Alex Polier -- The Kenya connection

For those of you interested in the Alex Polier Kenya connection here is a summary (repeating some of the stuff I wrote yesterday and adding waht little new info there is):

Alex Polier was, as of 5pm Kenya time, hiding out in Nairobi. She and her fiance, Yaron (sp) Schwartzman were staying at the home of his parents Joseph and Hannah. The London Evening Standard reported last night that she was already in the UK. They were wrong, although there is a possibility she may have flown later on last night -- but I think it is more likely she was still here.

Alex and Yaron were moved from the family's palacial home in the upmarket Nairobi suburb of Lavington late last night to avoid the press. They could be anywhere in Kenya -- at the coast or on Safari.

Yaron is believed to work in Nairobi at a company called Film Struck Studios or possible Film Studios. The company is owned by daddy. He is believed to move in a circle of friends known as the "cokehead set". Now there is more than one cokehead set in Kenya, which attracts old wealth, new wealth, British Aristocracy and some of the international gliterrati.

Daddy is the chairman of an engineering company called H Young, which is owned by former cabinet minister Nicholas Biwott. Biwott is a nasty piece of work. Former President Daniel arap Moi's right hand man, a Scotland Yard enquiry named him the prime suspect in the 1990 murder of Foreign Minister Robert Ouko. He plundered the Kenyan treasury and is known here as "the Godfather", "Mr 15 percent" (the cuts he took when awarding tenders to multinational companies) or "The Total Man" (he owns Total Kenya). Daddy is also business partner of Naushad Merali, another Moi frontman, a multimillionaire and probably Kenya's richest Asian.

This would suggest our man Yaron mixes with the 20 and 30-somethings who are the children or spouses of Kenya's leading criminals. The senior members of this set are Biwott's Israeli wife Rita and his son in law Charles Field-Marshall, a controversial Kenya-based Canadian businessman.

Even close friends of Yaron say they know nothing of the relationship with Kerry -- mainly because no-one really knows Alex.

The British press are finding it difficult to track her down -- they are attempting to "doorstep" her. This is a tricky process in nairobi where houses sit on 5-acre plots, cannot be seen from the road, are protected by big black gates, alarms, electric fences, a host of security guards and their dogs.

It has not helped that the British press were also watching the wrong house.

The film, produced by MTM Productions of Germany and Film Studios Kenya, is being made for German television. It is based on the experiences of a Jewish family which came to Kenya in 1941 to escape the Holocaust in Germany. The producers have opted for Kenyan songs for the soundtrack to give the whole production a uniquely Kenyan flavour.

This is the second such venture by Film Studios, which also co-produced the George Adamson story movie, To Walk With the Lions. It was released last year.

The Managing Director of Film Studios, Charles Simpson, told Lifestyle that this latest project has generated interest in Germany and there was talk of another German venture coming to Kenya by the end of the year.

most of my research was from talking to people in Kenya (where I've lived all my life) -- and these folks are very reputable. Economists, political analysts and respectable members of the expat community. Google searches will undoubtedly tell you more about Nicholas Biwott and Naushad Merali. As for the Schwartzman's -- they've kept a lower profile.

But the name has appeared in the British press this morning. This from the Daily Telegraph:

Adrian Blomfield in Nairobi, writes: The woman believed to be the person referred to by the Drudge Report was in hiding at a friend's house in Kenya yesterday, along with a male American friend.

She is believed to have been in the country for at least a week and has declined to comment on the matter.

Until last year she worked for the Associated Press. As tabloid reporters began arriving in Nairobi, she and her friend were moved to an undisclosed location.

The woman's host, Hannah Schwartzman said: "I don't understand all this, but they're no longer here."

For nothing to have happened, as Senator Kerry stated today, this turn of events is very strange. I find it odd that after a producer asked her about an alleged affair she split the country and went to hide out. Of course, it's only strange if there is nothing to this story. Why jet to Kenya and hide from the press if there is nothing to hide?

An honest question: in reference to publicly available information, when are we allowed to post webpage links and/or email addresses which are available through Google or other search engines? Freepers do this regularly in regards to individuals and businesses, so if the policy has changed, we do need to know...

Thanks for the info. I ran a google search on Schwartzman - nothing. But as you said, Biwott had a bunch of articles. Just reading a few tells anyone all they need to know - he's a crook and sounds to be dangerous. This whole thing is so typical of Clintoon's crowd and RATS in general.

Great leg work. I just love industrial Freepers! Do you know if Miss Polier is indeed an intern of some type? This line from the New York Post this morning has me confused:

A woman whose name has been linked to Kerry but who is not an intern isn't talking to the press, said a man who answered her cell phone.

Also, and pardon my ignorance, but if I attempted to call a cell phone in Africa from the US, would it even ring? I can barely get service at my home in Boonieville, Alabama.
