"Did you even read the thread before posting? Did you read the charges and evidential documentation?"
She's charged with conspiracy and being an unregistered agent of a foreign government, not espionage. That is, with an illegal attempt to influence US policy.
Announcing your intent to do so in a letter to the White House Chief of Staff is a somewhat unorthodox technique for such "conspirators", and a very peculiar activity for a "spy" - it seem to me that in such cases a psychiatric examination might be a more appropriate sort of response than an conspiracy charge.

"Lindauer doesn't have any connection to the leaks about that Wilson woman does she? Wonder just how sensitive the information was to which she had access?"
Funny you bring up JOE WILSON, his lawyer was on FOX this am and he was itching that somebody in the White HOuse had it out for old Joe and that is why they leaked his wife's name. He gave no evidence, other than Novak knew and he should tell what he knew.
His appearance seemed to be fill time in the middle of the bombing in Spain and JFKerry calling the White House liars and crooks. The Joe Wilson spin got little attention.
Who knows if there is a connection, but these people sure are useful tools by those holders of office.

Today looks like a step closer to getting to the bottom of all that appeasement and stonewalling before, during and now after the Iraq war.

Wasn't spying against your own country once called TREASON, and wasn't there a much more severe sentence for people who committed TREASON than a few years in jail???

The local radio reported that the judge confined Ms Lindauer to a group home and advised her strongly to get a psychiatric evaluation.

She has an attorney named "Peter Johnson". I bet he took some kidding in school.

Oh, I don't think there is an insanity defense here, but in her brief appearance on local tv she appeared none too steady in the emotions department..It will affect sentencing more than a determination of guilt, I should think.

I saw them walking her out, and she was ranting, saying I did this and that and the other thing, I did it all!!! 'My words'!

Seven hundred thirty-four posts are saying a woman who
claims women are worse off in Iraq than before the war,
who served four Democrats in Washington, who advised
an undercover FBI agent whom she took to be a Libyan
spy on methods of supporting the post-war Iraqi resistance
now boasts she's done more for peace than anyone else?
I am shocked, shocked.

WHO WAS THE UNNAMED U.S. GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL...? Next paragraph said:
...a government official, speaking on condition on anonymity, said the recipient of the letter was White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, a distant cousin of Lindauer.
Not sure why, a year after that, with her attempts to solicit "foreign resources to support resistance groups operating within Iraq", the charges are no more serious than they are.
I guess that sort of thing is just normally excused for Democrat operatives.

Wow, Grampa. I didn't know she was related to Andy Card. Thanks for posting:
A federal indictment states Susan Lindauer in January 2003 delivered a letter to the home of a U.S. government official saying she had contacts with members of the Saddam Hussein regime "in an unsuccessful attempt to influence United States foreign policy."
CNN has learned that the government official mentioned is White House chief of staff Andrew Card.
White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Lindauer is a distant cousin of Card's and that his last recollection of seeing her was "in early 2001 around the inaugural events."
McClellan said Card "cooperated fully with the investigation" and views this "as a very sad, very unfortunate incident."
McClellan said Lindauer made "various attempts" to contact Card and said she was in contact with the Iraqi regime.
Card "brought that to the attention of the appropriate officials" at the Justice Department, McClellan said.
A government source told CNN that Card was not home when Lindauer delivered the letter to his house.
The source said Card immediately notified the Justice Department and turned the letter over to authorities. Card also informed President Bush of the investigation, the source said.
