March 15 (Bloomberg) -- Spain's 1,300 soldiers in the U.S.- led coalition in Iraq will be withdrawn unless there is a United Nations mandate requesting their presence, Prime Minister-elect Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said today.

He said the Spanish troops would leave Iraq by the coalition's June 30 deadline for the handover of power to Iraqis.

The burqa is drawn--but they are still going to be shot.

I hope that they don't ask us to help in the future. As far as I am concerned, Spain (Sunday) joined the "Axis of Weasels".

The weasals know, if they really get into trouble, that the good old U.S. will come galloping to their rescue. The edge of the abyss and beyond beckons them.

Everytime a bomb goes off the UN runs for the tall grass. So what's the difference?

I say bye bye fair weather friends.

I cannot help but wonder: Is there a Churchill for England and all Europe this time? Is it Tony Blair? (I don't think so).

They are surrendering to terrorist but the bigger problem is this comes about because of the Democrats dividing America in a time of war.
I hope the folks here remember that when it comes to our soil to stay and find them a Democrat to address.
Every war since WW@ has been lost by America because of liberals whining and dividing America but when the rat's come home to roost it will be too late.
If 9-1-1 is forgotten America's goose is cooked.

Spain lost their country to Islam once already.

It happened before. IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

You know...

I suspect he'll learn quickly that this type of talk is one thing when you're not in power, and quite another when you are.

Saying "The war in Iraq was a disaster, the occupation of Iraq is a disaster" won't do him well when he has to talk with US or British leaders, which obviously he will need to do.

Personally, yes personally, attacking Blair and Bush as he's done today will cost him too.

This man isn't fit to lead a nation. At least not yet.

My bitterness dictates a second post of this.

OK, folks, this is tongue in cheek. I'm mourning this news bitterly this morning...

ESPANA SE RINDE...

...and Espana ran away. Bravely ran away, away!

pipes playing..

When danger reared its ugly head,

she bravely turned his tail and fled. (No!)

Yes, brave Espana turned about (I didn't)

And gallantly, she chickened out.

Bravely taking to her feet, (I never did!)

She beat a very brave retreat, (Oh, lie!)

Bravest of the brave, Espana!

"Mr Bush and Mr Blair need to engage in some self-criticism.
You can't just go ahead and do things. You can't bombard a people just in case they pose a perceived threat," Zapatero said.

"You can't organise a war on the basis of lies," he added...

So Blair and Bush are directly called liars bythis elected leader of the Spanish people.

Yes, diplomacy at it's finest.

Euros do believe in diplomacy, right?

I was finally feeling good about Spain they were so isolationist, only time you heard about Spain was at running of the bulls day. Well they had their chance to become a nation of honor, but now they will slip back to the past.

Gee thanks Spain. Thanks for capitulating to terrorists. Thanks for encouraging them to blow more people up so they can get what they want. Thanks a whole lot for nothing.

I hope they do ask us for help in the future and you know they will.....but that doesn't mean we have to come to their rescue. I say to Spain....fight your own battles.

The socialists see their political fortunes waning on both sides of the pond. This is all that is driving them. They won't stop until they reclaim power. In their twisted world this power is all that matters.

It never mattered to a socialist how many people have to die, only that they remain in charge.

History teaches sad lessons.

A travel agent friend of mine has told me that the Iraq War was hugely unpopular in Spain. I suspect that Spain would have become a less active participant even if Anzar's party had won the election -- there just wasn't enough room to maneuver, politically-speaking.

OTOH, this new government is about to learn that there are certain external limits on Spanish foreign policy. The US & Britain are going to woodshed this new prime minister even while they are publicly congratulating him on his election victory.

Anybody know the status of the feud between Morrocco & Spain? You can bet that the US might just become neutral in that one. Oh, and US arbitration on the dispute over Gibraltar, you can forget that one too.

I now throw the spanish in with the french and germans, and completely turn my back on them. They can all die in an islamo-fascist dungeon for all I care.
