Good choice! Belinda Stronach was inexperienced and would have been disaster her first time in a national campaign. She should get a couple of years experience as a backbench MP in the House Of Commons or as a Cabinet Minister (if the Conservatives win) and then run for party leader. Stephen Harper is a good choice for the CP. He's strong in Western Canada and has now has the support of the majority of the party behind him. The CP is now well positioned after its leadership battle, to look forward to the federal election when it happens. Which is probably whenever Prime Minister Paul Martin and the Liberals think they have a chance to win.

This is the best news Canada has gotten in a long, LONG time. Harper is a totaly relatable, middle class guy who has a fantastic grasp of the issues and personal integrity out the wazoo. The media is now saying that a Conservative minortity government is a possibility, but I think that's a given and a MAJORITY government is within reach with this leader.

It's interesting that the timing of leadership race and the expected election has created what is esentially a Primary Race like the US has.
