You say that President Bush looked good landing on the aircraft carrier. I thought that he had been grounded from flying because he didn't take his National Guard physical.

Time for Cheney to come clean and answer questions or dump him in 04. Get him out before he did a Nixon '74 on all of us. The GOP can't afford to have two Nixons in its history.

You are an idiot!

"In your professional opinion, is there justification for asserting that the Left suffers from a collective form of boderline personality disorder/narcissism?

No, I couldn't say that, but they do suffer from egalitarianism where there must be equality not of opportunity but of outcome. This, too, is not a mental disorder, but IMHO it is much worse --besides providing rationale for the "envy taxes"--income and inheritance taxes --it also served as the rationale for wars waged by the communists to form a classless society. A mental disorder usually only hurts the sufferer and a few in their family, but egalitarianism harms legions and may result in the death of millions.

on the merits, yes. but if he walks into a debate at 35-40% approval rating against "pretty boy" edwards, he will be at a huge disadvantage. remember who makes up the electorate.

If you think that President Bush's service in the National Guard was so honorable, can you explain why his 1973 Officer Effectiveness Report (Evaluation) stated that he hadn't been seen for one year?

If I may let me add these figures to your facts.

51% of the Army's combat power is in the National Guard.

70% of the Field Artillery power is in the National Guard

49% of the Combat Engineer power is in the National Guard.

Now, what was the joke supposed to be about serving in National Guard Mr. McAuliffe?

And speaking of Terrance "Punk" McAuliffe, where did HE serve in the military?

You know what? There was a discussion thread about his military records on FR the other day and there was a copy of his OER and his NGB 22 (the Guards version of the DD 214 service record). Nowhere on there was there any mention of him having been AWOL of not having completed the required drills to have what's considered a "good year" of service. If what you say is true, that would have to be put in there becasue his senior rater (his commander) in the TX ANG hadn't seen him for that year to evaluate him. And he couldn't be evaluated by the AL ANG becasue he wasn't assigned to them, just allowed to drill so he wouldn't be considered AWOL.

Not that it means much to you since the tone of your post starts off hostile but the OER inwhich you refer would have had to have been in 1972.

If I remember correctly in 1973 he was transferred to inactive status "having fufilled the terms of his enlistment". So NO ONE from his unit would have seen him in 1973.

And I wasn't just touching on President Bush's service in the ANG. I was also broadly referring to the proud service of ALL GUard members. Of which I was one for 3 years between my first and current hitch in the active duty army.

Now...any other myths or urban legends I can debunk for you?

That's funny, I retraced the posts "replied to" and there was no mockery of that person.

But I see some are anxious to adopt the martyr role when called upon to defend their stance.

In YOUR opinion, the interview did not go well. You are entitled to your opinion. In case you haven't noticed, most of us do not agree with YOUR OPINION.

Indeed. I believe I stated that it was my opinion. Most things posted here are opinions. Seems kind of obvious, but I guess it bears mentioning.

Hey everyone ... anything posted on FR other than the solution to a mathematical problem is an opinion.

There you go.

Oh, and most of the "conservatives" that I have talked to in meatspace do agree with MY OPINION. They probably wouldn't post the criticism on a message board, but they mentioned that they were disappointed. As a matter of fact, not one of them though it was a "good" showing.

So, on a conservate message board, those who POST, declare that they do not agree with MY OPINION in the public posting. I would imagine many of the lurkers, who ... let's be honest ...make up about 90% of the readership ... COULD agree. And even if they did, who would put their neck out on Free Republic and say as much pretty much knowing that they are going to have to put on their asbestos underwear to keep their nuts from getting fried by the flames.

I am pretty confident that not as many people as YOU THINK, were anywhere nearly as enamored with the interview as YOU WERE.

I don't think you will be supporting President Bush, somehow.

Unless he rebukes that 'amnesty for illegal aliens' nonsense, then I don't think I will either.

Noitce the turnout in Michigan was much much smaller than anticipated.

It was? I heard yesterday it was 3 or 4 times the turnout of 2000. Not saying you're wrong, but I heard that and turnout in Washington was 4 times as large...It appears to me there's been strong turnout in all of the caucuses and primaries.

(1) He may have seemed defensive because he was parlaying with a prosecutorial interviewer who was probing for weaknesses.

on NBC? I'm shocked. SHOCKED I tell you.

Isn't a conservative going on NBC, similar to a black guy going to a KKK rally?

I mean .... really, what did anybody expect? High fives from Tim for all the great work?

(2) For those in the MTP audience who were a-political I think he did well. He was sincere and poised, wise enough to avoid the traps Russert set for him.

Oy, sincere and poised were the last things that came to my mind in the first 30 minutes. More like rattled and incoherent. He helped himself in the last 30 minutes, but the first half just seemed incoherent.

(3) The interview was just what I was looking for to feel positive about the upcoming campaign.

Well, i'm, happy for you. Really, I am.

I'm not sure the voters are going to agree, but i'm all for finding something to feel positive about.

I am still rather confused about President Bush's National Guard Service. His OER dated 5/2/73 for the period from 5/1/72 - 4/30/73 states "Lt Bush has not been observed at this unit during the period of report." To me, that says that he did not honorably perform his National Guard service. Do you have another explanation?

I'm sorry you will not voting for the man who has led this nation well during an extraodinarily tough time in our history.Perhaps Kerry can solve the illegal immigration problem with a blanket amnesty upfront.

let us know when it becomes law. the issue is effectively dead. you'll probably see an increase in the number of green cards, maybe something for the agriculture industry, not much more.

Um, what are you talking about?

You do know the president flew about a third of the way to the carrier, no?
