Less than a week after CBSs John Roberts filed two reports about how Republicans are furious at President Bush, Sundays CBS Evening News, anchored by Roberts, showcased a story about a 50-something Republican couple in Ohio who are disillusioned by President Bush over his tax cuts, how he lied about Iraq and how hes focusing on gay marriage when there are a million domestic problems that are more pressing.
CBS on Sunday launched a new series, American Voices, and it just happened to highlight the Republican couple who criticized Bush from the left. Reporter Gretchen Carlson warned that if what we found, talking to one Republican couple in Cincinnati this week, is any indication, the President faces some new challenges.
Carlson relayed how they say they are fiscal conservatives. Both voted for George Bush in the last election. And both are disappointed with the direction he has taken the country. The wife complained: I cant believe that we can actually run a war in Iraq and have tax cuts, it doesnt make any sense.
Carlson proceeded to note how they both fault the administrations handling of the war in Iraq and the war on terror with the wife declaring in Dennis Kucinich fashion: I think we were lied to.

Aside from high profile pro bush democrats like Zell Miller and Ed Koch i dont have to look very far to find former gore voters who will vote for Bush.

What will be telling about Ohio is what % of Republicans bother to vote for Bush in the primary.

You beat me to it. Yes, there are gonna be a lot more dems voting for President Bush than one can imagine. Even Zell Miller said that a long time ago. The Dems have no platform only attacks and the American people are not stupid. However, let's wait until President Bush wins by a landslide...then no words will be needed.

I think we were lied to. I know I was lied to by the Left.
Leftist lying convinced me I had to get out of the Democratic party.

I wonder if CBS has done a story featuring Miller and Koch about their decision.

What is needed is to look up the names of these GOP stalwarts, and find out how much they donated to Dem candidates in recent election cycles.

Gee, don't you remember a few years back, all the Democrats they interviewed who were disgusted by Clintoon's behavior in office?

...and it just happened to highlight the Republican couple who criticized Bush from the left.Interesting to note that they don't highlight those who criticize Bush from the right, despite the "conventional wisdom" around here that the liberal establishment wants to encourage such a thing.

My experience is the same. I know 2 former Gore voters who are very active in responding to editorials and other letters to the editor defending the administration, calling the lies just that and setting the record straight. They have done this for 3 years despite the social ostracism that has hurt them tremendously. The other night, the one w/a professional degree told us he would certainly be bringing more than one other former Dem w/him as a Bush voter.
Everyone else I know will be voting for Bush, as they did in 2000.
To: Bikers4Bush
I don't think that means zip. I am a big Bush supporter and I did not vote in the Michigan primary. I know a lot of conservatives that did not either. He had no serious competition. A lot of people won't bother.
