NC ALERT: Leftist "anti-war" rally in Fayetteville planned for March 20, 2004
NC Peace Hub ^

Posted on 02/14/2004 10:41:05 AM PST by tgslTakoma

It seems that the usual suspects (United for Peace and Justice, International ANSWER, National Lawyers Guild, International Socialists, Muslim American Society, etc.) have had some difficulty amassing the requisite number of sheep to do another "Mass March on Washington," so they are instead planning multiple smaller events across the country on March 20th.

Heads-up North Carolina FReepers - they are coming to Fayetteville, NC.

From NCPeaceHub's website, here is their announcement:

March 20th: THE WORLD STILL SAYS NO TO WAR
Fayetteville, North Carolina- 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Local: www.Ncpeacehub.org National: www.unitedforpeace.org

One year ago on February 15th, 2003, millions of people took to the streets to say no to the impending war on Iraq. On March 20th, 2004, the one year anniversary of the U.S. Invasion of Iraq, people from around North Carolina and the South will march and rally in Fayetteville to demand Real Support for the Troops: Money for Jobs and Education, not War and Occupation. Sponsored by Military Families Speak Out, Veterans for Peace, United for Peace and Justice and over 100 local peace & justice organizations, the March and rally on March 20th in Fayetteville is part of a global day of action to say: The World Still Says No to War. Organizers are seeking endorsements, donations, peacekeepers and other volunteers. Durham and Chapel Hill bus tickets are available from the Regulator Books, the Know Bookstore, and Internationalist Books. More information is available on the web at www.NCpeacehub.org.

You'll all be thrilled to learn that the March 20th so-called anti war march and rally is being publicized by such patriotic America-loving organizations as:

International Socialist Organization

Hip-Hop Against Racist War

People's Weekly World

The anarchists at Infoshop

NC Indymedia

Bring Them Home Now (close ties to commie Leslie Cagan's United For Peace and Justice)

Military Families Speak Out, another group closely tied to Cagan and UFPJ

...and others I am sure I have missed.

Don't be misled by the "peace" protesters media spin. Peace is not what they are marching for. Their goal is to sow the seeds of uncertainty in the minds of the families of our military - "Do Americans really support our husbands/wives/parents/children in uniform?"

Their goal is to undermine Americans' faith and trust in our leaders' good judgement and in our intelligence-gathering agencies. Their goal is to monopolize the media with events like this, in which they can antagonize the public and the LEOs into reacting to their violent, hate-filled signs and chants, and then using the publicity to undermine our courts and law enforcement agencies.

These people have a goal - and it ain't world peace, folks.

Wherever they march, wherever they rally, spewing their lies for the news cameras - we need to rally and march against them, and for the US, telling the truth about them and about America and Americans.

Please, we must not let them do to America what they and their parents (and John eFFin Kerry) did to our country during Vietnam. Never again.

Never Forget.

It's extremely unfortunate that you all are so happy to lump these people in as all being "communists" or "hateful" or just trying to sow bad faith seeds.

Speaking as a North Carolinian, there are a large number of Quakers and a huge Quaker tradition, even of people in and around Fayetteville. While you might not agree with their pacifistic stands, they are getting there from a religious and moral point of view. Also there are many military families who legitimately do not agree with this war, who you should NOT be disparaging, even indirectly. It is hypocritical to do so, yourself.

Stop painting everyone with a large brush that fits your particular liking, and certainly don't take pleasure in the idea that they might be injured for speaking out for their religious beliefs! (as some posters to the forum have done) Just as you would be outraged if a leftist posting site wished harm upon anti-abortion protestors, you should not be doing the same!

Disagree, and even counter protest, but do not "infiltrate" and do not slander large numbers of people, many of whom are good people, that you do not personally know.

Shame on you! Speak your mind openly, but remember to allow others to do the same! Free Speech Forever.

Oh, grow up. Blah, blah, blah. Like we haven't heard all this before. Noone's going to get hurt by us, we're not going to infiltrate, we can tell the difference between a Quaker and a commie, but we will call traitors "traitors." Tough if you don't like it.

Yes, Fayetnam has its own Luigi's. It was the scene where a seargent went crazy and shot the place up and killed a bunch of people in 1993. I was almost at that resturant that day. I have never set foot in another one since.

While you might not agree with their pacifistic stands, they are getting there from a religious and moral point of view. Why are they marching under the umbrella of a bunch of socialist and communist groups, then?

What's moral about the Chinese communists murder of millions of their own people?

What was moral about the Soviet communists doing the same thing to their people?

And Kim Il Jong (and now Kim Jong Il) starving and murdering North Koreans?

Do tell us all, while you're at it, about Saddam's pacifist roots. All he really needs is a good ol' hug, right?

And please tell me how pacifist the PLO are, too.

Sorry, if the folks who are marching with groups who support murderers, racists, tyrants, anti-Semites, etc. - then they are going to be lumped in with the company they are keeping.

Shame on you! Speak your mind openly, but remember to allow others to do the same! Free Speech Forever.

No. Shame on you for lying down with the communists and socialists who have MURDERED hundreds of millions of their own people.

No one is lying down with anyone.

Why are they marching under the umbrella of a bunch of socialist and communist groups, then?

My understanding is that this was called by a few groups, and some, whom are also classified as socialist and communist have joined in part. I have seen many rallies and protests of Christian groups that have shared the field with other groups that they disagree with on many issues other than the one at hand, but that doesn't, nor should it stop people from gathering to express their views about the topic at hand, from war, to abortion, to civil rights.

