[history]
State Attorney General Bill Lockyer on Saturday rebuffed Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's demand that he force an end to San Francisco's same-sex marriages, calling the directive political rhetoric.
"The governor can direct the Highway Patrol. He can direct the next 'Terminator 4' movie if he chooses. But he can't direct the attorney general in the way he's attempted to do," Lockyer said, adding that Schwarzenegger's written directive "was a statement designed for consumption at the Republican convention."

He can direct the next 'Terminator 4' movie if he chooses.
He can direct the California National Guard.

The AG is elected by the voters, not hired or fired by the governor. If you think Lockyer is disobeying the law, you need to recall him. That's probably not a bad idea.

Attorney General Bill Lockyer must be filling his pants. There is no right choice for him. He is a loudmouthed Democrat nutcase with aspirations for the Governor's job.
This is a brilliant move by Arnold. Lockyer must either enforce the state law and anger his liberal base or do nothing and allow Arnold to keep him on the hot seat. I love it.

There is no Constitutional Right to buggery. The US Supreme Court has recently said otherwise.

I think Lockyer just threw California to Bush in November. Yes indeed. The rats are utter fools to push this same-sex attraction crap right before the presidential election.

Lockyer must either enforce the state law and anger his liberal base or do nothing and allow Arnold to keep him on the hot seat.Is Arnold setting him up for a recall? Or is this just a chess move to check his campaign for governor in 2006?

cannot a governor FIRE an attorney general of his own State?
If yes, do it. Do it now. Then have him brought up on charges - dereliction of duty, conspiracy to defraud (as those "marriage" licences are fraudulent and cost the gay folks some long green), and impeding justice.

are you sure about that? If he is a homosexual, there would be grounds for a potential recusal.

I think we need to recall Bill Lockyer. I'm serious about this.

Does anyone in California beleive in following the laws anymore? How can we follow the law? We don't know the players and we don't have a program.
