The first vote is to end the fillibuster. I'll post the other votes on this thread when they happen and when Thomas prints them. On this first vote, a YEA vote ends the fillibuster.
Everything should happen in the next 30 hours since cloture was invoked. However, right now - Drunken swimmer Ted Kennedy is going on a very long rant.

As has been said, you can vote FOR cloture and still vote AGAINST the bill or vote to keep the AWB amendment on it. Keep up the pressure.

Yippeee!!!! I come from one of the few states that had both Senapigs vote Nay. Both NJ Senapigs are such champagne socialists. Yuck. I'm going to call both there offices and make the staffers squirm:
Me: "What is Sen. Cortizone's position on the bill that will prevent lawsuits by families against gun manufacturers?"
Dumb Lib Staffer: Oh, Sen. Corzine is for familes, blah, blah, blah.
Me: So you mean to tell me that Sen. Corzine thinks that manufacturers should be held responsible for the intentional MISuse of their producs?
DLS: Uhh.....
Me: So if someone were to attack my brother with a knife or hammer, I should sue Stanley. Or if drunk driver hits me when I'm walking home I should sue Ford?
DLS: Uhhh......
Me: I thought so. Sen. Corzine is dumber than a box of rocks.

For a while I lurked over there and posted ridiculous extreme left-wing crap. Stuff like:

The Second Amendment... America's Original Homeland Security! Isn't that on the back of my NRA t-shirt?
To: CedarDave
S. 1805 (Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act ) Measure Title: A bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages resulting from the misuse of their products by others. I really don't know much about this bill so let me ask a potentially stupid question. As most of you know, here in Washington D.C. in 2002 we had a couple of snipers running around picking people off at random. From what I can recall, the gun they used was bought at a gun store in Washington State. Furthermore, it turns out that the gun should have never been sold due to a restraining order against the purchaser. The gun store apparantly didn't conduct the required background check, and also from what I understand, can't produce a record of the transaction.
If this bill were to become law, is the gun store owner free of any civil liability for their actions? If so, I have a hard time supporting this bill. If this is the case, I'd much rather see restrictions limited to an end to liability for gun manufacturers rather than the dealers.
To: Blood of Tyrants
I just read the bill and I couldn't find anything concerning AWB. There are no listings of amendments for this bill. Did I miss something here?
Or is this just a amendment that we know is comming but hasn't been proposed to the bill yet.

(Why dont the Democrats just run a ferret. It would make more sense.)
To: jjm2111
I say that the two are mutually exclusive because one of the primary unspoken and unwritten planks of the Liberal Party (i.e. the Democrats) is the elimination of gun ownership by private citizens. MANY of the most liberal Democrats have stated that if they had the votes, they would send the police around to gather up all guns.
If your friend was truly as passionate about the 2A as you say, he simply could not align himself with the Liberal Party. And if your liberal friend is as liberal friend is as liberal as you say, he will vote for whatever Rat is running, regardless of their stance on the 2A.

I personally will not vote for any Republican regardless of office if he/she extends this ban. Grow a Spine Republicans! (President included) You've got to be kidding me. You really think that this is worth electing John Kerry over?
To: CougarGA7
There is talk of attaching the AWB to this bill by the most extreme anti-gunners. Perhaps they haven't done it yet and plan to before the bill comes up for a vote.

Not surprising, our RAT, Dickbrain Durbin, voted Nay. But our retiring Pubbie, Peter Fitzgerald, voted Yea to end the filibuster.
