There is not a day that passes where I become more convinced that the liberals/socialists in this great nation of ours, are at least as big a threat to our security and freedom as any threat that we have faced since our beginning. I am dead serious in this opinion. The question is this: What the devil are we prepared to do about it?
I agree with you 100%. You also ask a good question that we better find the answer too soon or they will soon be in control of the country. Once that happens, expect them to sytematically erode the soveriengty of the United States.

If we do fail to beat the socialists this country is in DEEP trouble, they will make sure they never lose power again. The constitution will be no obstacle.
Believe me, the constitution will be the least of their worries. They need to worry about us, and they will be removed from power.

"I agree. They are a Clear and Present Danger."
We all know what the proper response to that is, don't we?

The news media made Carter president, and look how well that turned out. (A few people have told me that they bought into the media hype and voted for Carter - and regretted it - and that they wouldn't make the same mistake with Kerry)
A Kerry victory this fall would be deeply tragic - the US would pay a bitter price - but, it would be followed by 40 years of Republican control of the White House.

Some one might have a little chat with the mainstream media's legal depts. and talk about RICO charges I've been struggling with this problem for decades; the best I have been able to do is develop my ideas in this thread. Journalists do not, IMHO, so much follow leftist politicians as lead them; the rules for what makes a good story in journalism just happen to filter out conservatism and amplify leftism. Which is why journalism will always be "liberal" - and why it's so easy for "liberals" to steal a label like "liberal" and invert its meaning. Leftist politicians merely sail down the propaganda wind that journalism naturally produces.
And that is what makes McCain-Feingold so wrongheaded; CFR essentially makes "journalist" a title of nobility which entitles the owner to do what you and I are legally - unconstitutionally but "legally" - forbidden to do during the late stages of the political campaign.

Interesting. I do not have a solution, I just know their is a problem. We need a national discussion about the obvios bias in the media.

They'll NEVER succeed, BUSH will win by a high margin.
The liberal left are in for quite a shock. They're money will not win them the election, besides they've picked a guy the majority of Americans will never elect as president.

there must be some legal recourse to this nonsense. The closest I could come to it is defined here. The problem is journalism, and the worst of the problem is broadcast journalism. Print journalism has First Amendment protection, but broadcasting is regulated by the government in a way that print journalism cannot constitutionally be regulated. We should already have sued the socks off of the FCC and its licensees over broadcast journalism's tendentious calls during election day 2000. Not only the erroneous call of FL before the voting was ended in FL, but the slow call of states for Bush compared to faster calls of states for Gore with lower ultimate margins of victory.
The FCC has an obligation to assure that its licensees operate in the public interest, but the licensees twist that into "what interests the public" which is demonstrably NOT necessarily the same thing. There is actually no justification for networks' declaration of winners of states before the polls are closed nationally. Why, after all, should what are effectively rumors about how others have voted be given the government's imprimatur by being broadcast to potential voters who are, inside to polling place, forbidden to discuss how they are going to vote?

This Thread Died on 69 posts, I am not shocked that "we" already know the Media Bias is what it is, they win because they are relentless, the only way to win is to counter and be just as relentless and focused as they, problem is that people like me, they know me, my letters are un-opened and discarded, I have not subscribed to newspapers nor do I listen to the alphabet news, I contact the sponsors, I call the radio stations (They tell me they have NO CONTROL over the news feeds and they own the station!)
Folks we all have to do our part.
Anybody have any ideas for anything else I can do, I don't have much Time or Money but... I am committed (or is that someone wants to commit me?) I get them mixed up all the time.

Please take a look at my media bias thread. It does at least provide analysis and links over a range of related concerns, and IMHO if that bias is to be countered at all it must first be understood. One recommendation for Republicans this year would be to put up the money and facilities (shouldn't take much) to produce their own televised debates with a chess timer instead of journalists as the only moderator. And challenge Kerry to debate in that, truly neutral, forum.
I would expect Kerry to refuse to debate without a moderator, for the simple reason that "objective" journalists are liberals who as moderators will always give the Democrat a subtle edge. But at least the Republicans can dramatize the fact.

FReepers are awesome no doubt about it. Sometimes some one post something that contains a name, a tid bit of info and off a FReeper goes a googling. It was easy to dig up info on the NCLB that the RAT governors are squeeling about being an unfunded mandate. Seems it is VERY well funded. All the RATS know how to do is LIE and the media whores repeat it verbatium. All it takes is the WashCompost to print 1 lie and the rest of them pick it up and run with it.

I have to get to the keyboard more. This culture war, media war is combining with the war on terror and the so-called "useful idiots" to create a frighteningly deadly situation.Big yup on that. And great article there.

Thanks d! I have been deeply troubled of late by what is going on in the world combined by the way the mainstream press views everything. I have to find a way to to voice my opinions. Maybe if we converted to a metric clock! 100 hours a day might work!

My objective read of this situation is I have never seen it this bad. The mainstream press is dropping all pretenses of impartiality this election. Their imperative is to elect someone who is not George Bush.
The Republicans can only counter this via TV advertising since the press is in the Democrat pocket.

d, your read on the situation is exactly correct. Indeed, all pretense has been dropped and the bias is so overtly obvious. I suspect that the media suspects that their credibility is closely tied to this election. With the growth of weblogs, talk radio and even Fox, they feel their survival (of sorts) is at stake. For them, this election is a very selfish high stakes game - and damn the appearance or consequences.

Plus the press will be in a real position of power in the lest few weeks leading up to election day. As the new campaign financing law kicks in and prohibits massive TV advertising by the presidential candidates. And their parties I think. Then the real press propaganda can be absorbed without Republican TV counter messages
This is where RAT and Republican surrogate mouth pieces will kick into high gear to work around the new spending rules. As Drudge says....DEVELOPING!!!
