I can't remember if this is his second or third marriage. I do remember his first blushing bride ditched him pretty fast after he retired from Sumo.

"She must have married him for his money or was it for his body and good looks? Gross!"

Actually, Sumo wrestlers are worshipped as demi-gods in Japan. They usually marry the cutest tiny little women (like many of our biggest NFL stars often do as well).

Actually, I don't think that there are any Japanese women who are not tiny.

I remember back in the 80's when Konishki first hit the Sumo scene...the Japanese called him the "Meat Monster". I met him once in Yokosuka in 1991 when he visited the USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62) at Yokosuka. He had to sit on a weight bench that was brought out, no chair was big enough. I have one of those Japanese autograph squares signed by him, Akebono and Musashimaru. The first time I was stationed in Japan was 1977...they had "Jessie" then, with the big sideburns.

Way to go, Sally!

My favorite bouts were when he'd fight the Yokozuna Onokuni. It was like watching cells divide.
