Three men are in custody this hour after allegedly photographing sites around the local refineries Wednesday in Delaware County. Police sources confirm that the three men are in custody and are being questioned about their activities.

The men were apprehended by Marcus Hook police.

The FBI will assist with the investigation.

Sources also tell Action News that the alleged suspects were videotaping the refineries and tanker ships.

If you watch the video , it says that they lied about what they were doing when first questioned.

My cousin has an obsession with trains: model trains, train dispatch games, rehabbing old locomotives, and even running scenic train loops.

He'd spend a day driving around to intersect with trains crossing bridges or other dramatic views, so he could photograph them.

Wonder if he does that now.

I would hope that dirty Arabs photographing refineries and tanker ships is probable cause for home searches and deportation to Gitmo.

Quite a concept imagining Marcus Hook as the next battle in the war on terror.

Don't even joke about that ....I live just across the Delaware River in Jersey.

Interestingly, the S. Philly area is one of the few places in the US where tankers come in close to land to unload oil for refining. In most places, the tankers stand offshore and transfer their load through a long pipeline,
Lots of tankers come inland along the Gulf Coast..... How about Valdez Alaska for loading...... You maybe thinking of LOOP.... Louisiana Offshore Oil Platform which does off load tankers that require up to 85 ft. of draft...... I think they have some 115 ft.

LOOP is America's first and only deepwater port operating under U. S. and Louisiana licenses. LOOP provides tanker offloading and temporary storage services for crude oil transported on some of the largest tankers in the world. Most tankers offloading at LOOP are too large for U.S. inland ports.

John Kerry will ensure that nothing bad will happen to us ever again. Because he will talk with these people.

Kerry is a great negotiator who knows how to make the bad guys smile.

He did that during the Vietnam War.

Look at the future he arranged for the South Vietnamese.

Imagine what he can do for us...

There's always a reason to arrest someone if you look hard enough.

And this a good thing?

My husband finished reading David McCullough's history of the Brooklyn Bridge a short time ago. He thought it would be neat to take pictures of the bridge and show them to his physics students. Then he realized he would not really want to do that.

It's certainly a different world than it was three years ago.

Hmmm...

Taking pictures is now an arrestable offense?

In short, Yes it is. I was almost arrested for taking pictures of airplanes at my local airport. What was worse was the fact that a national guardsman pulled his M-16 on me and decided to prove that he could actually load rounds into the chamber. I was finally allowed to leave even though I was told multiple times I was "breaking federal law", was engaged in "terrorist activities" and could be sent to federal prison for a "long time".

The next day I was told by the b*tch in charge of security that I had indeed broken federal law and could have been arrested and turned over to the FBI for "terrorist activities". When I asked her what law I broke, she told me I was not allowed to know about it as it was only to be known by the airports and airlines. When I asked if it was an FAA regulation (this was before the TSA existed) or a law passed by Congress she again said I was not allowed to know.

In the end, I found out that she was full of sh*t. There was not and is not any law against it. I ran afoul of a Texas A&M University rule (TAMU runs our local airport) but the b*tch was under orders not to tell anyone.

I've spoken with other plane spotters who actually have been arrested, had equipment confiscated or destroyed, and even been injured by cops with a Gestapo complex. Taking pictures of anything Post-Sept. 11th is a dangerous hobby, especially if it is something that most people would consider it "odd" to photograph.

We'll find something and photo and fingerprint them while we doing it. As screwed up as our INS is, we can also see if they are here illegally and ship them out if so. Damn good police work though.

Ya well... when you need to manufacture reasons to hold folks, I consider that sloppy police work.
