HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - In a nondescript shop in a strip of buildings in this Charlotte suburb, two NFL greats have joined forces to achieve a not-so-modest goal: change the face of car racing. Joe Gibbs' racing organization is embarking on a program intended to establish minority drivers and teams in NASCAR -- and in the process discover the Tiger Woods of racing, a young star who could draw more minority drivers and fans to the sport.

Why can't NASCAR be left alone? I'm sick and tired of the PC police and Northeastern liberals hounding private organizations and forcing them to represent "all people."

If blacks cannot compete in NASCAR then they should leave the sport alone. Very disappointed in Reggie White. He's supposed to be a conservative.

Um, so why is affirmative action needed in NASCAR but not in the NFL and NBA??? I refuse acknowledge anyone's support of AA as an honest, non-hypocritical opinion unless they support its use in the NFL and NBA. I haven't met one yet who does.

NASCAR made a deal with the devil in Jesse Jackson and his socialist Rainbow/PUSH organization, and kept on appeasing Jackson from time to time.

These people will never be satisfied until NASCAR becomes a sport sponsored by street thugs and hip-hop artists, drag racing in low-riding '64 Chevy Impalas on $5,000 chrome tires.

Face it people - NASCAR as we know it is history. I knew it was only a matter of time before liberals destroy it just like they destroyed the Confederate flag and other supposedly racist icons.

That's the point. Even people like Reggie White passes himself off as a conservative but underneath it all is fighting against some type of racism in NASCAR that clearly doesn't exist.

NASCAR should have never aligned themselves with Jackson. Stupid, stupid, stupid...appeasement gets you nowhere except indifference from your fan base.

"We have a very similar program to the Gibbs-White effort," said Andrew Giangola, a NASCAR spokesman. "We are working with a company called Access Communications, a minority-owned firm, and we are developing a program to have five African-American or Hispanic drivers at the Dodge Weekly Series level and six crew members in the Craftsman Truck Series."

I wasn't sure how to read that... is he talking about a quota?
