In case you were trying to say that some at FR had cottoned on to it being a fake while the NY Times was still saying the source was unknown---so whateth? Pffft. So, the folks at the NY Times are a bunch of chuckleheads.
Don't you want to see the proof of what I'm "saying"?
That you didn't ask to see proof implies that you already know about it.
So what is your point?

Hon replied:
Registered did it. That's a natural fact, as some used to say.
Forgive me if I use rank prejudice in appraising your post. I've only been around for a few months, but your account has a date of Jan 3 of 2004. Close enough to Moby's little declaration to cause my paranoia to kick in. I'd like to hear this from a more authoritative source.

Johnny Kerry reminds me of Haley Joel Osment in the movie Artificial Intelligence in the scene where Haley who plays a robot child stuffs his face and it starts melting. Johnny pizza Kerry looks just like that.

Huh? Is this some kind of new-fangled poetry?
The NY Times didn't say the story was real. They said they didn't know where it came from. Later they reported it was a hoax.
I have no idea what you think you are proving here. I cited the NY Times because people (maybe even you) incorrectly said they fell for the hoax. They didn't.
I then cited the NYT because some people said that they used the REAL picture to beat conservatives over the head. They didn't.
You just seem to like to hear yourself type.

"The media is the guardian of the visual image..."Who says?!! "Light said." Oh. Well then. I supposed what we'll all need to do is have our images cleared by "the media" before using them in anything other than family ablumns. Yeah, right!

The mainstream media takes FR seriously when they can use it against us. You couldn't be more wrong. A few examples I found, after a short bit of searching on FR (I know I've missed a lot more reports on GOOD PRESS that FR has gotten)...
The Hill and Political Insider cover FR and Linda Tripp - 5/30/00
UPI coverage of White House protest during the Gore Wars
San Francisco TV coverage of Gore War demonstration
Palm Beach Post coverage of loafer wearing protesters/FReepers
Atlanta Journal Constitution coverage of VA Hillary! book FReep
North Jersey.com coverage of NJ FReepers at Ridgewood Hillary! book FReep
Arkansas Democrat Gazette coverage of AR FReepers at Hillary! book signing
Bill Thomas and The Hill cover DC FReep of Hillary! book signing
Newsweek mentions FR
Cleveland Plain Dealer covers FReepers
Weekly Standard covers: 'The Hillaryites' tormentors are the Freepers, a fierce, warlike tribe from the Free Republic organization--a fire-breathing conservative band of Internet brothers who often call each other by their screen names, even in person.'
CSPAN covers FR - 4/20/02
Link to thread with links to HUGE press coverage of FReepers
FReeper guest on MSNBC - Joe Scarbourough's show
Inside the Beltway column - 4/15/03 - FR mention
Washington Post - 11/15/03 - Justice for Judges, FR publicity
Mark Levin Show - WABC Radio, 7/2/03 - FR mentioned
WAshington Post - 5/4/03 - FR and the Garofalo Awards mentioned
Fox and Friends - 4/29/03 - Freeper guest, FR mention and Garofalo Awards
ConsortiumNews.com - FR credited with Gore's decision not to run again - 12/19/02
Congressional Hearing - 9/23/99 - Julie Hiatt Steele's lawyer testifies that Free Republic is indication of VRWC
The mainstream media may not give us the same amount of coverage as they do for many leftist causes, but considering that FR is "only an internet site," and most FReepers are just plain folk doing small-scale grassroots activism, we get a heckuva lot of good press and a fair amount of respect from individual media members within the "major media."
This was a screw-up, no matter how one looks at it; and it is foolhardy to either cheer what was done or dismiss it. It's best to take a lesson from it and try not to squander 5+ years of FReepers' (nationwide) hard work and good will.

Careful, John. He gets real testy when you ask that question. If he want's to claim credibility for length of service here (which admittedly is no credibility at all) then he needs to fess up on who he is/was. Else he could be just another troll until proven otherwise. That's one reason why I've never changed my name. (The second is that I'm not imaginative enough to come up with a really good one before someone else takes it :^( )

The gist of this conversation was that Registered's fake pic stopped any momentum that was created by YOU and the photo "lake" found. I disagree. Tough luck-get over it.

Well it's clear you'd be in a position to know. LOL
Anyway, since you've been wrong on all of your other claims here, you might want to question your judgment on such matters.

Since I have not tried to make any such claim this is a specious argument, no?
And as you yourself admit, it is irrelevant to one's credibility. So why are you harping on it?

And as you yourself admit, it is irrelevant to one's credibility. So why are you harping on it? Because you kept going on an on about how familiar you were with FR long before anyone else was here. Either put up and tell us who you were back then or stop trying to make that point. We know Registered. He's been here a long time. You have a sign on date of 1/3/04. If I had to choose between the two I'd choose to believe Registered. You may still be a troll.
