February 17, 2004 -- THE misunderestimators are back, dripping with their old familiar condescension and contempt for President Bush.

Liberals who were forced by bitter circumstance over the past two-plus years to face the truth about the very formidable George W. Bush are now retreating into their old comfortable ways.

Just because I link to a libertarian site doesn't mean I am a libertarian, heck I may link a site that deals with automobiles, does that mean I am a car.

AAGh, look at the time. I'm supposed to be in bed recovering from pneumonia.

I missed good discussion while I was so sick, but no need to have a relapse by overtaxing myself for some fun.

Night all.

I am not talking about those that are so deficient that they cannot provide for themselves(although I do think that if people had more of their money back more people would give money/volunteer to help those in need). I am talking about the 17 yr. old in the projects having her 5th child so she can get another $50 dollars of food stamps. The pattern is there it is visible and it is pathetic. An example in Chicago recently involved two girls who had a total of 19 children among them living in squalor. They had these children and neglected and abused them for more food stamps.

To libs like Alter, Bush will always be a REPUBLICAN! and a conservative. He (Bush) is not one of them i.e. an effete member of the east coast liberal snob club even though he has degrees from Harvard and Yale and roots there. It doesn't matter if Bush's foreign policies change all the governments of the Mideast into functioning democracies. In fact Bush's foreign policy initiatives have been incredibly successful so far.

His critics were saying that the war in Afghanistan would fail and we would be bogged down in a "quagmire". The taliban was toppled, and Al-Qaeda was effectively crippled. Afghanistan is worlds better off now. They said the same thing about Iraq. We couldn't defeat the Iraqi army, and we couldn't find Hussein. We did both. They were wrong again. Iraq, like Afghanistan, now has a shot at a democratic government which again will be in our favor. They said that the notorious Arab street would create a mess of trouble for us. Wrong again. The critics said that the tax cut would not help the economy. They're way wrong again. In fact the critics have been wrong every time about George Bush.

Welcome to Free Republic.

Good posts.

If you're getting flak, you're over the target.

Academic achievement and professional credentials mean nothing to the resident attack dogs if you fail to voice uncritical support for the Republican party.

If we fail to voice uncritical support then we are reduced to modern day slaves. We are in America and have a choice and the ability to discuss and debate on the premise that we all want a better more conservative country. If we can't be on that page then we all have to take a look at our selves.

I think you need a bit of humility added to your pride

A_C is too young to have discovered humility.
That's a common malady of super bright kids.
Many of them never figure it out and just withdraw.
A_C will be OK in about 30 years.

A_C welcome to FR.

actually they are both eastern prep-schoold elitists. Look at the policies kerry wants and look at the policies that bush as enacted. Almost the same. But what do you expect from a bunch of Exeter academy Yale Alumni to do.

Wrong!

Do you REALLY think that Kerry would approved of these BUSH ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Stopped Clinton's "ergonomic" rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules that would have shut down every home business in America.

Stopped the US-CCCP ABM Treaty that prevented the US from deploying our ABM defenses.

Began construction of the first 10 ABM silos in Alaska so American has a defense against North Korean nukes.

Pushed through three (3) raises for our military.

In the process of disarming Libya of chemical, nuclear and biological WMD’s little bloodshed and non bribes.

Signed TWO bills into law allowing our pilots to carry handguns in the cockpit.

Pushing for immunity from lawsuits for our national gun manufacturers. Told the United Nations we weren’t interested in their plans for gun control (i.e. the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty)

Brought back our EP-3 intel plane and crew from China without bribes or bloodshed.

Signed the largest nuclear arms reduction in world history with Russia.

Changed the White House into a respectable place. Restored Honor and Dignity to the Presidency.

Began Dept. of Homeland Security after 9/11 by condensing 20-plus overlapping agencies and their intelligence sectors.

Initiated discussion on private medical accounts, and possibly private Social Security accounts.

TAX CUTS !! Turned around economy which was in recession in 2001 when he took office.

Orchestrated continued Republican control of the House and Senate.

Trying to push through conservative federal judges while stopping the liberal ABA’s role in promoting woosy, liberal federal judges.

Passed tough new laws to punish corporate criminals, most of whom pillaged their respective businesses during the GoGo 1990s when the SEC cared little about corporate malfeasance.

Reduced taxes on dividens and capital gains.

In process of eliminating IRS marriage penalty. Increased small business incentives to expand and hire new people.

Signed into law the No Child Left Behind legislation, delivered the most dramatic education reforms in a generation, challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations.

Committed US funds to battle AIDS in Africa, which is killing millions of men, women and children.

Passed Medicare Reform, authorized $39.5 billion per year for preventative medicine such as drugs and doctor visits. Includes a ten year privatization option.

Urging federal liability reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits.

Supports class action reform bill which limits lawyer fees so more settlement money goes to victims.

Submitted comprehensive Energy Plan to Congress, which would produce more oil and gas here at home while developing cleaner technology energy.

Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become irrelevant.

Changed forest management Act to allow necessary clean-up of national forests, thereby reducing fire danger.

Signed the workplace verification bill in attempt to prevent hiring of illegal immigrants.

"If you mean Bush has tried to satisfy the liberals' domestic wants, you're right. I don't think any thing he does in the way of spending will ever reconcile them to him."

Well he's doing his best:

-8.2% Government spending growth under his watch
-Amnesty for illegals, open border policy in effect
-Massive new entitlement program - first in over 40 years - grown in estimates to $540 Billion already.
-Giant Farm Bill handout

It's all about chasing votes. Of course Kerry would be much worse on all of these counts...

Happens all the time, but for some reason (liberals, religious fanatics) the government doesn't promote birth control or require these people to use an implanted contraceptive to receive public assistance.

To gain their agreement you have to think only in their box, you see. Conservative pc.

Blessings on you. You have the respect of many of the more silent here who remember what the forum used to be.

Kerry acts like an arrogant shmuck with a HUGE chip-on-the-shoulder. An example of this was when he went into overdrive OUTRAGE over the fact that Bush appeared at the Daytona NASCAR race. This is a portent of what will happen in this campaign. Bush will do something and, no matter how innocouous it is, Kerry will react in extreme over-the-top outrage. Kerry's outrage overkill won't wash well with the public.

"Bush BREATHED!!! How dare he breath! If George W. Bush dares to BREATH in my presence, I have just three words for him: BRING IT ON!!!"

In that tax range most itemize deductions and have 4 or more dependents.

Do that, and they'll be paying the AMT.

"Sacrifice" is the new liberal code word for higher taxes. It used to be "investment."......

This in itself is a revolutionary development, and a definite win for our side. First, the "tax cut for the rich" mantra was ditched for being tired and inefective, now we see the word "investment" is no longer thought to have power, perhaps because the opposite is what has transpired in the lurch the economy took with the government's "investment" in the economy through the tax cut.

Soon their semantic tool box is going to run out of tools.

Bill Clinton was the key example over the past 100 years of a man impersonating a president.

Great line; great post; thanks kattracks.
