A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Pressuring God
Read: Matthew 26:36-46
O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done. Matthew 26:42
Bible In One Year: Numbers 34-36; Mark 9:30-50
Under General George Patton's command in World War II, the Third Army had been driving back the Nazis until fog and rain forced the troops to stop. Patton telephoned a chaplain to ask, "Do you have a good prayer for weather?" Immediately the chaplain complied with the general's request. He wrote a prayer, which Patton ordered to be printed and distributed to the 250,000 soldiers under his command, directing them to pray for clear weather.
The Scriptures teach us that God wants us to bring our requests to Him, and we can be confident that He cares and will answer (Philippians 4:6;
1 John 5:14-15). But He is never obligated to answer in the way we want or just because many people are praying.
When the Son of God was agonizing in Gethsemane, He made His request in humble submission to His Father by saying, "Your will be done" (Matthew 26:42). That Gethsemane principle ought to govern all our praying.
The Father's will is always infused with infinite love and wisdom. So instead of trying to pressure God because we think He's obligated to us, we as trustful children gladly commit to Him our desires. Whatever He grants will prove in the end to be the best of blessings. Vernon Grounds
So lift up your heart to the heavens;
There's a loving and kind Father there
Who offers release and comfort and peace
In the silent communion of prayer. Anon.
Instead of trying to twist God's arm, put yourself in His hands.

A copy of the email I sent out to family and friends this morning. And since I count everyone here as "family and friends" it belongs here also.
Just to let everyone know that Jeff is back in the US. After they left Iraq they went to Rhein Main AFB in Germany where they spent 18 hours on the ground with a broke C-17. After it was repaired they spent another 9 and a half hours in the air before they landed at Fort Bragg, NC. He said they got in at 2:30 this morning and he called us at about 6:15. He will remain at Bragg for 11-14 days give or take a few before he gets to come home for good. Needless to say it is a great relief to have him back on American soil again.

And it is glad we are to
be "family and friends!"
Knowing Jeff is safely back in the States fills us with delight, ladtx. As you know, there was a lot of prayer invested in his very long year - for him, and his family.
Speaking of family, last night I'd asked Mixer when his child is due to be added to Our Family.
This was his response:
" Due date is June 7th LadyX. Thanks for asking. We are so excited. I will be posting pictures here in the thread as soon as I recover from the shock of being a dad : )"
Billie has created a wonderful atmosphere where persons become friends, usually without ever seeing one another, crossing all generational or other lines.
I know all who come here are as appreciative of the dedication of our hostesses and hosts as I am.
Mixer, thank you for providing and maintaining the Anniversary Calendar for us, and joining us here when you are able.

Looks like you and Aeronaut were waiting at the door this morning. :) I like knowing you're flying overhead, protecting the skies above us, Aeronaut. :)
Sorry I'm 'late' - Fridays aren't my best days to post early. :) (Well, neither are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays LOL)
Not a word from you about that, T Man, please! LOL
