"The marriage certificates submitted to the Department of Health Services by the city and county of San Francisco fail to meet legal standards," Schwarzenegger said in a statement on his Web site.

San Francisco on Thursday filed a lawsuit against the state of California, challenging the state law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman only, the city attorney's office said.

First off. You elected Davis in the first place. (WRONG I DIDN'T VOTE FOR DAVIS BUT I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS RECALL, THANK YOU) Second, just because someone promises a 13% cut "off the top" does not mean it will happen.(WELL IT'S A START NOW ISN'T IT...BETTER THAN BONDS) I doubt the Dems in the State Legislature would go for it.(THAT'S WHY WE HAVE STATE INITIATIVES AND THE GOVERNOR HAS A LINE ITEM VETO) CA is in shambles. You have rolling blackouts(DAVIS' FAULT, ONE OF THE REASONS WE GOT RID OF HIM AND NOW WE DON'T HAVE THEM ANY MORE LOL), Rampant illegal immigration problems(THANKS TO GWB WHO WON'T SECURE THE BORDERS AND DEPORT ILLEGALS... THAT'S THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S JOB, THANK YOU), huge social issues(WHO DOESN'T), pay huge taxes(WHO DOESN'T BUT WE'RE WORKING ON THAT TOO BY NOT VOTING FOR BONDS) And for your information I was born and raised in CA. but I chose to leave for the Midwest where people still have a sense of reality." ...YEA YOU BAILED AND WE STAYED TO FIGHT IT OUT...ANYBODY CAN CUT AND RUN...AND IF YOU THINK THE"MIDWEST" IS IMMUNE YOU ARE IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING. ROFLMAO

I have read where the city bags these folks $82 to issue the license. Who knows if there is an additional fee for the clerk to "marry" them. Maybe it is a grand plot by Idiot Newsom to generate extra revenue off of a bunch of overly emotional gays and lesbians.

Of course Newsom is going to spend that and a lot more paying legal bills in the suit he has brought against the state. My question is if the city loses, can the state bill the city for all of its legal bills generated by the city's illegal actions. Also, if things are so financially tight in all the cities of CA, just where is Newsom getting the bucks for this lawsuit?

His wife is a "celebrity" lawyer so I'm sure he thinks he has the upper hand here--at least to bring more business to the little woman.

"The people of California spoke on the issue of same-sex marriage ..."

Although based in Sacramento, the governor apparently didn't get the memo from the Sacramento Bee "journalist" who has re-named this "same-gender marriage."

Herrera said the city's case will assert that the state law banning same-sex marriage goes against California's constitution because it violates the equal protection and due process clauses.

The equal protection clause is not intended to provide "equality" among individuals or classes, but only "equal application" of the laws. In other words, if the law says that homosexual men can't marry each, then that law applies to all homosexual men with no exceptions being made for any homosexual men who want to marry each other.

gays and lesbians from inside and outside the state hurried to get their relationships validated in the eyes of the law.

Persons protecting themselves by rationalizing are interested not in finding the truth, but in maintaining the illusion that allows them to continue their behavior. For them to succeed in this, everyone must accede to their rationalization. This is why revolutionary change is required. Culture of Vice

For handing out meaningless pieces of paper? That's what we need a martyr for the cause, a straight one no less.

Arnold is walking a tightrope - trying to be politically correct and follow the law at the same time. He's going to have be a leader, and follow the law and the will of the people of California, pc zealots be damned.

It's actually more general than that. No man, homosexual or otherwise, may marry another man. Therefore, there is no descrimination against homosexual men.

"The marriage certificates submitted to the Department of Health Services by the city and county of San Francisco fail to meet legal standards," Schwarzenegger said in a statement on his Web site.

So much for the little Tea Party in Frisco. Well, the lucky couples can sell their "marriage" certificates on eBay, and perhaps make back their license fee.

An interesting side-effect of the the gay putsch by Mayor Newsom is we now have a public record of how many gay couples there are in the area. The numbers I've been reading (3000) is not exactly overwhelming considering this is supposed to be the gay capital of America.

I think this will lead to a double whammy on the gay agenda. First, the "in your face" illegality of this move is going to create a backlash among family oriented people.

Second, the small recorded number of "gay couples" is going to show they are not a significant voting bloc. Kind of like when they did the census on homeless people and found out the numbers were about 10% of what the libs had been telling us they were.

From the article:

Critics of same-sex unions say those rights can be afforded through other means, and homosexual couples don't need a marriage certificate to validate them.

Genevieve Wood, vice president of the Communications Family Research Council, said that redefining marriage might be a slippery slope.

"There are people out there ... who want to engage in polygamy, they think that's a good family structure. There are others who think that group marriages are a family structure," Wood added.

Yeah, and not ONLY THAT, but what about the other perverts in this country that will claim they have a right to marry their pet aligators, dogs, cats, turtles, snakes, etc., etc., etc. ?? They're out there too, I bet !

RINOld has reneged on his promise to not allow illegals to obtain drivers licenses

The only promise he made was to not allow them to have them without a 'background check' first.
I certainly don't agree with that, but that also doesn't mean I'm going to make things up about what he said like you have.

"We're talking about state inheritance, we're talking about state property issues, we're talking about children's issues, we're talking about power of attorney," Ralph Neas, president of the group People for the American Way, said.

And what would a "bankground check" prove? That they are either here legally which would mean that they can get a driver's license anyway or that they are here illegally which would mean that they shoudn't be allowed a driver's license...lets not mince words here but should be deported...RINOld ran on being against driver's licenses for illegals and now he is for them...GIVE ME A FRIGGIN BREAK!!! What is this another Clintonista...depends on what the word "is" is? or what the word "illegal" is? The only one who is making things up is Y O U ! ROFLMAO

You are on to something here . .

I heard the other day that legalizing gay (mairrage) was not the end objective.

The end objective is to legalize MULTIPLE PARTNERS - READ: MORE THAN ONE LEGAL QUEER PARTNER!

"Mayor Newsom took a bold step last week, and we fully agree with him that his position is justified,"

He BROKE the LAW. As Mayor, a function he is explicitly charged with executing is the enforcement of said law. He should be impeached and removed from office.

And if the lavender brigade that runs San Francisco wants to play this game for the next century, Sacramento should also.
