[history]
I was trying to recall the exact moment I lost interest in the 2004 presidential race. It was March 7, the day The New York Times published Maureen Dowd's gushing paean to John Kerry.
Dowd gloried in the "vast palette of cultural preferences" that paint the Kerry persona. Why, he not only reads Keats and Shelley and T.S. Eliot, he writes his own verse on the "barren desolation of the desert."

The last actress who made his heart race was Julie Christie in "Doctor Zhivago."The young Omar does it for me. Zhivago was a two timer but who cares.

," and we're certainly not going to elect a man who electrifies Maureen Dowd. I am sure that Dowd gets "electrified" on occasion but it is powered by triple A batteries and not a man.

Lord, Howlin. This is about as funny as it gets. Wonder if she started out writing obituaries. What could that be like?
You don't suppose the plan is to let this moron emplode and come convention time run Bruno (hillary) out to save the day? What would be better than to let your opposition waste a ton of money ona staw man?

As one of the people who were there remembers, Bush had once again said just the thing to improve everyones mood and to remind them how much fun it is to be around himI know for a fact had Bush slammed into an SS guy he would have made a joke at his own expense--no way would he have called the guy an SOB. The Kerry incident is really revealing and really makes me hate him. I wouldn't be able to take this pompous jacka** for 4 years.

Poor kerry. The only time he opens his mouth these days is to change feet. He must drive his minders nuts trying to keep him from lurching off into yet another pot hole.

Hugh has a very eclectic and irreverent, yet spot on show...Prof David Alan White(US Naval Academy) for Shakespeare...Emmett the unblinking eye for movies on Friday...Irwin Chimerinsky(sp?)from the left and John Eastman from the right, both constitutional law professors...also Fred Barnes and Mort Kondracke, David Drier, Yonni from Seattle, etc...very knowledgable callers too...as Hugh says 70% political, 25% cultural, and 5% Ohio sports...

I don't think Kerry is part of any conspiracy. He's just being Kerry. Just like Al Gore was...nevermind that's not a good comparison.

Agreed. The Baron John F. Munchausen is not only a snob, he's also a screw-up. He doesn't connect to folks in flyover country.

The DemoncRATs must feel like absolute idiots and total suckers for buying Hanoi John French Kerry - they are going to get even angrier and more hateful. One note of mention from Hugh Hewitt this PM was that Kerry might have to take out McAwful pretty quick here to avoid getting a knife in the back as the rats flee from the stench already arising from Kerry's polical corpse. Normall Kerry wouldn't pick a new DNC head until the end of the process but as the prospective nominee he could take McAwful down & is probably something his campaign has to be strategizing about now given this latest fiasco on top of all the perilous, absolutely dooming gaffes he's already made in his perpetually ongoing self destruction over he past couple weeks.

Its about character. Its about treating someone how you would like to be treated yourself when no one is looking. Showing a bodyguard some appreciation would have made people take another look at Kerry. What they saw is someone who doesn't treat lessers with the consideration they deserved and who was never properly socialized by his parents. Kerry is a guy who has everything going for him but class. And that is exactly why he will never be President - he looks down on every one else and thinks cause he's upper class, he's entitled. That's his fatal flaw and his undoing.

who was never properly socialized by his parents. Recall how much his parents openly hated Americans and looked down upon the US and how much time he spent growing up in Europe.

I have a bad feeling that if we hit Senator Munchausen too hard, too fast, we might end up with a Democratic ticket topped by the Wicked Witch of the East.
To: Steven W.
The Clintons have made it clear that if Kerry touches Terry McAwful, he can expect to have their undying wrath. He's already caved on naming the DNC chairman. In exchange, Bill and Hillary are "helping" him raise a piddling $10 million, a not too subtle signal on the chances the Clintons think he has to be elected President - slim to none.

A couple of things: First, this thing ain't over yet. An awful act of terrorism here on our shores, $3 a gallon gas or an otherwise crappy economy could revive the seemingly moribund Senator Kerry. Secondly, you don't want Kerry to assume room temperature until sometime after Labor Day, too late for the very imaginative and conniving dems to regroup.

Could be shmould be. The Democrats have set things up so there would have to be a mega-disaster for them to have a chance to win in November. Now that we know what Al Qaeda did in Spain, we're on alert against their trying to create a major terror atrocity here in the homeland. Since Kerry's character sucks, the only way people could be predisposed to vote for him is either if the President does something politically suicidal or the economy tanks and goes really south. As long as things keep on getting better, let's face it, the Democrats don't have a prayer in the fall.
