'Bush and I were lieutenants'
George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

I saw the Ford appearance on Fox. It was not his voting record that Ford threatened over, but Kerry's anti-war activities upon returning to the U.S.
He said that anybody who went over there and got shot at should be able to come home and say anything he wants. And, he said, if you want to talk about Jane Fonda and John Kerry (Fox had put the picture up), then the National Guard issue will not go away.
A hollow threat, no doubt, but evidently all they have and Ford was willing to publicly engage in publicly threatening to keep the Bush issue alive in order to quell looking into Kerry's interesting anti-war activities.

Thanks. During the 1970s and Kerry's Vietnam Veteran Against the War days, he was frequently featured in articles in the Communist Daily Worker. Back issues of the Communist Daily Worker are available on Nexus (the companion Internet services to the law library research tool LEXUS). Any Freeper who is a lawyer should be able to get access to the Nexus database and look up the old Communist Daily Worker articles. There were a lot of photos and a lot of news coverage of Kerry's activities in that paper, as Kerry was a favorite of the Communist Daily Worker. Clearly, Kerry was working to support Hanoi openly and to undermine the American Military in Vietnam. That was his openly stated purpose in the 1970s, when he was admittedly a "radical."

That was none other than Harald Ford, Jr. He thinks he speaks for the whole Democratic Party. As long as the Clinton and the McAwful are calling the shots, Junior (I hate to say it) is just a bag boy.
Harold needs to shut up about the past anyway, considering his family.

Who to believe! Who to believe!
I just heard Catie Couric and Russert say no one has come forward and that back in 2000 a reward of $2,500 was offered to anyone who remembered Bush being there and so far no takers.
I know who I believe. No flames please, I am just reporting what I heard.

More on Harold Ford Jr, from the NRO Corner:
A NEW TACTIC [Jonah Goldberg]
I think this reader is on to something:
I saw Harold Ford, Jr., the very serious congressman from Tennessee on Fox and Friends today. I was surprised and pleased to hear from him that the Democrats should move on and forget about concerning themselves with Bushs military record. My first thought was, thank goodness, someones being rational. That was quickly followed with the same old cynical, suspicious thought: what angle is being played hear.
One of the hosts brought up Kerrys post-tour anti-war campaigning. Fords response was that if they were going to bring that up, he would bring up Bushs service record. The host moved on and brought up Kerrys voting record. To this, Ford gave the same response. In other words, he wont talk about Bushs service record anymore unless, of course, someone brings up anything uncomfortable about Kerrys past.
I laughed, turned off the TV and went to work.

Moby, is that you?
"Basically a rewrite?" It is about three times as long! Please.
How can the letter be irrelevant (because parts of it were published a year ago) when these events occured 30 years ago?
Also, nobody said anything about blindsiding them. They already know the charges are bogus gutter politics. But now there is a thorough first-hand defense of the record entered into this feeding frenzy. That's important.

ad hominim attack This phrase is the new "gravitas." I've seen it used several times by . . . ummm (don't want to impugn anyone here, wouldn't want to be accused of an ad hominim attack) . . . remember the "gravitas"ers? Well, they're now the "ad hominim"ers.

Thanks...and I stand corrected. He DID level his threat to harp on the NG issue if Kerry's anti-war AND voting record are dared to be brought up.
Good grief
Bring it ON!
To: windchime
Junior said that? Well, why am I not surprised?

see post 325.
I definitely heard Ford say that the Repubs should lay off Kerry's voting record or Bush's NG record is fair game. Which basically says that any all parts of Bush's life/history/accomplishments/evil doings are fair game and nothing of Cash 'n Kerry's is.

President Bush said that these charges have been flung at him since he first ran for governor in 1994. Of course the Dems know the truth. They prefer to throw out the charge each time, to try to fool a few more people.

You are dead wrong.
The press IGNORED Clinton's blatant draft dodging, but trumpets the baseless AWOL charge against Bush.
Methinks you are a longtime troll.
Over in DU, there have been libslime bragging that they are registered here and not suspected of being trolls.
Looks like your true nature hath outed itself, and you are caught.
Begone troll!

Thanks...I just posted that I stand corrected. They don't want their boy questioned at all, it seems.
hmmmmmmmm
As I type Chris Wallace on Fox poo poos Kerry's Fonda connection and characterizes it as "everybody does it" as in republicans dug up the picture in retaliation.

Not that I'm a dem - Virginia has open primaries and I thought it was my duty to vote.