If you weren't so busy missing my point, you might have realized that I didn't express solidarity with their view. I, in fact, gave you no indication at all what my own views on this are. You automatically assumed that because I did not join in your chorus of rhetoric, that I was one of "them".

I'm just expressing an opinion of someone who has Quaker friends. I am offended at your disregard for their following of the teachings of Christ as they feel led to do.

So stop being so reactionary. I would elaborate, but you obviously don't have the capacity to listen to any rational thought without first assigning a category of "us" or "them" to the speaker, and thereby interpreting the remarks as you deem appropriate for their category.

Not only have you missed my point entirely, but you have reacted in a way that only constitutes some shouting about atrocities that I, or anyone I know (particularly not the pacifist Quakers), would never condone; and somehow linking me to the people who have committed them! Talk about useless ad hominem attacks.

I suppose I hoped to find some mature discussion here. I suppose I was hoping for too much. Sad really.

Nonetheless, Free Speech Forever! for everyone.

You jumped into the thread, wagging your finger at me for writing about people who willingly march with communists, socialists, marxists, anarchists and all-around terrorist supportering America-hating fools; and now you're offended?

Excuse me for laughing at you.

People who march with the likes of those I have already described either do not possess faculties capable of critical thinking, or they just plain approve of the lying, murderous, anti-pacifist history of said groups.

By offering support, marching with the leftists, the "pacifists" you are defending are aligning themselves with those who support the murder of our own troops. Have you even bothered to read anything about these groups who your Quaker friends are supporting? Go to their websites and read their own words.

If you were truly a friend of the Friends, you would learn these things and discourage a group that believes in pacifism from marching with those who wish death and violence on Americans and other freedom-loving peoples, soldier and civilian.

But I don't believe that is your reason for stopping by FR last night.

I suppose I hoped to find some mature discussion here.

No you didn't sweetie. You hoped to make a hit-and-run attack, to stroke your own misplaced self-esteem. And you expected that you could make your own sweeping accusations without anyone calling BS on you.

Wrong again.

You never did answer any of my questions. If you are having trouble with the questions, perhaps you can ask your Friend friends how they can say they are pacifists, but march with so many groups with such bloody histories, and who continue with their bloody actions to this day?

It seems that since you called me "sweetie", you are either assuming I'm female, or just simple minded, or perhaps both. Re-evaluate your assumptions, please. Oh, and don't call me "sweetie".

If this were a "hit and run attack" would I have responded, or even cared what your response was? Would I have tried to explain the original posting, which actually, if you read it, there is not much contrversial about. I simply wanted to remind all freedom loving people that there are folks who disagree with them, who don't deserve to be slandered. Free speech isn't any good unless everyone can use it.

You never did answer any of my questions. If you are having trouble with the questions, perhaps you can ask your Friend friends how they can say they are pacifists, but march with so many groups with such bloody histories, and who continue with their bloody actions to this day?

I'm not sure what you wanted me to say, other than my last post that those are atrocities, indeed, and I would never condone them. Do you want me to go through each one.... "nothing was moral about...." give me a break. I'm not a moron, and I understand the point that there was indeed nothing moral about the atrocities commited by various regimes you listed. To pretend like I have to answer each one of your "questions" is just silly. I've made it clear that I totally find those actions and atrocities repugnant, as would any thinking person.

You want me to ask my Quaker friends why they still march with groups who are associated with bloody and deadly groups, perhaps I will. But I won't pretend to speak for them when I haven't discussed it with them yet. My point originally was just that my friends are good people, and yes, I was offended at the ranting on this board. Every group has it's nuts, and every side can find pictures that support their view of a "debate". People on this board (not necessarily you) have painted all anti-war folks as hatefule and anti-american, but when I look around at my fellow conservatives in this forum, most of what I'm seeing is hate toward other citizens. Citizens of America. If I were seeing informed debate, it would be wonderful, but there isn't much beyond hateful rhetoric and stereotyping here.

I don't know if I can bother with this forum anymore. You might point to that and claim this was a hit and run, but the truth is otherwise, and people who bother to read the whole thread will see the truth.

I understand why most true conservatives have left the halls of the Free Republic. I'm about to join them. I hope I find a place where discussion is more cerebral and less gonadal. I'm glad you have a forum for your type of 'discussion', but it's not what I was looking for. Good luck to you.

"Support the Troops Rally II"

We should turn this into a carnival like atmosphere where the kids can see circus clowns and the human zoo which is Answer. Can we cook out or otherwise turn this into a route of the protesters. Ready to Ridicule?

We are looking to gather people together to go to the rally in Fayetteville!

I need information, can someone contact me with specifics on what time and where this is going to happen in Fayetteville. I have never been to the city and need some help.

Why are you so obsessed with "free speech"? Are you not aware of the rest of the first amendment?

You would have more credibility if you were equally concerned with the freedom to peacably assemble, without interference from the courts and unwelcome intruders.

You would have more credibility if you were equally concerned with the freedom of religion, which includes the freedom to discriminate against non-believers who show up at your church just to make trouble.

You would have more credibility if you were concerned with the people's constitutional right to "petition the government for the redresses of grievances" without being labled "hate-mongers", etc.

You would have more credibility if you gave the entire constitution equal billing and stopped obsessing over one sentence out of one thousand or more sentences.

In other words, it's time to become a little more "well-rounded" in your understanding of what "being American" really entails.

The lefties are getting publicity, and Fayetteville Online mentions FR and the NC Chapter's counter demonstration.

The reporter who wrote the story didn't do any homework on FR before he wrote what he did, though.
