GR Peace Group plans Rally on War Anniversary

The West Michigan Justice and Peace Coalition, an amalgam of over 20 local peace groups, will sponsor a rally on Saturday, March 20, the one-year anniversary of the commencement of the Iraq War, at 1 PM at the Calder sculpture on Ottawa at Michigan.

Participants will march in the downtown area culminating at the Calder for speeches and entertainment. The participants are are being asked to 'vote with their presence' against the lies which brought about the war.

We will gather in Rosewood Park at 9:30 am and begin with an indigenous ceremony. At 10 am we start the march down Rosewood Ave. We will go past the complex where Sophia King was shot by an Austin Police officer and stay for a moment of silence. We will then pass the new homes being built as part of a gentrification plan and we will end up the Police Headquarters for a rally between 11:00 am and Noon. Some people will leave from there to travel to Crawford, Texas for a peace march and rally.

Btw, I have a great method for composing signs.
After you 'posterize' the sign and print it out,
you can put the pieces together and then take it to
kinkos to get laminated. I did this for my precinct chair signs and I am sure it helped get me noticed!
