Gibson's passion film 'too Catholic'

THE controversial Mel Gibson film 'The Passion of the Christ' has been dismissed by the Evangelical Protestant Society as a 'Catholic' interpretation of events which "does not present the Gospel".
Wallace Thompson, secretary of the Evangelical Protestant Society, said the film displayed "an un-Biblical fixation on Mary, the mother of Jesus. None of this should surprise us, for both Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel, who plays the part of Christ, are enthusiastic devotees of the traditional teachings of the Church of Rome."
He further claims that Mel Gibson "belongs to an ultra-conservative Catholic group which does not recognise the reforms of Vatican II, and celebrates Mass in Latin".
Mr Thompson says that "this malign influence of Rome ought to cause all evangelical Protestants to reject The Passion of the Christ" and refuse to be swayed by the subtleties of the alleged arguments in favour of it.
Sadly, however, it will be welcomed and praised by many who ought to know better."
Mr Thompson also says that the film is "extremely violent", and that "anyone who watches it will be shaken and possibly terrified by its graphic and bloody scenes."

I think we're all hallucinating it, all of humanity lives in the wrong world while Neo Havocs live in the real world not the Matrix

Since Vicar of Christ means Anti-Christ, The Devil's name is Vicar of Christ, so you don't call him Lucy, but Vicki. Hmmm. That would explain Vicki Gene Robinson the Episcopalian Queen, er, Bishop.

Asked and answered. Next.
No. You have not answered the pertinent question as to where your dogmatic authority comes from. You posted that you do not want to answer it.
I wonder why you do not want to tell us why you are right and all those who disagree with you are wrong. Is it because you HAVE no authority to shout everybody else down?

Havoc writes:
Which is why snipes are brought in in the first place - to ask a gazillion general questions, flood the thread with non answers and destroy the cohesion of the debate.
Snipes?
Uh, there were several specific assertions made by Havoc (and others as well) about various items on this thread. Several folks requested specific sources for the assertions made - assertions being represented as fact.
I can think of one that come to mind (among several). The first was that Pope was praying to Mary for his Salvation. A request for a link was requested. Ultimately, what was provided was (paraphrase) "I head it on a tape". No tape number. No tape transcript. No date.
Sorry, but that does not constitute a debate. If comments are being represented as fact, they should to be backed up. If one offers an opinion, that's different. But it is bad form to characterize requests for citations, in response to statements asserted as fact, as "destroy[ing] the cohesion of the debate"

Yeah, quite a number of cute names ole Nick seems to have got on this thread, eh? First luci, then Vicki and since Julius was a Vicki too, that means we can add Julie baby to the list.

"Pagan" and "propaganda" share the same root. The Latin word for "country." To propagate the faith is to take it out of the cities and out to the boonies. And out in the boonies, people still clung to the "old" "pagan" beliefs. I'm sorry, that's just almost too funny to believe. I'm noteably skeptical based on what I know now about the Waldensians; but, if it were true, it'd be a nice one to point to for a good joke now and then. Can you provide a citation for that which doesnt' come from Catholic sources? Cause many of these I see are CYA's and in the case of the Waldensians, I know that whole episode has been a matter of false accusation and vendetta. Unfortunately for Rome, it appears some of their writings survived them as well as part of the sect..

The more you hang around with Havoc, the less sense you make. Is his approval really wirth that much to you?
(Remember protocol Dave).
You've chosen some beauties to "hang out" with on this thread. Which, if any, do you most identify with? Perhaps the "heretic killer"?

post 920:
Just what I said, Rome anathematizes Paul. Not by name lest it should be so blatent.
Nope, Rome (the city and Vicki) anathemize Paul, BUT they don't use his name. They say that a certain New Testament writer and preacher should be anathemized, even if he is held to be the great evangelist, he should be anathemized

That's what Vicar actually meant Vicar=lion tosser = anti Christ.
Webster's Dictionary - Uabridged. vicar [OFr. vicaire; L. vicarius] 1. a person who acts in place of another, a deputy.
What the heck was YOUR source, or did you just make that nonsense up?

Then we are closer in agreement than thought.
I definitely do not believe the two natures separable. I am a father and a husband, and I can speak and act from either capacity without diminishing either role or my person. Thus, Christ.
