat" principles. Neither party has any principles. If you morons believe that, then you are bigger fools than I thought. This is about the future of America an the viability of capitalism in this nation.

Why "FReepers" can not see this and hold "their man" to the Hamiltonian principles of limited Federal government and enhancing our freedoms by reducing dependency on any government. By controlling immigration, restructuring the tax system to pre-1916 form, and by enhancing the defense of this nation by using actions instead of words when dealing with foreign powers (little things, like enforcing the acts against nations which do business with Cuba, as Bush promised in 2000). Unfortunately you mind numbed morons don't care. If you're 401K shows a fiat currency positive figure, you're all happy as a fly in a cow pasture.

Go for it.

As Senor Cartman would say:

"Screw you guys, I'm going home"

Based on your "I'm taking my ball and going home!" attitude, I have a feeling your wife doesn't share that sentiment.

Coop, I was thinking the same thing but I was way too much of a weak willed Bush-Bot to say such a thing to a great conservative thinker like Beck_isright!

For an Opus I give it a 3 for originality, 2 for style and 1 for overall content

I would go with a 2 on originality because of being outted from LP asking for input, a 3 for style because of freeper consistant content, and a 3 for overall because it wasn't 3 pages long.

So I go with 2,3,3.

Awwwwwwwww. Poor widdle diddums.

In unvarnished reality: it is you sour, self-adoring Buchananite types who have been "driving many of the best posters from this site" (or, rather, have been attempting to do so, at any rate). And referring to principled conservatives -- men and women whose primary core conservative concerns are lower taxes, national defense, the ongoing abortion holocaust, the Regan Doctrine, re: defending democracies overseas (such as Israel), etc., etc. -- as "cheerleaders" and " 'bots" only calls your own narrow, absurd, comic book brand of "conservatism" into question, ultimately.

While you're whining like a spanked spaniel puppy that "smaller government" and "Hamiltonianism" are the only real, TRUE yardsticks of conservatism: we " 'bots" and "cheerleaders" are working to re-elect a man tirelessly defending American citizens from bloody terrorist assault on our own shores, and bringing long-needed democracy to the benighted Middle East.

WE'RE honoring the first principles of Reaganism: removing the grasping paw of Big Government from the wallets of working men and women; strengthening the military; championing the unborn; and promoting and exporting democracy overseas.

YOU, by comparison, sound like a constipated cross between Ross Perot and Noam Chomsky.

History will judge fairly which one of us adheres more steadfastly to the core principles of conservatism, ultimately. And that reckoning cannot come one hour or minute too soon, by my reckoning.

Go away. And take your coloring book with you.

The drama! The pathos! Former FReeper comes to understand the insignificance of his personal opinion on a bulletin-board, becomes a source of fleeting humor, and is soon forgotten.

Personally, I'd like to see this thread be pulled completely.

I know we aren't as strident about "FREE SPEACH" as they are over on LP (ok, that does drip with sarcasm but I couldn't help it), but this guy was planning this OPUS and exit all morning long, screaming for attention and even asking for ideas on how his farewell thread should go.

If FR is not his cup of tea, he should have just Freepmailed Jim and asked that his name be withdrawn and let that be the end of it.

If more folks would ignore ahole attention getters like JohnGaltfla it would make for a much nicer Sunday.

ShadowDancer, as an aside just to you sweetie, people aren't LEAVING here in the numbers and for the reasons some people wish to assert or even believe.

Later down the road, as the election cycle gets into gear, you'll see a surge in sign-ups, and as it winds down, you'll see a drop off.

Ignorant ,mind numbed morons,bushbots....those are some of his opinions of FR.Could you suggest how we should reply? He trashes the activism counter protests, etc.

We average about 750 articles a weekday. We average about 23000 articles plus posts a weekday , 3500 distinct posters a weekday and about 150 new signups. He is complaining of about fewer than 100 threads a day.

This happened to be a big weekend because the antiwar, socialists had a worldwide protest and Bush kicked off his campaign in Florida..Why look for the ones he doesn't like?

How do I know this, because the daily stats were linked once and I bookmarked it.

He said nothing other than tell how wonderful it has been for him to be married to her for those years. There was plenty of fodder to attack, it was juvenille and petty to latch onto that one and more than a bit embarrassing to read.

do yourself and all of us a favor and leave your Dr. Ruth behind the keyboard couch assessments of other folks' marriages to yourself.

Thats right. Some wives like being verbally abused and called BushBOts and slackers.

There are plenty of serious threads, if your arguements can't hold up there's probably a reason for it.

Yep. And I have had a few beaten to bloody pulp. Some kindly, others not so kindly. But I figure that is the choice I make by throwing out my arguments for 10,000 people to critic.

Beck_is_right is named after a cop killer?

perhaps the self image "I'm a loser baby..."

this audience does not deserves this, it is not accurate, and in my view reflects personal issues on the part of beck.

I haven't been around here that long, but I cannot see what
this fellow is talking about. Each subject has many folks critical of Bush, and quite a range of views represented.
There are a few flameouts, but really considering the amount of stuff here, very few. Some seem to be residual hard feelingss from previous conflicts.
___________________________
Compare to DU, an admittedly bad example, but there it seems every thread goes down in flames. I am tired of reading things like beck's above, yet I do like to keep up with what folks are thinking.
Then, maybe that is all they have right now?
Looks that way to me.
Seems attendance is way down. maybe they have banned everyone?

Holding the President responsible for his actions is one thing; but insisting that because he doesn't bow and scrape at our every whim is a cause for electing John Kerry (because, at the core, that is exactly what you are proposing) is another matter completely.

Am I pissed off at some of the things that Bush and company have done? Sure! But I'm not so wrapped up in myself to believe that "some other guy" (as certain current and former FR posters like to scream in their incessant bitchfests) is going to be able to do things any better in 2004.

Now if you want to talk about setting things up so that when GW leaves office that a better candidate can be in place to take the reins, that's different.

But bitching and moaning ain't gonna do a damned thing.

I never said numbers, I said for reasons. Frankly, I read about this over there and was about to post to this guy over there to just shut up and leave and stop acting like a two-year old about it. The reply I read on here about his wife stopped that in it's tracks. Do I still think he should have just shut up and stopped posting if that's really what he wanted to do? Yep. I never got this 'opus' thing. Strikes me as melodramatic, prima-donna grandstanding regardless of who it's coming from. But that crack about his wife and marriage was uncalled for and ridiculous. This has nothing to do with how I feel about Bush or this site or any other one. It's just common decency.

"It sounds more to me like everyone is proud of responding but no one has the convictions excpet for what the RNC faxes them."

Oh, I remember you. You're the tinfoiler who posted that ridiculous thread about how Russia had stolen an American island off of the coast of Alaska.

I had to spank you hard with a post from that Alaska town's chamber of commerce showing that it was alive, well, and still controlled by the U.S. before you fled away from Free Republic for some great amount of time.

So now you want to grandstand and pretend to leave again?!

You know, that's what teenage girls do when they are flirting. They grandstand and pretend to run off. As a father, I get a big kick out of watching such childish games.

The difference, of course, is that most of those little girls eventually grow up...
