LM here.

It's been a while since we had a thread along these lines.

I can tell from comments I am seeing in threads, on abuse reports, and in Freepmail that some people are unhappy with various policies and their implementations by the staff here.

I've seen allegations that certain factions are picked on. I've seen allegations that the moderators have killed activism. I've heard rumors that we killed Kenny, and even that we killed the radio star. I see certain personality conflicts acting up, and know that one (or both) sides in it feel that we aren't doing what we should.

So let's open this can of worms.

This thread is for making your grievances heard. If you think something stinks or is wrong, make your case here. Back it up with facts. Let the audience at large weigh in on your evidence.

I'll read the thread. Jim will too in all likelihood. So will the other moderators. Depending upon how well you make your point, and depending on if you can convince Jim, me, the other moderators, and/or the world, maybe you can change things. And if you don't, then it might make you feel better to have vented, so it won't make this thread a total loss.

I'm not going to reply to this thread for quite a while. Rather, I am going to sit back and watch to try and get a feel for the general tenor. I encourage those who are both happy and unhappy with things to particpate in this thread.

Do the moderators want to be alerted to headline typos so that they can be fixed? And if so, what's the proper channel for doing so (abuse button, freepmail, etc.)?

Yes, please. The best channel is the abuse button, for that and similar items requiring mod attention, even when (as in your example) no abuse is involved.

Usually we'll preserve headline typos, if they were in the original. SheLion may recall a rare exception.

Question.... Why do so many smart people on FR get completely flummoxed by where "chat" is, and why do those who can find it feel insulted to be forced to go there?

So, am I insulted when my news photo and commentary thread, which is described by fans as "informative" almost as often as it's described as "funny," is moved to a place where people are captioning cat photos and discussing college roundball?

You are correct, but it is still my understanding that it is not a 'file' of comments kept separately. It is produced when you click on 'my comments' or 'in forum'.

As the the specifics, you would have to ask John Robinson. He does the FR sofware

I was always against the move to turn FR into a Republican cheerleading site. To me Statism is the problem and Republicans have us heading there in overdrive.

I agree with the above post. The state is the enemy and the Republicans are smitten (or drunk) with the co-ercive power that is the state.

I enjoy reading what the liberal "disrupters" have to say. I don't usually get to hear it on the street. Many are not highly educated or very articulate.
