Media War Against Bush
The Reality Check ^ | 13 March 2004 | Randall H. Nunn

Posted on 03/13/2004 7:53:34 AM PST by Lando Lincoln

It is quite clear by now that the media elites believe they can oust President Bush by orchestrating a campaign against him that is unmatched in its scope and single-mindedness of purpose. Rather than changing their ways in response to the increasing criticism they are receiving because of their pervasive liberal bias, they are becoming more determined and more partisan than ever in their drive to install a far-left Senator with little experience and even less principle as president. The battle for the presidency will be between these liberal media moguls aided by the far-left anti-war, anti-Western radicals and average Americans of traditional values aided by talk radio, the Internet and the few unbiased media outlets like FOX News and The Wall Street Journal. In other words, principled middle America against the far-left ideologues.

The leftists in the media might have been able, once upon a time, to create a tidal wave of public opinion against Bush through a campaign of misinformation and bias, but with the Internet, talk radio and a network willing to give balanced coverage, they are in for a real fight. And hopefully, the results in November will go a long way toward breaking the back of the huge liberal spin machine that much of the media has become.

In the past year, we have seen scandals at The New York Times involving its senior management failing to supervise journalists, allowing and encouraging inaccurate and biased reporting to be published. We have had a number of books published detailing not just the liberal bias in the media but also the arrogance of those in the media who are the biggest purveyors of this bias. There are books about women in the media who spin their liberal webs of propaganda and attempt to set the political agenda for American women--a liberal agenda. Yet all of this criticism and all of the counter activity seems only to have infuriated the media bosses and elitists and they have reacted by abandoning any effort to be objective. It is as if the media elites are saying, "Let them eat cake" to the millions of us who now see and fully comprehend their excesses, unfairness and arrogance.

The way to defeat the liberal control of the mass media is to switch to talk radio, the Internet and FOX News as the communication channels of choice. We know that we will not see or hear objective reporting or commentary on the networks or in the “mainstream” press, so why spend any time listening to it? You will find that if you listen to FOX News channel instead of ABC, CBS, NBC or CNN, you will begin to feel optimistic again and proud of your country and the ideals of western civilization. And the best part is that you won’t be made to feel guilty about having such thoughts. Perhaps this will even lead to a restoration of objectivity in the press and on television and allow both to once again reflect the values of the people of this country and not just a handful of leftists seeking to condition us through skillful manipulation of what we see and hear each day in the media.

The Greek philosopher Archimedes once said, "Give me a point on which to stand and I will move the earth." The leftist media is saying "Give us the ability to control and slant the news and we will bend the minds of the young, the unsuspecting and the uncommitted to our political and social views." And their views will produce a generation of politically correct but feeble-minded dependents of the nanny state who will be only too glad to turn over personal responsibility to government and the elitists on the left.

The immediate objective for conservative Americans who believe in limited, constitutional government, individual liberty and traditional values must be to defeat the effort by the press to destroy President Bush. With the massive amounts of money being supplied by billionaire George Soros, as well as the Hollywood crowd coupled with the near-monopoly control of the networks, the task will be difficult. But the importance of victory could not be more clear. Weakness or failure of will by the United States would be disastrous at this point, both because of the tremendous lift it would give to our enemies worldwide and because of the blow it would deliver to the confidence of those Americans who have fought long and hard for the principles of freedom and liberty. But once this battle is won, conservatives need to take a serious look at our schools and universities, as well as the entertainment industry and popular culture because the rot that has set in there needs to be countered as well if we are to avoid having the leftist ideology forced on us through unthinking acceptance of it by a rising generation that has been propagandized by those in control.

This is truly a cultural war. And it is being fought on the left by a powerful and well-entrenched media that believes it holds the high ground and the advantage. But I am betting that the Internet, talk radio and FOX News can outflank the media's Maginot Line and free the millions of information-starved prisoners in their audiences from the gulags of bias and thought control that the media have created.

Well I live in NYC and believe me you strategy is not going to work. The media has to be taken to task by someone with credibility. If the Labor party in the UK can take the BBC down a peg or two anything is possible. They just have to have the courage to do so.

