"Montgomery County (MD) cable provider, Comcast, is dropping FoxNews from its Basic Service as of March 1. To get "fair and balanced" news coverage in this area, it will cost an additional charge of $32.22/month. Let Comcast Cable (P O Box 17461, Baltimore, MD 21297) know you want FoxNews to remain on Basic Service."
OK. A couple of questions: First, what's the source of this information? Second, if your provider is dropping FNC from the basic cable lineup, what all does that additional $32.22 charge give you. Certainly it's not just FNC, right?

If the newbie bothered to read the posting guidelines he would notice that the news forum is for published news items and not for vanity posts. The newbie would be better served by posting some comments to existing threads and participate in the discussion. Newbies that sign up just to post a thread that is not even an article, and then don't even bother to stick around to discuss the topic will often find themselves the object of scorn, derision, and yes even a healthy ZOT.
The thread and poster just appears a little suspicious and under the heightened FReeperland Defense Alert status, suspicious behavior will be scrutinized.

If faced with that decision I would be up and running on the dish.

I have had comcast for 3 or so years, and always had to pay for extra service to get Fox.

I won't even go into all the non news items I've seen in the news. He didn't even have time to reply before a zotting was being called for and if he's like most people here, he will jump on and off thruout the day so may not answer right away. I just think this whole zotting of newbies has become lame from over use.

If I lived in Maryland, I'd tell Commiecast to go to Hell, and get myself a satillite disc.

Comcast's CEO Brian Roberts is backing president Bush for reelection and the company's president, Stephen Burke, is a $100,000 'Pioneer' for Bush-Cheney.

I didn't realize that. I've been watching it here in New Jersey since impeachment. I guess I'll pay for it if I have to.

Well, as someone who lives in Maryland, and also someone who (through no choice of his own; I've faced MANY issues with Comcast and my cable signal in the last 8 months) has become intimately familiar with the goings on of Comcast, let me say this:
1. The "Basic Package", as Comcast calls it, (here) are only channels 2-24, (local channels mostly) and has NEVER included FoxNews.
2. If the poster is talking about the "Expanded Basic" service (which IS what includes FoxNews as well as CNN and MSNBC, which by the way all 3 are in the same "group" of channel, namely the 70's, thus I would wonder if they're going to get rid of all news organizations in that group, or just FoxNews), I've just checked with Comcast on the Internet, and according to the channel list there, there is no notification that the channels for the "Expanded Basic" package are going to change anytime soon.
Bottom line, I would respectfully submit, Stonenots, that your information is wrong, imo. Either you are mistaken, or a troll.
To: freeperfromnj
Yeah, it's like extended basic or basic plus or some designation. But it gets me USA also, which has some fairly decent new programming.
To: Stonenots
You really want to screw with their heads. Cancel cable, and order XM Radio, switch to to fox news,
9.99 a month what deal.
Hey Britt I have bought two new satellite technologies because of you.

After reading post #56 I realize that it's the "expanded service" that I get. Must be a step above basic.
To: freeperfromnj
And we keep cable tv since we have cable internet. Just don't get a comparable service with other highspeed providers.
