February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

CB uses an HF band, but it is at 27 MHz and is limited to 4 watts output, which means that it is not always reliable for long distance communication.

FYI, repeaters are only used by hams from 28 MHz and up. The aren't necessary any lower in frequency because the HF frequencies already have the capability to travel long distances via ionospheric skip.

Was it the storm clouds, sun spots or Area 51?
Valley has keyless encounters of the weird kind

If the aliens were in Vegas, they were there to stop AlQ for us! And they know someone has 200 missing keys from Los Alamos!

TROUBLED KINGDOM
Saudi tourism: No Jews please
Islamic nation opens to holiday travelers, but not all

Posted: February 27, 2004

Saudi Arabia will begin issuing tourist visas for the first time, bringing more attention to its restrictive policies, which include banning Jews.

Travel to the desert kingdom has been limited to business, employment, pilgrimages and specially approved visits, but in the next several weeks a new tourism law will be enacted, reports Arab News, an official English-language newspaper.

Not only that though, the Sheik visited more mosques than the ones in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

So, if they are announcing they are monitoring those...that also should give a heads up to, say, the ones in NJ.

Unless those are being monitored too, but quietly?

RUMSFELD: Taliban is broken, Bin Laden hiding
The Union Leader ^ | February 27, 2004 | JOHN J. LUMPKIN

Posted on 02/27/2004 12:48:59 AM CST by Anti-Bubba182

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - With stronger assistance from neighboring Pakistan, military operations against the al-Qaida terrorist organization have made new progress, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Thursday.

But Rumsfeld was vague about prospects for capturing al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

"One would certainly hope so," said Rumsfeld, who held talks here with Afghan President Hamid Karzai as he wrapped up a weeklong visit to the Persian Gulf and Central Asia.

Check out this story:

Gasoline supplies likely to shrink, prices rise

...The vulnerability of that network, combined with low inventories of both gasoline and the crude oil from which it's made, have the government and energy experts increasingly nervous that some places in the USA will run out of gas temporarily. An accident that has disrupted shipping on the Mississippi River and in the Gulf of Mexico could trigger shortages this week.

Hmmm...maybe that accident was suspicious.