There is a central problem in our politics: we mince around the elephant in the room, and that elephant is the anti-american socialist agenda of the Democrat party and their organs in the media, academia, the courts and entrenched government employees. At least Reagan could telegraph it ("There they go again..." remember that?) Bush seems to act like this is just a disagreement between gentlemen. He may not believe that, but that is how he comes across.

We can never seem to address the real predifery of the Democrat Party directly on the national political stage - maybe we should.

If we do fail to beat the socialists this country is in DEEP trouble, they will make sure they never lose power again. The constitution will be no obstacle.

Exactly. Yet the people of the nation do not see this. THe GOP needs to go right out and say exactly what you are saying. They never do - it is alway a wink, a shiboleth and a subtest. That is part of the problem. If the Dems get in brother, look out, as you quite rightly say.

I will give you an example. Why, for te love of Pete, when the dempocrats bring up the Pariot Act or cuba does not Bush bring up Waco as an example of civil liberties being oppressed by the Rats? And I mean say "the when after them because they were christians, white, and wanted government out of their lives?" Not that I am a Waco nut, I am just using it to make a point about the in ability of the GOP to use the media against itself.

Don't make the mistake to think this isn't happening. During our last Governor's election the elite media in Tennessee decided they WANTED THE RAT who was running. So they set out to report ONLY negative stories about US Rep Van Hilleary. Not one postitive story was written. Little mention of what his record was in DC. Slammed him every chance they got. Needless to say it worked. We now have a RAT gov.

If the media has such power ther must be some legal recourse to this nonsense. I do not know what it is but their needs to be a serious natinal discussion. Again the GOP should call the media on this directly.

The Mc Carthy hearings were stopped before they were complete. The many “seeds” (read CELLS) were left to grow and multiply. Ronald Reagan and Walt Disney both testified at these hearings: http://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/6458/

Mr. REAGAN: “Well, sir . . . 99 percent of us are pretty well aware of what is going on… ….with their usual tactics, trying to run a majority of an organization with a well organized minority”.
Mr. DISNEY: In my opinion they are Communists. No one has any way of proving those things. The young radicals (communists/socialists) of the 60’s have graduated from college and have become college professors, teachers, lawyers, politicians, or the business world elite. They are taking OUR country away from us and saving it for the “Future owners”.

Truer words were never spoken on this subject!

But...David slew Goliath and turned away the Philistines with a slingshot and a small stone because he had faith in, and abided by the precepts of, Almighty God his Creator who promised to help him. The army of the Left has faith in a false doctrine and in their Godless Goliath. We on the Right may have only a slingshot and small stone in comparison, but most of us have the faith in, thus the promises of, the same God and Creator who helped young David slay that giant and turn away his army. We must do battle with what we have available to us, and pray for the sustaining providence of Almighty God. His Will be done.

The culture war is essentially over and we've already lost. How so? Well, remember when the RATs had to move to the right to win elections? Now, the lefties aggressively campaign to the left, and Republicans have to move left to get elected, especially on social issues.

Here's the other thing...You'd think that in our form of government, when one party controls the executive branch, both houses of congress and the majority of governorships and state legislatures, that party's agenda would be dominant. But guess what...it turns out that the real power is in the hands of those who aren't even elected by the people: educators, media, judiciary and government bureaucrats. Those who control these components of society control society itself. Right now, and for the forseeable future, the left owns of all of those components and they are constantly increasing their power and influence.

Thank you for this response. You and I are clearly on the same page with this.

Make no mistake about it, I am aware that IF the RAT party is allowed to regain the reigns of power in this country, they will never relinquish them again under any circumstance. Their past and present actions are proof positive that they have no use whatever for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or the rule of law. The only thing that they are interested in is the acquisition of POWER. To that goal, the ends justify the means.

If this exercise in democracy is to survive, these people (liberal/socialists) must be stopped.

This AM I heard that Kerry was "firing back against right wing attacks."

Firing back? The guy has been lobbing stink bombs for months and everyone knows it. The media keeps this up and they will become absolutely irrelevant. They're not smart enough to know that their paychecks are attached to their credibility.

