Since President Bush is not evil, no, it would not be choosing the "lesser of two evils".

Though that is a favorite phrase of some. Not very original of you.

I served honorably in the Army during the late 80s. I was called up from the Reserves for 6 months for the Gulf War. I am offended that you would attack me because I am raising reasonable questions about our President's service. When a Public Official claims that he honorably performed military service, then his claim must be supportable. It is not anti-American to demand information from our leaders.

George W. Bush received an honorable discharge.

You are refusing to look at the records available and are instead choosing to spread disinformation aka lies.

Spinning, spinning.

Stop that or you may hurt yourself

I see you give an impassioned opus on the idea of posting opinions. Some of us have a quaint notion of backing those opinions up with facts.

WTF? How do I back up my opinion of a speech with facts? I thought he looked rattled, paused alot, and looked and sounded as if he wasn't confident. How on earth can I produce an equation to prove that opinion as fact?

As I pointed out earlier, those of us who watched the interview actually posted what was said. It was anything but "rattled" or "incoherent".

Well, that is your opinion. Hardly a fact that can be proven beyond all doubt.

You may fling out such charges, but I asked and have yet to receive an example from you that would support your "opinion".

Charges? Since when does an opinion of one's demeanor constitute CHARGES?

Yikes. Get some perspective there.

Did you watch the interview this am with Russert? Pres Bush stated that all records concerning his service with the National Guard is public record.

Believe me if Ann Richards or Gore could have found something they'd of used it, they didn't.

I admire President Bush and said not a word about his being the lesser of two evils.I see nothing evil about the President..I do not trust Kerry.

The election will result in the President or the dem nominee being elected. That is the reality.

Thank you! I was so depressed yesterday listening to the Michigan guy beaming about the huge turnout and the need to keep the places open 2 additional hours. I did not follow politics closely yesterday so missed the fine details.

I read this morning that the Michigan dem party leaders were hoping for/expecting a turnout of 400,000, and ended up with only 150,000. I'll see if I can find a link.

Sidenote: Did you know that Kucinich beat Edwards in Washington state yesterday? LoL.

And you know, I recall Laura Bush answering a litle kid's question about the President's horse and she said: "Well, the President is what we call a *windshield cowboy". I almost fell off the couch laughing!!

I wonder if there is a gunrack on his truck?

BTW, thank you & all the others there w/you for your service.
I hope you are all home by November and can vote in person so the military absentee votes are not thrown away, this time.

Okay, maybe evil wasn't the appropriate word. What is word would be synonymous with "threatening the sovreignty of the United States in order to pandering to a special interest group (not to mention a foreign President)"?

Whatever that word is ... that's the word I meant to use.

Thanks for the heads up. I caught just the last 15 mins. but I was very impressed how he handled this question.

Russert: Are you prepared to lose?

President Bush: No, I'm not going to lose.

Russert: If you did, what would you do?

President Bush: Well, I don't plan on losing. I have got a vision for what I want to do for the country. See, I know exactly where I want to lead. I want to lead us I want to lead this world toward more peace and freedom....

To me that says: I have yet begun to fight.

I am offended at your spreading lies and ignoring facts being presented that dispell the disinformation you seek to disseminate.

President Bush did in fact serve honorably. He didn't just claim it, he served and was honorably discharged. You may demand the information.....you haven't bothered to notice that it has been provided again and again and again.

He came back from Alabama, took the physical with his unit and failed it. BIG difference from not taking it at all. And I can tell from experience that it is VERY hard to maintain your normal physical fittness much less the tough standards for a flight physical. And before you go expounding more unfounded conspiracy stuff, you can flunk a flight physical for simply not meeting the prescribed height/weight standards.

Your fact checking is quite sloppy. First year writers for the National Enquirer do a better job than you do.

This is taken from a post by FReeper Robert A Cook P.E. from the thread Debunking The Bush AWOL Story - Straight From The Horses Mouth:

"I'm looking at a copy of Bush's 1973 carrear summary:
As of 1 Oct 73 it credits him with duty at these assignments:

"HD TR TexANG Per ANGR36-05, SO ANG-A 158, State of Texas AG Dept, Austin, Tx and transferred to ARPC (ORS), 3800 York St, denver, CO 80205 effective 2 October 1973. (DOS TexANG 1 Oct 73)."

That means he was satisfactorily discharged ( to inactive Reserve in Denver on 1 Oct 73 (start of the fiscal year), after duty in Tex Air National Gaurd Headqtrs, and officially credited duty for the Alabama Air National Guard: ANG-A 158!

Further: His Officer's Fitness Report (OER Form) for 1 May 72 to 30 Apr 73 from Texas credits him with a routine "Not Observed" default markings - exactly correct when an officer is serving, but not at the same continuous duty station as his commanding officer. The CO can't evaluate him, and the temporary station does NOT EVER issue OER's.

Hint: An Officer "AWOL" (or under any discipline!) does not get that kind of OER."

This seems to back up my assertations earlier about his OER and the marking contained on it.

Below is the link to the page on the above mentioned discussion thread with a copy of the papers proving this AWOL story is a LIE. If it still loads, post #169 has a copy of the papers that exonerate Pres. Bush.

"Let me say huskerco that you however are wrong still. You took a quote from an officer in a magazine article and attributed it to the President's OER. Sloppy."

You assert that I am sloppy because I took an (inacurate) quote from a magazine article. I was not aware of the article. I took the quote that Lt Bush was not observed at his unit directly from his OER. Do you allege that his OER did not contain the quote?

On August 1, 1972, Lt Bush was suspended from flying by the National Guard because he had not taken his annual medical examination. I don't believe that he ever regained his flight status. Do you have some evidence that he did?

You guess that President Bush made up his missed National Guard time later. While that may be true, I would appreciate it if you could provide some evidence that supports your guess. Did he make up the missed service in Texas or in Alabama?

I am still rather confused about President Bush's National Guard Service. His OER dated 5/2/73 for the period from 5/1/72 - 4/30/73 states "Lt Bush has not been observed at this unit during the period of report." To me, that says that he did not honorably perform his National Guard service. Do you have another explanation?

If you think that President Bush's service in the National Guard was so honorable, can you explain why his 1973 Officer Effectiveness Report (Evaluation) stated that he hadn't been seen for one year?

You say that President Bush looked good landing on the aircraft carrier. I thought that he had been grounded from flying because he didn't take his National Guard physical.

WTF? How do I back up my opinion of a speech with facts?

First, it wasn't a speech, it was an interview. It's very simple. You said he was "incoherent". I'm waiting for you to produce an excerpt of the transcript that demonstrates such. You know, a sentence that doesn't make sense or is unintelligable. Something that shows "incoherence".

As to our posting what was actually said, why clearly it buttresses the opinion of those of us who heard clear and plainspoken answers to the questions. Not the "rattled and incoherent" performance you allege.
