I saw the Ford appearance on Fox. It was not his voting record that Ford threatened over, but Kerry's anti-war activities upon returning to the U.S.
He said that anybody who went over there and got shot at should be able to come home and say anything he wants. And, he said, if you want to talk about Jane Fonda and John Kerry (Fox had put the picture up), then the National Guard issue will not go away.
A hollow threat, no doubt, but evidently all they have and Ford was willing to publicly engage in publicly threatening to keep the Bush issue alive in order to quell looking into Kerry's interesting anti-war activities.

More on Harold Ford Jr, from the NRO Corner:
A NEW TACTIC [Jonah Goldberg]
I think this reader is on to something:
I saw Harold Ford, Jr., the very serious congressman from Tennessee on Fox and Friends today. I was surprised and pleased to hear from him that the Democrats should move on and forget about concerning themselves with Bushs military record. My first thought was, thank goodness, someones being rational. That was quickly followed with the same old cynical, suspicious thought: what angle is being played hear.
One of the hosts brought up Kerrys post-tour anti-war campaigning. Fords response was that if they were going to bring that up, he would bring up Bushs service record. The host moved on and brought up Kerrys voting record. To this, Ford gave the same response. In other words, he wont talk about Bushs service record anymore unless, of course, someone brings up anything uncomfortable about Kerrys past.
I laughed, turned off the TV and went to work.

Harold Ford is angling for the VP spot with Kerry... won't happen, the Kerry people are using Ford.

see post 325.
I definitely heard Ford say that the Repubs should lay off Kerry's voting record or Bush's NG record is fair game. Which basically says that any all parts of Bush's life/history/accomplishments/evil doings are fair game and nothing of Cash 'n Kerry's is.

"...he said, if you want to talk about Jane Fonda and John Kerry (Fox had put the picture up), then the National Guard issue will not go away." I think we make out a lot better then, if both issues remain at the forefront. I believe Kerry's anti-war behavior was reprehensible and make an interesting point about Kerry's character. Sure, Kerry had every right to take the stands he did, but we've got every right to question his judgement.