Ok guys--this is the first time I have posted. I love to read the posts. But today, I am going to sound off. There IS a way to beat this. But it's going to take hard work and determination. We can't roll over and play dead..and we can't let our elected officials roll over like dogs getting their bellies scratched.
First: You need to get organized and get a list. E-mail and write letters to you local papers, and even the national rags. Take common sense talking points and present them in a calm, rational manner. For example:
"Dear Letter to the Editor:
Did you know that the story about the Iraqui spy that was reported in the news the last few days was pretty well lacking in objectivity? It's shameful that the point of the story was made that the SPY arrested was a relative of Andy Card...especially when HE was responsible for sending a heads up to the FBI to check her out. You also seemed to have left out some important points; That being the spy worked for several important elected Democratics."
There--just a short note, dont accuse or WHINE for cripes sake..thats what the libs do. Just hit them..and do this with talking points everyday. There is a website to get your local papers http://www.georgewbush.com/btlhome.aspx
Write and save your editorials and letters and resend them until they get printed. Do this all summer and fall. Don't back down.
Also, get a list of our repub reps and tell them to grow some backbone and get out to the media and BE PISSED!
We have to fight fire with fire. Now is not the time to get all hand wringy and think we can't do something about this.
Also, get onto some message boards that support BUSH and tell them all to do the same thing.
Join up with the Bush teams grassroots organization and do whatever you can to help out. Not only $$$ but your time.
Ok, now did I leave anything out? Anymore ideas here???
I take this very seriosly. Lets face it folks--the Dems will do ANYTHING to get back into power. And we have to be heard..one way or another.
Think about when President Bush held the megaphone and yelled "They are ALL going to Hear Us Now" Well, we have to grab that megaphone and DO something with it!

I don't see any legal recourse. The recourse is to fight fire with fire, to ridicule the media, to establish alternative means of propaganda that favor conservative points of view, and so on. The GOP can take its message straight to the people. Just take off the gloves. Ridicule the news reports, distract the reporters on their minor errors while asserting your substantive points. There are lots of ways to wage effective public persuasion. Taking "it" to the courts (legal recourse) is submitting your opinion and message to a hostile judiciary. Ridicule the activist judiciary too. Make the news exciting, that gets peoples' attention and, if done well (some humor), gets their interest too.

It turns out that authority exists to the extent the people permit it. You are correct, that the battle for control has many fronts, and education, churches, law, and other pillars of society are worm-infested.

Don't lose spirit because liberals are annoying. Just be clear in your principles, and willing to assert resistance against the worms. After all, you have to admit, the left does not own you! Freedom is awesome, and contaigious.

Well we might reexamine the slander and the fraud laws. Certainly a person that gave faudulent information about finaicial matters and profited from it would be up for procescution from the SEC, so there are precedents (not to mention the "farimness doctrine" or the disaterous CFR law.) In a moral sense their is definately collusion. Remember that unlike print media, TV uses a public resoucrce and is

The "Fire with Fire" strategy seems to mean that they will win, if past trend are any guide. If the rats get back their full power, no conservative ownership of large media will get by the FCC.

They do really see it as a case of now or never.

The leftist media programmers didn't learn their lesson from the "gay saturation" last year nor the AOL Presents the MTV Super Bowl Half Time Show.

TeeVee viewing is largely a passive experience but every now and then people will get outraged at the insults to their intelligence and push back. A saturated media push against President Bush (with nothing but Ra-Ra for John Kerry) could just motivate people to show the talking heads wrong.

This election could be another day when "Americans threw a temper tantrum" by voting Republican.

I agree. I think it would be scarier if I didn't have faith that a large fraction of the voting public sees right through it, and is laughing at them. It is waaaay over-the-top, to the point that it's funny.

I don't believe that there has to be anyone running around telling them to do this. I think it's that "reporter", like "university professor" has become one of those professions where being super-liberal is one of the qualifications you need to be hired or accepted by your peers. I think most of this is caused by well-meaning yahoos who are acting as "an Army of one" to advance liberal politics.

The media are so drenched in liberalism now that the only noises they make are those the Democratic Party would make. The two groups don't even have to talk for this to happen.
