February 17, 2004 -- THE misunderestimators are back, dripping with their old familiar condescension and contempt for President Bush.

Liberals who were forced by bitter circumstance over the past two-plus years to face the truth about the very formidable George W. Bush are now retreating into their old comfortable ways.

I went to school on an academic scholarship not a minority based scholarship.

But after you leave school all scholarships should be done away with? If it is “dog eat dog” then why aren’t you eating a dog?

LOL you can stick with that Dem all you want but I wouldn't trust Zell with my back at all. Anyone who is willing to turncoat on his own party is eligible to turn on you.

As far as being an easterner, he was. He was born in Conn. whisked as you say to Texas where he went to grade school and some high school he then went to the east during the end of high school, college and grad school. No one is trying to undermine what he did, I think you guys are just a little sensitive maybe we all need to go through sensitivity training so I can say stuff that makes you feel oh so good.

I don't have a chip on my shoulder for having AA there. I dislike it and it has been something I have had to ignore just like if someone is short or if I was poor. That is why I said I just deal with it. As far as me having this chip b/c of white guilt well I don't. I have had many friends who look different then me(skin color wise) and the majority of them are white. When people get to know each other they drop the crap that is ingrained in their head through the media and treat each other like humans that is why I don't have a chip on my shoulder.

As far as you being a conservative before I was a gleam in my fathers eye. I think he was born with that gleam and also had it in another life perhaps as early as 1200 B.C. So therefore your last statement is false(just joking with you). Basically what I am trying to say is lighten up.

If I came home from school with the argument you set forth ...I would be half killed by my father

LOL! I think my parents philosophy was that we didn't have to go to college, the other choice was death.

Look I have given you a hard time. I just realized that you are still in school and are feeling your "oats". You are no different than most young folks in that you really believe you have the answers. Certainty is a luxury of youth that maturity cannot afford.

Good old Jonathan "butt-boy" Alter. I cannot STAND that poor excuse for a man. He ALWAYS has a condescending smile on his face, almost a sneer, and he's NEVER happy...except when his buddy the Toon was Prez.

And Joe Klein -- the lying Joe Klein who for months voceriferously denied that he was the author of Primary Colors, at the top of his lungs no less -- well, who cares what a liar thinks?

Of course, Newsweek and Time and USNooze need to be reminded of these facts as much as possible, along with the fact that they will soon be irrelevant.

I like stories, intrigue me. I doubt it will reduce me to tears as the stories passed down from my family involving economic depravity are kind of depressing yet inspirational.

My Dad was keenly aware of how handicapped he was by not having a college degree, and didn't everything he could to inspire us to go to college. He kept trying to get me to study computer programming.

I am very successful

So you have told us. Over and over and over. I believe you but you keep brining up Kwanza. I wonder why? Who were you prior to Feb 8 2004? -Texasforever

Most Americans are successful that is why our country runs so well in comparison to others. I wasn't stating anything that identifies me more than others. I was stating that I meet the norm set forth in this country.

Oh, I don't know. Most of the old folks I know around here are pretty certain of themselves and their beliefs.

My Dad was in inexperienced corporal punisher. He used to slap the belt on our beds if my sister and I kept talking after lights out. Luckily my sister was nearest the door and got the brunt of it. When I started whispering to her (she liked me to tell her stories to get her to sleep) I'd piled pillows over my legs under the covers.

However, due to his lack of practice at corporal punishment he once bloodied my nose and once broke my eardrum and once broke the contact lens in my brother's eye.

I hear what you are saying but what is wrong with sticking with the core components of conservatism(fiscally) Why can't we just get rid of some of these god awful programs and why when I state that someone is not following the conservative program I get hammered as being some sort of Liberal, that doesn't foster debate. We are never in our wildest dreams gonna get an opportunity to have the House the Senate and the Presidency, especially with all these illegal immigrants coming over, we need to act now not wait twenty years and 30% of our money gone later.

I get out of Law School in one year and I have worked in firms during my summers and have had to pay taxes on my little income and I don't like the "little" taxes I have to pay now. I don't think it is fair that I work 50-60hrs. a week so that people can sit on their arse and receive welfare, I am sorry I will never sway from that idea.

Well it may seem that way but the longer I live what I don't know is far greater than what I do know. I think Will Rogers said" When I was 18 I couldn't believe how stupid my dad was. When I was 25 I couldn't believe how much he had learned in 7 short years".

What about the disabled who can no longer work? Should the government use social security money to provide for them? Do you think of the disabled as welfare parasites sitting on their backsides?
