[history]
I was trying to recall the exact moment I lost interest in the 2004 presidential race. It was March 7, the day The New York Times published Maureen Dowd's gushing paean to John Kerry.
Dowd gloried in the "vast palette of cultural preferences" that paint the Kerry persona. Why, he not only reads Keats and Shelley and T.S. Eliot, he writes his own verse on the "barren desolation of the desert."

We'll bet Maureen will never catch John and Teraysa relaxing by listening to Van Morrison.

We'll never see them drink beer and munch pork rinds as well as rub shoulders with working class stiffs.

Yup. That's why I wish the Kerry cursing out a secret service agent on the ski slopes was getting more airplay. Even Rush Limbaugh seems to have dismissed it. He mentioned it but didn't really hammer him. I'm really disappointed that even the New York Post didn't mention it in today's paper. What's up with that?
To: Howlin
I asked who was his favorite Beatle. "The first drummer," he joked. "As you know I was a fraternity man at Yale. I had parties. We had a lot of groups come in. I just was not, I mean, I like music. But I'm not a great aficionado of music." And the libs still hammer him about that -- just this week, Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner was saying how Bush liked Wayne Newton, while Kerry went to a Springsteen show with Wenner, and how that makes Kerry a better candidate. Never mind that according to a Dean blogger who saw Springsteen at that show, that Kerry stood like a stone statue for most of the time, and the rest of the time went around shaking hands!

I agree. It was an accident and to get upset over a simple accident and to call some-one an SOB over it is truly childish. Most times something happens like that and most people chuckle about it or josh each other in a good humored sort of way. It seems like Kerry still is 21 and spoiled to boot. You don't want something like him in the white house!

Nope! That is a multiple "D" cell girl if ever there was one. ;)

Kerry's behavior is a classic un assured "nouveau riche" type of behavior.
He exhibits all of the attitude of the common arriviste who just has to demonstrate to all and sundry that he is a big "somebody." I think it was Oscar Wilde who referred to people like Kerry as "knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing".
There is a grace and balance in behavior that good breeding and strong family provides over time; George Bush has it in spades, Kerry never will.

Yup. Expect acts of charity and kindness toward his lessers to be staged for our benefit soon.

Dubya sounds like a lot of 'ordinary' people. Hubby and me included. Camping is more our speed and older country music. I prefer to FReep, quilt, read, and listen to blue grass gospel music than listen to some tenor caterwauling in a foreign language I don't understand a word of. Went to see the Passion of Christ which is the only movie I've been to in over 5 years. We occassionaly rent one, much rather watch it in the comfort of our own home, where we can pause and go to the rest room or get a snack we didn't pay an arm and a leg for.

I love it ... what Dowdy doesn't understand is that the majority of Americans have exactly the same "cultural" tastes as President Bush, or as near as makes no difference. People, unless they are left-wing nutballs, LIKE President Bush.
John Kerry is such a goof. The more people learn about him, the less they will like him. Some will vote for him, but only because they hate Republicans, not because they like Kerry.

For all their egalitarian rhetoric and "championing of the little man", the Left is elitist.
Leftists see themselves as Ubermenschen who, because of their moral and intellectual superiority, have undertaken the protection of the inferior--intellectually and otherwise--Untermenschen peasants.
Some "Liberals" actually believe this.
Others, of course, are exploitive psychopaths who know exactly what they're up to.
In either case, "Liberals" tend to be snobs who love aristocracy. Not only do they see themselves as aristocrats--or Ubermenschen--but aristocracy seems to lend ligitimacy to their pretentions. Furthermore, it must not be forgotten, that class envy and a craving for revenge are one of the driving forces behind Leftist indifference and cruelty.
One thing that really sticks in the "Liberal" craw is the fact that George Bush is an authentic aristocrat--and that he has chosen to be one of the people.
The Left really hates that.

No it won't. I keep posting this thought on various threads. The dems will stop at nothing - repeat:nothing to win this. They know they have the mediawhores to do their dirty work. The 30 year old DWI that by a cosmic coincidence surfaced days before the '00 election? That's nothing compared to what they'll do this time. --Not that they have anything on W. The dem-media smear machine has bees desparately searching for 4 years now for dirt on W and all they come up with is a 30 year old DWI. SO W is clean. But that doesn't mean they won't just fabricate it. The Wednesday before the election some dem puppet says Bush --fill in whatever vicious outlandish charge here -- and the mediawhore go wall-to-wall with round the clock "coverage". Polls instantly appear to support their propaganda. When - a week after the election, it becomes very clear it was all a fabricated lie--the damage is done, the election is over, and everyone forgets about it. And don't expect the media to say so much as "shame-shame" to the demholes.
